Donald Trump vowed to spend as much as $1 billion to defeat Hillary Clinton as he brought his unique brand of pandemonium to Des Moines.
For the 45 minutes it took him to walk from Gate 8 to the Iowa Pork Tent, onlookers stood agape, corndogs in one hand and smartphones in the other, shouting, pleading for a handshake, taking it in.
We love you Donald.
Give em hell!
Kick Hillarys ass!
Hed landed several blocks away in a $7 million helicopter bearing his name. As he braved the sizzling midday heat, walking along in a navy blazer, khakis and shiny white spats, the chopper, still giving rides to groups of fawning children, swirled overhead.

Hear ya.
Spats, a shortening of spatterdashes, or spatter guards are a type of classic footwear accessory for outdoor wear, covering the instep and the ankle. Spats are distinct from gaiters, which are garments worn over the shoe and lower trouser leg, and used primarily as personal protective equipment.
Just the thing to wear to any barbecue...IF one wanted to look like an escapee from the cackle factory..
I just dont see any spats in any of the phoros of the don anywhere, and I have looked high and low
Is it just my, admittedly, faulty memory or did Reagan *own* that convention?
To me, it was the way he carried himself and his demeanor as much as what he said.
To me, it was so refreshing to have a man of courage and conviction confidently striding the stage.
Especially after the Watergate disaster, the ineptness of Ford and the nebbish that was Carter.
Watching the convention ensured my vote for Reagan.
I see some of the same in Trump.
The same confidence and grand vision.
But the devil is in the details.
“I just dont see any spats in any of the phoros of the don anywhere, and I have looked high and low”
As far as I can see on this thread, you are the only poster with “spats” on your mind, Mike.
And now you can’t find any photos of Trump wearing them?
Maybe it’s because men haven’t worn spats for about 50 years, except maybe at a Halloween costume party.
I suppose you’ll have to find some other way to try and embarrass Trump. Try sticking with the `Hell Toupee’ angle, or search suspenders or bow ties.
If I had $10billion and wanted to wear spats, I’d wear spats. Especially perhaps if they protected $4k shoes at a state fair. Could be horse puckey around.

I guess media, Democrats and RINOs are pissed because of Trump’s ostentatious display of wealth. Why, who would dare to travel somewhere, arrive somewhere in their OWN conveyance? GASP. That’s what campaign funds, crony PACs, CoC and uber rich bribers are for! Use THEIR jets, buses, limos and helicopters. All you gotta do for it is through some taxpayer money at them later on.
The very idea of this a$$hole showing up in his own helicopter! /sarc.
Take a tour of Trump One the Jet and tell me if you think you’d get tired flying in it......:0)
Excellent. First belly laugh today. Thx.
This is all fun for Trump. It energizes him.
He has always had boundless energy.
BTW, you know he doesn't drink alcohol either.
I loved the '80s!
I didn’t realize having good hair was a necessary qualification for president.
Who said it was?
You mean Trump does not fly tourist class on flights? How elitist! /S
It does not matter how comfortable his aircraft is, he does not have to do what he is doing. Life is far more comfortable in Trump Tower Penthouse.
He walked 45 minutes in the hot and humid Iowa summer weather. I spent 2 years in Iowa city. Summers are horrible. And so are winters!
Gaffer, you get it! You are smarter than most.

I did not invent the presence of spats where there were none
