If Donald Trump gets bumped out of the Republican primaries and runs as an independent third party candidate, 36 percent of Republicans and a whopping 19 percent of likely Democratic voters would support him, according to a new poll.
Rasmussen Reports on Monday said that a Trump third party bid would complicate the presidential election even more than it did when H. Ross Perot ran in 1992, a bid that many believe cost former President George H.W. Bush a second term.
According to the poll:
Over a third (36 percent) of likely GOP voters say they are likely to vote for Trump if he's a third-party candidate, with 18 percent who are :very likely" to do so.
One-in-three voters who are not affiliated with either major party (33 percent) also are likely Trump voters, including 16 percent who say they are very likely to vote for him if he runs third-party.
Even 19 percent of Democrats describe themselves as likely Trump voters, although that includes just nine percent (9 percent) who say they are very likely to vote that way.
Other recent polls found that a Trump independent run would cost the Republican nominee and all but guarantee a Democratic victory.
“the GOP CAN GO TO HELL.”
Quickly.
You have awakened! Heh.., as have I...
“Perot may have cost Bush the presidency.”
I think his broken tax promise cost him a second term.
I wanted to tell him, “Now read my lips, crapweasel.”
That does not mean that I’m still not very mad at the House and Senate for NOT passing such laws! They should force the President to veto bills that the people support but they won’t!
That does not happen because we have bought and paid for politicians leading both houses (and among most others)!
Congress has become most corrupt and America has no idea about it thanks to our feckless media.
There is a long row to hoe and a year to get there. If The Donald does maintain the moment - then more accolades to him. He is doing all he can to put a non-party foot in the door. After watching him in years past, wondering exactly what he and candidates meeting might be regarding...it is very likely he was ‘feeling them out’ to test the waters. In this way he has both feet on firm ground and a solid path on the road to know what it takes to accomplish the run to the finish line.
Love it! The GOP elites are still alive only because it is illegal to shoot them. The man is beginning to morph into another Ronald Reagan. Impossible to have two such men in our lifetime?? JB and Mitch the turtle must be wondering WTH. JB does seem to be wearing a brighter color these days (covering that white as a ghost face) and Mitch - his head is receding into the shell.
TO DONALD!! ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi - you’re our only hope’
To Donald - Sir, please place Sarah, Carly, Ted, Allen West in leadership roles. These persons are fearless and all seem to love this country just as much was WTP-peons do. Thank you, again. Look forward to your Inauguration.
I’ve read and re-read you comment and can find absolutely nothing that I can disagree with...heh.
Hoping for the implosion of the GOP and a conservative come out of the smoke!
Now we’re talking! There’s the evidence that the immigration issue he raised transcends party!
and what if Trump got the D nomination?
looks like he could grab it right now, at least much easier than the R nomination
I bet he could win the election, especially if the R machine nominates another loser RINO
Baring a debate screwup, this race might be over. Now will Obama bow out peacefully ? Will Hillary take her money and ride off into the sunset ?
Trump has a real shot at an independent bid. He’s already at 25 % on three way polls and no one has really considered it.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: George Bush cost George Bush his second term.
Perot didn’t lose the presidency for Bush, Bush did that all on his lonesome.
As for Trump running third party; I think if Jebbers wins the nomination, it is an absolute certainly.
But look at those numbers, people - rarely do we get peeks into ‘out of party’ viewpoints - that’s some tremendous cross appeal. Our GOPe masters should be super pleased; after all, they want a big tent, and the biggest tent on the stage right now is Trump.
Oh, right, they want the right KIND of big tent where they can proudly hold their heads up high as they walk among liberals that they ‘did the right thing.’
Hope Trump’s run is long and strong; every day he’s on the stage, it blows huge holes in all of the GOPe theories.
What's the third choice?
Thanks, I needed to laugh.
My money would then be on a definite DNC victory and the en do the US soon there after.
I will never vote for Trump in any circumstance
I think that all of those elected in Congress surely would not allow such things as you imagine to happen.

OMG..... Deagle; come on man. You really don’t believe that. Most of the entrenched politicians in Washington, D.C., especially those in the House and Senate, would give up their children be beheaded by ISIS to hold onto their power and position.
Right on.
First law that should be passed is that with every new law, an old law must be repealed. Better yet, repeal 2 old laws........
Sounds like a plan—a Democrat plan. If the GOPe higher-ups caucus with the Dem party hacks, they should be scheming on how to make this happen. Uni-Party uber alles.
Absolutely.
Very good idea.
