In my interrogatories about Trump a week ago, I asked Trump enthusiasts the following question:
Are you happy that Trump is essentially a stalking horse for Jeb Bush? If Trump wins some early primaries in a crowded field it will be with less than 20 percent of the vote, but it will likely cause the party establishmentsuch as still existsto rally around Bush, just as Democrats rallied to Michael Dukakis in 1988 after Jesse Jackson swept a round of Super Tuesday primaries in the South and caused panic at DNC headquarters.
The New York Times reports today:
Donald J. Trumps surge in the polls has been met with barely concealed delight by Jeb Bush and his supporters. Mr. Trumps bombastic ways have simultaneously made it all but impossible for those vying to be the alternative to Mr. Bush to emerge, and easier for Mr. Bush, the former Florida governor, to position himself as the serious and thoughtful alternative to a candidate who has upended the early nominating process. . .
The longer it goes, the greater the panic is going to build, said Alex Castellanos, a longtime Republican strategist. And that means you may not have the luxury to flirt with an undeveloped, budding candidate. Trump has set the Republican Party on fire, and if youre going to put that fire out you dont have time to waste. Youre going to have to grab the biggest blanket you got and throw it, and right now thats Jeb. . . .
Privately, Mr. Bushs top strategists, who have become increasingly fixated on halting Mr. Walker, believe that Mr. Trump is nothing short of a godsend. That is because Mr. Trump is drawing support from voters blue-collar, less-educated, more conservative who are unlikely ever to support Mr. Bush but are essential to Mr. Walkers candidacy.
Remember, Power Line was there first.
Is Jebbie happy that about 9 million disaffected Republicans would never in a million years vote for him if Trump does, in fact, turn out to be his stalking horse? We’re not backing Trump to end up with another RINO.
“Mr. Bushs top strategists, who have become increasingly fixated on halting Mr. Walker, believe that Mr. Trump is nothing short of a godsend”
I wonder of this is like Carter’s people thinking Reagan as an opponent was a godsend?
Yeah, that was funny as hell.
Watch Ted Cruz inherit 85% of those people.
This Hayward cat makes no bones about his dislike of trump and his love for jebby.its pathetic.
I agree.
They are Legion.
As I see it, Mr Trump draws attention away from Gov Walker. Yeb is hated by conservatives and barely a pantywaist thought to the rest of the world. Should Mr Trump flame out for whatever reason, I hope Gov Walker has all of his skeletons hidden very well.
The RINOs are still under the delusion that the conservative base will turn out and vote for Yeb, if he gets the nomination. You know - to keep Hitlery from winning. Well, count me out - we’ve had enough of their tactics. They expect us to vote RINO, but look what they do to the conservative candidates. No thanks and no vote for Yebbie!
Keep an eye on Kasich. He isn’t doing too badly in the polls, and I like him more than Walker in many aspects.
Every union headquarters this side of Guam has three or more full-time paid staffers doing oppo research on Scott Walker. If there’s anything being hidden, it won’t be for long.
You’re a big Obamacare fan and despise the Tea Party? I didn’t know that.
This guys argument goes to “hell with gasoline drawers on” due to the fact that Trump is beating Jeb, and Rubio in FL.
If Jeb loses FL, stick a fork in him.
He’s dead, Jim.
Yep, that’s where I’ll be if it’s not too late.
Yep, if it comes down to a choice between Yebbie and ThunderThighs, I could see myself sitting it out. After all, why is it all that much better to go off the cliff in a bus than crash in a plane?
Cruz is still the one so far, imho.
If Trump stays in all the way, they are going to have to
pull some very serious shenanigans to give the nomination
to Bush. But I doubt very seriously they are going to
let Trump have it just like there was no way they were
going to let Ron Paul have it. That’s why they are saying
they have to win without their base because they know in
the end they aren’t going to have it. Just like with
Romney, the base is going to stay home and refuse to vote
for another fraud. The choice has already been made, now
they have the task of setting it up to look like a legitimate
win.
Right answer. There are only two candidates that have the fire in their belly to oppose the GOP elite. That is Trump and Cruz. When and if Trump does not succeed that fire will be in the Ted Cruz column.
Kasich is a Common Core fraud, just like Jebster.
To hell with all of these Socialists and their Maoist educational platforms.
