While perusing the articles and stories one can find on the computer (my wife says I spend way too much time on this thing), and the posted comments related to the articles, I came across a comment concerning Donald Trump (imagine that) and his lack of qualifications to be the next president.
A poster had commented that Republicans cant seem to get it right in their selection of candidates; notably, with Trump in the mix.
Deciding to have a little fun with this person, I pointed out that the Democrats hadnt done such a hot job picking a candidate in the past two elections, either. I also pointed out that the president wasnt all that qualified in the job department when considering his prior job experience.
After all, when all you have for a job recommendation for the highest office in the land is having been a community organizer, and junior senator in one of the most corrupt and bankrupt states in the country, that isnt saying much.
I proceeded to explain to this person that Trumps strategy is to continue building a large lead in the polls; then, call a news conference to announce hes withdrawing from the race.
The only reason Trump entered in the first place, he explains, was to set the tone of the dialog. He recommends his followers get behind Sen. Ted Cruz.
Sen. Cruz breezes through the Republican primaries, defeats Hillary in the general election, and is now our new United States president. Wahoo.
I didn't assume that, but I know for a fact your era of Reagan is over thinking is absurd.
Then state your facts. I still think that a Ronald Reagan only comes along once in a lifetime. No one since has even come close to him. He was a very special person. If you are talking about conservative values, then yes, others have them. I was referring to the personal characteristics of the Great Communicator. By the way, he wasn’t perfect either.
Okay, to the flaws in your logic.
First, this is not a “we” endeavor among the candidates. They are all in it for themselves....because they all think THEY are the best answer. There is no ‘we’ in this process, not yet at least.
Second, the donors to Cruz and Rand and Jindal and Perry and so on did not give to the “we” idea....the one that doesn’t exist.
Third, the way to remove Boehner and McConnell is not within a Presidential campaign. And a sitting Republican President cannot do it either. Now, the trashing of the GOP estabs that will happen naturally will be very beneficial...but it won’t remove anyone.
Ideal Candidate? Hardly. Trump has Romney baggage on Obama Care....you know, how everyone around here said (and it was right to a degree) that Romney couldn’t run against Obama Care...well, Trump has been a universal health care guy until very recently.
That’s just off top of my head. Your idea has some merit, but many many flaws.
I did...in here....103 thousand words making the case for how Republicans lose, and how they win, over the past 10 election cycles (thru 2012). Best seller. Widely praised. Good reviews.
We had a "social consrvative" in GWB but he was a disaster in fiscal matters and immigration.
The phrase that is resonating with the Trump supporters is "Make America Great Again." Haven't noticed any other candidate saying that or offering any suggestions on how to do that.
I find it hard to believe that Santorum is ahead of Cruz. Even that Santorum is on there at all.
Well, good for you. Barack Obama wrote 2 books which were also best sellers. Well, he didn’t really write them, but you know what I mean. Just because people write books - it just means that is their opinion on issues. For the record - I do agree that Karl Tokyo Rove has been instrumental in losing elections. The lineup in the 2012 cycle was pitiful though. And, John McCain would have been a disaster as president. We also didn’t have good choices in 2008. The republican field has been very weak these past 2 (presidential) election cycles. This time, however, we have some good candidates running - and some bad ones too. It is going to be interesting.
I’m not sure that’s his strategy/intentions but it seems that Cruz is the only one that Trump has any respect for.
The point is, I’m not going to try and squeeze a total books worth, a few thousand columns worth, and thousands of radio and TV interviews worth into a single internet post. If you would bother to read some of the reviews, I think you’d get a better appreciation of who you’re speaking with.
only in cherry picked polls....
Don’t let your authorship go to your head. A better idea of who I’m speaking with? Talk about ego.
If one thinks America needs Mussolini then vote for Trump.
He will make the trains run on time.
If one wants the most ideologically conservative president then the choice is Cruz ( my favorite ).
If one wants the candidate with the best personality and best chance to beat a democrat then the choice is Walker or Rubio.
I happen to think that just about anyone can defeat Hillary and the rest of the sorry socialist bunch of democrats. This country is coming back to RealVille.
Lastly, I find it amusingly ironic that if Trump were to become president, this country would be electing a 1%er - actually a millionth of a 1%er - despite all the chatter about income inequality.
’ What are these supposed qualifications for President I keep hearing mentioned? Last I saw you had to be 35 and a natural born citizen. Thats it. When did a college degree or years of being a party hack or a wonk get added in?
The biggest laugh is experience in govt. Look what thats gotten us. What we need is someone with experience in rooting out corruption and firing vast numbers of lazy moochers. ‘
Hear, hear
Well under Malcom Gladwell’s theory that to become an expert on something, you need to practice it for ten thousand hours. I’m just letting you know that I’m way way way beyond the ten thousand hour mark....and that’s probably not the case for most around here.
If you want to read the other into it, I can’t stop you and I don’t care....but my only point was that above. Been fighting the GOP establishment since 1992...yes, 1992. Just sayin....
Well, we can certainly agree on our disdain for the GOP establishment.
Cruz is not very good at foreign policy. When the Egyptian military ousted the Muslim Brotherhood government Cruz wanted to cut support to Egypt. He's made other major errors on foreign policy, but his Egypt error was a wopper. I like Cruz, he is a good guy, but he is not yet ready to be president, Trump is. And he has zero cross over voter appeal. Plus had has a NBC problem, the Rats will eat him alive on that alone.
Cruz Demands Obama End Aid to Egypt

" My reason for bringing this up is Liz isnt the only Trump supporter that fits this same category. There are others. Most notably many of the Cruz-birther lunatics, but also many that harbor the same disastrous Ron Paul lunacy on foreign policy and those with anti-semetic tendencies have for whatever reason gravitated to Trump. "
Update:
Make that racist, fascist, dark-spirited, crazy, bitter clinging clowns that hate Jews.
And what funded that life TR had?
