Ann Coulter: Donald Trump can win White House as Republican or third-party candidate
The Washington Times ^ | July 24, 2015 | Seth McLaughlin

Ann Coulter believes that Donald Trump can win the White House by continuing to tap into the electorate’s anger over the nation’s broken immigration system.

Speaking at a collegiate forum hosted by the Eagle Forum, Ms. Counter said Friday that Mr. Trump should not be underestimated.

“I love Trump. I love him, and I think he can win,” Ms. Coulter said. “I think he can win the nomination and I think he can win as a third party.”

The conservative commentator is one of the most vocal critics of the immigration system. She recently released a book, called “Adios America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole,” in which she attacks both parties for not strengthening border security and not reducing the flow of people coming into the country — both legally and illegally.

On Friday, Ms. Coulter told the college students gathered at the Heritage Foundation that her first thought when Mr. Trump entered the GOP race was that she was glad that he would ensure immigration would get some attention.

Since then, she has come to believe that Mr. Trump, who has surged to the top of the GOP polls, has a real shot at winning the primary race, as well as the general election....

I like it, except Allen West as Sec. Def and Dave Brat as Treasury Sec.

If the GOP tries to stick us with another amnesty candidate and Trump runs third party, he’ll win.
The GOP will disappear within two election cycles much as the Whigs did.
One party would not address slavery and was swept aside.
One party would not address the illegal alien inundation and will be swept aside.

If Hillary self destructs, Trump could have a great chance to start a third party.

They are adamant that Jeb be the nominee so Hitlery can win.

I think they want Jeb to win so it won't matter who wins the General Election.

She supported Romney and Christie and we're supposed to take her seriously?

How about a little fairness. Ann dumped Christie like a hot rock when his amnesty views were known and most freepers actually held their nose and voted for Romney. She has been the most vocal anti-amnesty pundit out there and you being a creeper should know it.

When Trump starts PUBLICLY campaigning to stop anchor babies, to stop family chain immigration, to stop the utterly bogus H-1B work visa, and to dramatically reduce the number of LEGAL immigrants - who vote 80% Democrat when they become citizens - then, and only then, will I take him seriously.

Trump may not come to agree with you but you can be certain he is assuredly the only one that has a chance of seeing it your way.

Sorry, but that's just not true. Coulter dumped Christie in June of 2013.

But Christie's pro-amnesty positions were well-known as far back as 2010 when he said this: “The president and the Congress have to step up to the plate, they have to secure our borders and they have to put forward a commonsense path to citizenship for people,” source

Coulter promoted the pro-amnesty clown Christie for 3 full years while his positions were well-known. And she's as much a joke as he is.

“I do my homework”

As do I. This, from Gallup:

Democrats maintain their six-point edge in party identification when independents’ “partisan leanings” are taken into account. In addition to the 31% of Americans who identify as Democrats, another 16% initially say they are independents but when probed say they lean to the Democratic Party. An equivalent percentage, 16%, say they are independent but lean to the Republican Party, on top of the 25% of Americans identifying as Republicans. All told, then, 47% of Americans identify as Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party, and 41% identify as Republicans or lean to the Republican Party.

For Trump to win a three- way, he’d have to overcome the fact Hillary is going draw the votes of the huge majority of democrats and democrat leaners (you can NOT deny the huge majority of female voters goes to her). The Repub candidate will receive at least half of that 41% leaning GOP, because whether we in FReeper land like it or not, many GOP voters do indeed like the RINO-ish wing of the party. The remainder will either do their customary act of either staying home or writing in someone else. The numbers simply aren’t there.

Meanwhile, head-to-head, There’s not a single survey that does NOT show Trump loses by double-digit margins to Hillary, and even to Sanders. Subtract away half of the support Trump gets in those polls and flow it to the GOP to wargame a three-way, and it’s a runaway for the dems.

Wishing for a three-way Trump victory makes for a fun diversion. Realizing it is something else. The numbers simply aren’t there.

After Trump receives his portion of the total GOP leaners, remainder will either do their customary act of either staying home or writing in someone else. The numbers

But, Bob. You just provided the solution in your own post.

Rather than support the person who hasn’t yet double-crossed you, why not support the-—in your own words-—proven conservative?

I can support Trump (i.e., say good things about him), but still pull the lever for Cruz (which I plan to do).

I don’t like the idea of simply trashing Trump with the thought that he’ll disappear in shame - he won’t. As I noted 2 weeks ago, if the Republican Party didn’t want to see a Donald Trump type upset their apple cart, they SHOULD NOT keep supporting Open Borders - they created him.

I think when Trump eventually withdraws/flames out, he’ll paint it as the most advantageous situation for himself...his ego won’t allow anything else.

I agree with you that someone needed to say what he’s saying.

We’ll see - the question is whether he’s running for his own ego, or running because he really cares about the country.

I suspect it’s the second, as he has never had a problem keeping his ego satisfied in the past...this is something different.

I personally believe it’s the former. All you have to do is listen to his delivery. It’s always “I, I, I, me, me, me....they love me, I’ve done so many grand things”, etc.

I’ve never been able to stomach Trump because of his uncontrolled egotism. I haven’t seen a change in him.

Could be, but maybe it’s such a habit that he doesn’t even realize it.
