Mike Huckabee splits with Trump on immigration
The Politico ^ | July 5, 2015 | Eliza Collins

Posted on 07/05/2015 9:47:41 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made clear on Sunday that he sees some immigration issues differently than his Republican presidential rival, Donald Trump.

“What I have been doing is focusing on what my own views of immigration happen to be, rather than weighing in on getting in this battle of, are we with Trump or against Trump?” Huckabee said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I say some things very differently. I say every night, I get on my knees and thank God I’m in a country people are trying to break into, rather than one they’re trying to break out of.”

While some immigrants may have “nefarious goals,” Huckabee said most of them come to the U.S. for the opportunity to be Americans.

“They come to help their families, some of the hardest-working people…and I think this is often lost — some of the most conservative, family-oriented and faith-based people I have ever witnessed,” he said.

“I would never besmirch all the people who come here because I think, sometimes, we get wrapped up in how many people are coming. The real question is, why are they coming?” Huckabee said. “If they’re coming because they want to be part of the American dream, if they want to come and share our flag, our interests, our language, assimilate into our culture because they believe in what we stand for, you know, then that’s the same reason our ancestors came.”

And Huckabee was quick to declare that Trump, the billionaire real estate developer and entertainer, “needs no help from Mike Huckabee to get publicity. He’s doing a really good job of that.”

“I’m for some reasonable approaches to immigration that start with a secure border," the former governor said, pledging to secure the U.S.-Mexico border within a year if he’s elected president.

Huckabee is slick and has a silver tongue, a master at deflection and diversion. His stint at FOX must have proven to be quite a spring board for him, though I never once watched his show.

He evaded the question. He said he was for, “traditional marriage,” he never said he’s against gay marriage. The media let him off and gays had no problem with him. But you knew that already. Anything to defend Trump because he’s one of your darling Democrats.

What all these feckless republican wannabes, Rhinos or not, need to do is stop acquiescing to “interviews” by the left wing media. Stop this crap! When the Hildabeast is asked one question in weeks—what flavor of ice cream she likes— and her roping off the same lapdog fools, this is a joke. Just refuse to answer and refer to the Hildabeast’s ruse. Enough of this crap!!! But then again the wimpy Rhinos know no better. What a shame for these pathetic RHINOS......

Where is he seeing this?

While some immigrants may have “nefarious goals,” Huckabee said most of them come to the U.S. for the opportunity to be Americans.

Entering this country illegally is nefarious in and of itself, irrespective of the motivation for doing so.

All who skirt the legal process are criminals.

Trump’s statements on illegals is really doing a good job of separating the sissies from the candidates.

As far as “the Gay Marriage” situation goes, the Genie is out of the Bottle.

Do you think any Congress or President from this point forward can do anything about Nationalized Gay Marriage?

The SCOTUS declared it a RIGHT under the Constitution, the Tenth Amendment be damned. What bad things have been outright reversed that you can recall, Prohibition and Dred-Scott are all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Those original decisions were Reversed because they were considered Takeaways, but now that Gay Marriage is a Right instead of an Individual decision left the States, it’s over. Time to wake up and smell the Coffee.

Trump is making hay and getting People thinking. As I said in a previous Post earlier today, Trump has a Snowball’s chance in Hell of getting the Republican Nomination for President, so what does it matter? We’re living in the moment.

Trump is doing what he does best and rattling cages which I find both amusing and downright brave at the same time.

He is getting Heat from both Parties, having his Business Interests attacked and I’m sure the Left will filet him Personally by the time this is over.

Heck he may back down at some point, but he has put himself in a spot where that would probably be impossible.

Meanwhile, the Keyboard Warriors are attacking the first guy who is telling it like it is and the Media cannot ignore him like they always do with People on our side of the Political Spectrum.

If the Media doesn’t report it, it didn’t happen. Orwell’s 1984, the State decides what the Population needs to know.

Whatever Political “friends” he had are turning on him for telling the Truth. That tells me more about the State of the Union than I ever could ever imagine.

Who cares what Trump’s position on homo marriage is anyway? Its not the thread topic. He’s not my candidate, and I doubt that he will even win a primary state.

Can’t you just appreciate that he’s talking about illegal immigration and outing the GOP establishment. I don’t even care that he said illegals can stay. He still wants the border secured, which is a Helluva lot more than all of the other candidates want.

That is so simple and so obvious. Any conservative - heck, anyone who believes in the rule of law - should take that position, period.

As far as “the Gay Marriage” situation goes, the Genie is out of the Bottle.

So your solution is to give up on every issue? Might as well give up on immigration, guns, etc. The answer is to elect The One II i.e. Donald Trump. A liar who is completely untrustworthy and will only harm conservatives.

Huckabee said most of them come to the U.S. for the opportunity to be Americans.

That is a total crock! Most have little or no interest in being Americans. If they did they wouldn't speak Spanish to the exclusion of English.

How is that a split from Trump?

False headline.

You are buying into a media narrative that is 100% false.

Trump has a Snowball’s chance in Hell of getting the Republican Nomination for President, so what does it matter?

He doesn't even want to get the nomination. He will never reveal his financials. But in the meantime he can gut the remaining vestiges of conservatism. Last time he endorsed Romney. What does that tell you about him.

His business depends on illegal immigrants, Anything he says is designed to promote amnesty. It's sad that some conservatives are supporting amnesty through stupidity.

I think they are among the least likely to assimilate into American culture. I suspect Muzzies are maybe, the LEAST likely to assimilate. Of all the Mexican nationals that I met in TX and CA, not knowing if they were in the U.S. legally or illegally, I only met two who were proud to be in America. I am sure there are more, I am only talking about the ones I knew personally. It seemed to me, that most of the rest, were more interested in turning the U.S. into Mexico, than assimilating.
