Next "Place Your Bets",GOP Ticket Survey. So Have We Changed Our Minds,Or Still With Ted Cruz.

Posted on 05/08/2015 6:02:00 PM PDT by Cruz_West_Paul2016

There were some updates on the Fox News All Star Panel this evening, and one of them bet ten dollars on Cruz and more on Rubio. Even with the latest second tier announcments, the top four or five still remains the same. Cruz,Walker,Paul and Rubio. Have any of us changed our minds on the ticket that will beat Hillary? Again, lets make our bets with $200.00. Odds are most of us will want Cruz as President, but what VP choice will help take all of the vital swing states?

Sarah Cuda coming in June!

You're not thinking that Ted's going to choose Sarah as his running mate, are you?

If so, you'll be disappointed, because that simply will not happen. Unfair and ridiculous as it is, she's been too badly damaged in the minds of most Americans by the mainstream press.

No, Sarah will throw all her considerable skills and influence (among conservatives) into helping Ted go all the way.

I can’t believe some of the idiots who have said she hurt his campaign. Give me a break. I voted for Her and so did everyone else I know.

Yep. I was completely demoralized about the 2008 election until Sarah showed up. I went to the polls because of her - not McLame.

Now a fellow Texas resident, LTC Allen West will make a mighty fine running mate for Ted Cruz in 2016 and 2020... and would be someone I would gladly vote for to be the first Black American President in 2024.

Cruz/Rubio

Why do you want to pair one of the best conservative candidates since Reagan, to a back-stabbing, RINO sell-out?

Doubt Cruz would pick Rubio. Not the time. Rubio has / had too many issues. Besides it would be too Latin.

Cruz / Rubio, I had not thought of that one. I think Cruz / Walker would be dynamite. But the former would be good too.

CRUZ. Nobody else comes close.

I am astonished and heartened by the solidarity on this board.

Cruz. The initial hype has just died down a little. Definitely Cruz.

Pulling for Cruz, Hoping for Walker, but betting Krauthammer is right on Rubio.

Where I stand now for 2016 POTUS?
Cruz is a solid for #1! No doubt from me.

As for VP, the wannabes need more vetting over the campaign (since none have been consistent over time). There are a lot I discount out of the gate like Jebbie, Huckster, Santorum, Trump, Graham, Jindal(due 2 his record in LA), Krispie, Kasich, Carson, Rubio, and whomever is left.

Considering and very skeptical: Fiorina, Pence, Paul, Walker, Perry(don’t like his cronyism),

For cabinet positions: Palin, West.

Isn’t there a website where you can really place bets on candidates? With real money?

The problem with Allen West.....he recently moved to Texas. He and his wife both have family in the Lone Star State.

I thought the president and vice-president were not allowed to be from the same state?

Just a small tip, m'FRiend. If you do **actually** have a punt on the Pubbie candidate, make it with Ladbroke's: their service is excellent, their odds posting is generally unbiased by the press (which may suggest an arbitrage to you...bonus idea!) and they do not (unlike Las Vegas) give a tinker's damn in which state you live. Have to do a tiny bit of research as to opening your account, but this IS the way to go.

Same for the actual election, of course.

Gov. Susana Martinez of NM. Do a “Search” here on FR under “Martinez” and see how Conservative she is. She would neuter the so called “GOP War on Women”, dilute Hillary’s “woman” vote and get a huge chunk of the Hispanic votes.

Cruz/Rubio - This ticket wins in a landslide.

I agree. And an even bigger landslide..... Ted Cruz/Susana Martinez.

May I remind you that Ronald Reagan chose the Moderate, GOP Establishment RINO sell=out George H. W. Bush for his running mate?

Cruz/West would an awesome conservative ticket, but if Cruz gets the nomination, pretty sure it will be Cruz/Walker. It just makes too much sense.

Walker would give Cruz cover with the GOP establishment. And as I much as I can’t stand the establishment, it will be tough to win a general election without having them on board. I think Walker would be the only running mate acceptable to the establishment who isn’t a total sellout, like Jeb or Christie, for example.

It’s an old cliche, but I gotta say it: Walker would bring “balance” to the ticket:

Texas, part of the old deep south, balanced with Wisconsin, part of the midwest. North-South, with a bit of West thrown in. At least half of the Dem ticket is gonna be Eastern Seabord. Perhaps the whole ticket.

Senator with mostly legislative and judicial experience balanced with governor with mostly executive experience

Social/Constitutional conservative (Cruz) balanced with mostly fiscal conservative (Walker)

Ivy league (Cruz, Princeton and Harvard) balanced with Big East Conference (Walker, Marquette)

There are other differences between the two, such as their private sector experience. Cruz worked for a law firm before getting fully into politics. Walker has some sales and marketing experience.

In Politics, Cruz started out as a policy advisor to the Bush43 campaign. Walker was a volunteer for Tommy Thompson’s gubernatorial campaign while in college. His jobs in elected office were state legislator, then county executive and then governor.

Both are the sons of Baptist preachers. Cruz is a Southern Baptist, while Walker attends a nondenominational Christian church.

Each man appeals to different big time donors, so the ticket would not be underfunded in a general election.

Cruz will be 45 years old in 2016; Walker will be 48 (roughly the same ages as Clinton and Gore were they ran in 1992 plus or minus a few years). So a Cruz-Walker ticket would be much younger and more dynamic than a Democrat ticket with a sixty-something-year-old at the top.

Cruz and Walker both have attractive spouses. Cruz has two daughters; Walker has two sons. Very photogenic stuff. Hillary has... Bill. And Chelsea. No contest when the cameras do their thing.

Walker has the lowest net worth of any serious residential contender ($72,500). Cruz has an estimated net worth of about $3 million and change (most of it likely from wife Heidi’s job at Goldman). Cruz and Walker would look like paupers compared to Hillary, with her ill-gotten gains, so no Mitt Romney rich guy issues there like the Dems used against him in 2012.

I think a Cruz-Walker ticket would scare the crap out of the Dems. And with good reason.

- JP

May I remind you that Ronald Reagan chose the Moderate, GOP Establishment RINO sell=out George H. W. Bush for his running mate?

George HW Bush wasn't a turncoat, back-stabbing, sell-out, like Rubio is. He didn't make his name in politics by pretending to be a staunch conservative, then upon achieving high office, eagerly fall in with the establishment elites.

GHWB was never a conservative, and never pretended to be one. Ronald Reagan chose him as his running mate to heal an intra-party rift that started during the primary. His advisers felt he needed to do that to bring the moderates on board in the general.

Sorry, but your comparison is wack.
