Huckabee’s Candidacy Could Mean Showdown with Libertarians
The Blaze ^ | May 4, 2015 | Fred Lucas

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will be entering a very different Republican primary field when he announces his candidacy Tuesday, one that will likely bring up the debate over where libertarians stand in the Republican party, while also facing more competition for social conservative voters than eight years ago.

“Huckabee does have name recognition having been on Fox News all this time,” Tim Hagle, a political science professor at the University of Iowa, told TheBlaze. “At the same time, after he won the caucuses here in 2008, there was a lot of concern that he wasn’t as conservative as some thought.”(continued)

He is just a minister in the most republican voting denomination and group, in America, he isn’t a fake Christian, or an “inquisitor”, whatever that is supposed to mean in regards to our conservatives.

Most anti-Christians are democrat voters.

Why don’t you not tell me what to do, unless you’ve recently purchased this website?

There is an upside to Huckabee's candidacy. Yes, he may take some of the social conservative/evangelical vote away from Cruz, which is what the RNC is hoping. However, Huckabee also styles himself as a pro-welfare state, George W. Bush-style "compassionate conservative," which will win over some fiscally liberal Republicans who might otherwise vote for Jeb. Or at least we can hope.

Unless you are really paying attention to politics, you won't know that.

Hence the correctness of my original conclusion.

Non-viable? HAH!

Tell that to the throngs of liberal FReepers who are scared to death of Gov. Huckabee and start with the insults every time there is a Huckabee thread.

Sure it did, who do you think FR endorsed when it came down to Romney, Huckabee and McCain?

LOL, this is a forum, and I disagree with you on your bearing witness to us that Huckabee isn’t really a Christian.

Why not just stay with his politics and positions?

Pretty sure Jim Robinson endorsed no one out of that miserable threesome.

Because you don’t own this “forum” so you don’t get to tell other participants what to do? Am I close?

If they're liberal, they should at least be perfectly happy and comfortable with Huckabee's views on the economy and social services.

Aren’t you being a little childish to play that game?

You now want to pretend that you are getting orders from me rather than a discussion?

OK, Huckabee is a faux conservative who is pro-amnesty, pro-tax, and pro-Global Warming.

Please show me where Free Republic endorsed Mike Huckabee, because I was here and don’t recall that.

Read all the way through to the real reason:

Number seven, if we can keep Huckabee in the race all the way through, thus preventing McCain or Romney from gaining enough delegates to win the nomination, then maybe, just maybe a deadlocked convention might seek out another candidate. One who can re-unite the Reagan Coalition, save the GOP, and put us back on the conservative track. Of course, my personal favorite to be that man would be FRed Thompson.

Woo hoo!!

Let it ring out through grassroots America and on to the convention! Support life! Support the GOP! Support Huckabee! And re-draft FRed Thompson!!

Never give in, never give up, and never lose hope.

Long live the Reagan Revolution!

You don’t have to explain that to me, I have never liked Huckabee.
