NASHUA, N.H. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has attended a wedding reception for a gay couple, he said Sunday, though the potential 2016 contender still believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Thats certainly a personal issue. For a family member, Tonette and I and our family have already had a family member whos had a reception. I havent been at a wedding, Walker said when msnbc asked whether he would be willing to attend a gay wedding. Thats true even though my position on marriage is still that its defined between a man and a woman, and I support the constitution of the state. But for someone I love, weve been at a reception.
The Wisconsin state constitution had banned gay marriage until a federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional in 2014. Wisconsin newspapers reported that Walker attended a reception for his wifes cousin, Shelli Marquardt, shortly thereafter. After a brief period, an appeal halted gay marriages in Wisconsin but they resumed late last year when the Supreme Court rejected the appeal.
Walker isnt the only potential GOP candidate willing to attend such events. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who announced his presidential bid last week, told the cable network Fusion that he would participate.
If theres somebody that I love thats in my life, I dont necessarily have to agree with their decisions or the decisions theyve made to continue to love them and participate in important events, Rubio said....

Effectively they worked out to be the same thing. All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
Yeah, because those are the only two choices.
Or for good men to keep voting for the lesser evil!
I don’t agree with antics that I view as harmful.
For the primary - and I am in Oregon so really have no say other than donations - I am for the most Reagan-like we can get...i.e. Cruz apparently. I had hopes for Walker but they are fading. I like Carly for something, maybe VP, for her real life experience and because she can attack dog the witch without the gender card being played on her.
For the general - anybody but Hillary.
I like the idea of Sarah as Secretary of the Interior - or head of the EPA - although she deserves better she could be quite effective in this.
We have a ton of talent on our side and don’t need Jeb - whose family is PERSONAL FRIENDS WITH THE CLINTONS! Sheesh!!! Not to mention W should open his pie hole about the damage zero is doing.
You should speak to your fellow liberals, they are the ones causing problems and voting wrongly.
Evangelical turnout was higher in 2012 than 2008, and Romney won 79% of the Evangelical vote, the most republican vote of any group.
So what are you going on about?
This will be the “contraception” question for the 2016 debates.
If “real” conservatives showed out in record numbers, as you claim, who were the missing voters?
You vote in every election. By not voting, you are voting by default for whomever wins because your absence helped get him elected.
We don’t want a liberal! It doesn’t matter whether the liberal has a “R” or a “D” next to their name!
Go push your RINO crap somewhere else!
CNN is pure BS. Walker’s son vouched for the lesbians as one girl is a relatives. Walker “did not” go to the wedding. He was conveniently out of town as I would be. He went to a reception on another day. This is from the NY Times. I wonder if they heard a birdie too?
What?
Excuse me? WTH are you talkimg about?
I don’t go to gay weddings.
Too afraid to congratulate the wrong bride.
If the GOP decides to run a liberal, that’s on them.
This is to Jonty, not JRandom....
It would help if the Republican D-Bags quit backstabbing their own Conservative base. Your lil’ buddy “Mavwick” McCain urged the IRS to target Conservative groups.
Ol’ Cornyn and McConnell funded robo calls and leaflets smearing TEA Party groups as “racists” and enticed Democrats to cross party lines and vote in the Republican primary.
Screw you RINO!
For the same reason why they nailed that pizza parlor. To create headlines and try and make people look hypocritical.
Too afraid to congratulate the wrong bride.

The numbers for Evangelical voters are well researched.
Overall turnout out in 2012 was about a million more Republican voters than in 2008.
The problem is that you can’t just run anyone you guys want and win elections, and berating conservatives for not liking your guy indicates that you want to just keep demanding that everyone get in line with your politics, rather than look at what you are doing wrong, or that your politics might be wrong.
Social liberalism is wrong.
Every seat, major and minor, you make the GOPe empty their purses and make them go broke by voting for the most conservative candidate out there.
“The media knows that social conservatives would rather vote Democrat than vote for a less than perfect conservative.”
I’ve voted for a Democrat over “a less than perfect conservative” - John McCain, on his last US Senate run.
I don’t need perfection, but I’d like someone who has at least had a conservative thought a few times in his life, preferably more than 3 months before his next election.
Why is it the “non-social conservatives” expect me to vote for their guy, but then stab my guy in the back if he wins the primary? Hmmm? THAT has happened many times now.
“less than perfect conservative”
McCain and Romney were not conservatives.
