Ted Cruz Strikes A Match To His 2016 Hopes By Frightening Children In New Hampshire
PoliticusUSA - Real Liberal Politics ^ | March 16, 2015 | Keith Brekhus

Posted on 03/16/2015 1:15:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

On Sunday, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz addressed a crowd of over 100 people in Barrington, New Hampshire. During his speech, the Texas Senator served up the fiery, intemperate rhetoric he has become known for. With typical bombast, he told the audience:

The Obama economy is a disaster, Obamacare is a trainwreck, and the Obama-Clinton foreign policy of leading from behind – the whole world is on fire.

His comment caught the attention of 3-year-old Julia Trant who responded nervously, by asking, “The world is on fire?” Senator Cruz, rather than clarifying to the child that he was speaking metaphorically, and that there wasn’t “a real fire” burning up the world, instead looked at the girl and repeated the claim. Cruz exclaimed:

The world is on fire. Yes! Your world is on fire!

Then perhaps recognizing that he might be frightening the young child, he continued:

But you know what? Your mommy’s here and everyone’s here to make sure the world you grow up in is better.

Cruz then continued on his doom and gloom tirade, comparing government regulators to a plague of locusts. He called for abolishing the IRS and dismantling Obamacare.

Senator Cruz was short on practical solutions, instead indulging in right-wing fantasies. He stated:

There are 110,000 agents at the IRS. We need to put a padlock on that building and take every one of those 110,000 agents and put them on our Southern border. Now look, I say that somewhat tongue-in-cheek – but think about it for a minute. Imagine you’ve traveled thousands of miles in the blinding sun, you’re dripping wet, you swim the Rio Grande and the first thing you see is 110,000 IRS agents? You’d turn around and go home too.

The fire and brimstone rhetoric did nothing to dissuade the Republicans in attendance. The base ate it up, and clamored for more. One audience member stood up and declared:

It’s D-Day in America, folks. . . We can’t wait for another Republican. We need Ted Cruz and I don’t care who he runs with. We need him and that’s it!

There is no question that Ted Cruz can rile up a partisan crowd. However, winning an election requires more than just stirring up the unbridled passion of your most committed supporters. A candidate has to propose policy solutions, and he, or she, also has to demonstrate the temperament to be a leader that Americans can trust.

Senator Cruz offers rhetoric but no solutions. Furthermore, his inability to slow his roll, long enough to reassure a little child that the world isn’t literally on fire, also shows he lacks the temperament to be a leader the American people can feel comfortable with. Senator Cruz’s fiery speech may have won over the conservative crowd in Barrington, but looking at the bigger picture, He just struck a match to his 2016 presidential aspirations.

A 3-year old? I was hoping this was a satire article. How could Cruz not understand his audience. He went and scared 3-year olds. I mean if they were 10 and older maybe. I don’t think 3-year olds should be worried about a burning World.

I still want a Cruz/Walker ticket

Nope. Has to be Walker/Cruz. Walker desperately needs to teach Cruz who to be an executive. The only thing is that Cruz needs to speak with adults only.

OK, TED!

Ted, here's what I want you to do for me:

Come up with:
Program:a 14-Point Platform.
A Plan to implement it.
Leadership.

Show some by getting 10 (ten) Republican. Democrat, or Other, Senators to back you up. 10 Governors? 10 State AsG? 10 County Commissioners? 4 Supreme Court Judges (I know, I know, all they can do is wink.)

But in regard to you as President, for which I am all for: Tell me about your take on:

(1) Immigration and Borders
(2) The Economy
(3) Terminating Federal Agencies that harm rather than help
(4) Foreign Policy
(5) Islam
(6) ENERGY Oil, Coal, NG, Nuclear, Alternative
(7) Vote Fraud
(8) A Constitutional Convention and the rights of sovereign states
(9) Gay "Marriage"
(10) Armed Forces, Strength, Veterans, Recruitment, Retention, (11) A federal Budget that has been absent since 2007
(12) Taxes and Spending, including an end to the IRS
(13) Federal Judge Appointments
(14) Reforming the Senate right now, before you and your colleagues throw away the next two years.

Ted, we all already know that our present POTUS is a no good Marxist SOB and queer besides. Old news. Now we need the recovery plan. The Republic is running out of time.

It is not like Cruz was speaking to a preschool class composed mostly of three year olds. There is a good likelihood of having at least one kid in every crowd that a candidate speaks to. The truth is that the world is as screwed up as I ever remember it being in my lifetime. I don’t think that every politician should have to say everything is awesome all the time because there might be a kid in the crowd.

OMG - you want a 14 point plan for the American voters who increasingly communicate via 140 character twitter screen!! Come on, be realistic - no more than the three most important policies. START WITH THE UNSUSTAINABLE DEBT, which should be scaring the twitter using millennial crowd.

Kenny, that was a good suggestion. I like it.

I would go so far as to say I want to know where each candidate stands on those issues.

Ted isn’t the only guy running, and it might reveal some men are better than I may think right now.

It’s also a good idea to see if they have been living by their responses up until now also.

Yes, this weeping child story is all a lie.

Cruz was on the tube this morning talking about it.

He spoke with the child’s mother, he spoke with the child.

The mother said the child was happy, thrilled to meet him, everything A-OK.

God bless Ted Cruz for going on Morning Joe, of all places, and putting the lie to this fairy (probably literally) tale.

He also took on every stupid myth and phony accusation that the scoundrel Scarborough and the dimtwit Mika could throw at him.

In fact Scarborough was very uncharacteristically motivated to rouse himself and join Cruz in his defense of the domestic, economic and foreign policy positions that Cruz advanced.

I really believe that Scarborough, who has done nothing but slur and sneer at Cruz for two years, was inspired by a decent, honest, extremely intelligent conservative discussing his ideas for the country.

Mika was stifled—indeed, at one point Cruz told her that her opinions on the Iran letter were “silliness—but she was also surprised enough to conclude the interview by telling Cruz that he is “a nice man”.

I actually didn’t know she could even consider including a white straight heterosexual eligible for such an encomium.

I DVR'ed that segment this morning. I thought Mika was totally unprofessional, her body language in particular. You could see her hate of Ted Cruz oozing from her pores.

Best ten minutes on TV this year. Cruz ran circles around her.

You are so right!

I was disgusted at her body language, and her contemptuous little eye-rolls and sniffs.

In fact she is a contemptible woman herself: one who has made a career of accusing men of hitting on her and penalizing her for being a brainless sex toy; and yet spends at least half her working hours preening and posing and attempting to show off her charms.

"They love me for my brains...right down here under my skirt!"

(Amidst it all Cruz won me over completely...the few reservations I had were blown away.)

Cheerios, you has pointed out a major flaw in my political thought process, damn you.

I must, MUST, I say, stop thinking of my fellow 'Muricans has the handy and sensible folk of 1950. In them days, any 12 year-old could read and follow the instructions on a box of pancake mix, had no tattoos, and as yet had no illegitimate children (that I knew of).

I am off to Wal-Mart for a reality check. Thanks.

Kenny, Cheerio may have more of a point there than we want to admit, LOL.

While he may, I like what you came up with and would do no more than tweak it a very small amount myself.

Shoot for the stars and hope some of the fairy dust drops on the Twitterholics.

Good work.

Obama would have just told the three year old she is a racist (if white) and explained same gender sex to her.
