Income inequality was a prominent theme among the many potential presidential candidates who addressed the International Association of Fire Fighters presidential forum on Tuesday. But no one else had a line quite like that from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Weve seen over the past number of years two Americas emerge. At the very top, top 1 percent today, with the largest federal government weve ever had, the top 1 percent earn a higher share of our income [than they have] since 1928, said the Texas Republican.
Veterans of recent presidential campaigns probably did a spit take. "Two Americas" is a theme best associated with John Edwards, the former Democratic senator who rode the concept of have and have-nots to a vice presidential bid in 2004 and several third-place primary finishes in 2008. Edwards has, of course, been sullied by personal missteps and embarrassments since then. And it seemed that his signature campaign phrase would be buried along with his political career.
But lately, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has made it fashionable for lawmakers to talk bluntly about class divisions and income disparities. Clearly, Republicans are trying to get in on that act. Cruz's office said he had used the two Americas line before but not often....

By bringing Warren into the discussion, he is comparing two diametrically opposed extremes.
It is the usual leftist position of denigrating ALL the members of the right by exposing what they think is the extreme of the right and tying others to it.
It need not be stated explicitly because it is implied.
Cruz becomes important, not because he is important but because conservatives can be made into cartoon characters by reacting to the extreme.
This is how the left thinks.

Cruz should be vetted. He has not been vetted like the rest of them. Have you seriously not seen the Cruz "eligibility" threads?

Walker has not been vetted by American voters, and if he starts flip flopping it can only Hutt him

Cruz should be vetted. He has not been vetted like the rest of them. This is mandatory for all candidates if they want to run. Nobody gets special treatment. We are not having a coronation. Walker has been going through vetting for 4 years.....he is ready.
So Naps, show me where Walker has had to fight back both the attacks of the Democrats AND his own party?
Cruz has already gone through a crucible of fire and has faced far more flak than Walker has ever endured.
CRUZ or LOSE!

I love what Cruz has had to say. I love what Walker has done. Neither is perfect. I just hope that when push comes to shove we can all rally around the one that can/will win.

Your post makes it sound like Ted Cruz is a "talker" who only produces words while Scott Walker is a "doer." Words? Are victories in District of Columbia v. Heller, Bush v. Gore, Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow, League of United Latin American Citizens v. Perry, Medellin v. Texas, and about 65 other Supreme Court cases just words? Look those up and see what they were about.

That is hilarious. I didn’t know I had that much influence on the voters. What a bunch of weak minded people if that is the case.

Not just you, it's the whole gaggle of Walker supporters who reek of Paul-Bots
in their debate tactics. I've been called out for just questioning Walker on
certain issues. Lately. Funny thing is, I have nothing against Walker yet.
There's over a year to go and I'm all ears for the best Conservative on
the hill.
For the record I have sent money to Cruz, and not Walker.

Exactly. I loathe the HuffPo, but I’m glad that FR allows you to print their articles. I have been disturbed by some Conservative websites actually censoring certain media outlets they don’t agree with. I’m a Conservative, but I do NOT believe in CENSORSHIP!!!
