And the winner is
We had good participation in our Pre-CPAC Reader Poll, in which readers could pick up to 3 candidates.
Of course its not a scientific poll, its a snapshot of the Legal Insurrection Readership at a moment in time more towards the conservative, Tea Party, libertarian . definitely not establishment (however you want to define that, you know it when you see it).
There are two clear winners: Ted Cruz who edged out Scott Walker by a narrow margin, after a late surge, with Rand Paul a clear third. No one else was close. There was a little ballot box stuffing, but nothing so organized that it seriously skewed the results.
What does it all mean?
Cruz and Walker are the choice of the base and there seems to be little excitement for other candidates. As unscientific as this was, I think it reflects reality.
Cruz will be a kick-ass POTUS.
Love My Gov! :)
Walker/Cruz 2016, Baby!
Can’t wait to listen to Ted tomorrow. Wish I were there in person, but youtube will have to do.
Well he certainly loves the Homeland Security Department that is for sure.
Walker and Cruz are to be expected in this type of poll of the base. They pretty much divide the “real conservatives that have a legitmate chance” vote.
Paul has no one to split the libertarian vote with so he looks stronger than he really is.
Whats surprising in this polling are the middle candidates: Ben Carson, (next up after Herman Kayne and Alan Keyes as the conservative candidate with no chance but is fun to support anyway) Once the common guy hears his views on guns supporting him won’t be as fun.
Perry (with his goofy hipster glasses) is surprisingly only slightly ahead of Jindal who many had written off. If Jindal could only give a better speach. Rubio is next, as his efforts to make amends to the right seem to be going nowhere. So much promise thrown down the establishment drain.
Leading the dividers of the rino vote is Carly Fiorina who is only there because the hatred of her is less than the others. Behind her is the establishment king Jeb (who just hired a homosexual activist to be his campaign spokesman..I mean woman..ummm whatever) and it looks like even the rinos think Christie is an ass.
The big surprise is the waking up of the goober vote. The snakeoil huckster (Its easy to be Christian with other peoples tax money) Huckabee is behind even Jeb (but still ahead of Christie). And bringing up the rear is Rick Santorum. A man who could have actually challenged Romney if Newt had dropped out but only because everyone else had already had a flame out. When in a race with real candidates with real chances, the goober voters have deserted him (and Huck). Now if they can only get over the WALKER SUPPORTS AMNESTY!!! I’LL NEVER SUPPORT HIM!!! meme
Well we can all hope.
Just wait until after Cruz speaks. My prediction is he will win this going away. When he spoke a few weeks ago at the Iowa meeting, he brought the house down.
What was that $#*+ you were spouting about President Reagan’s 11th Commandment the other day?
I also think that Cruz and Walker are the favorites of the base.
Rand Paul (and Ron Paul before him) always does disproportionally well in the CPAC straw poll, because their supporters pack the house. You kind of have to eliminate it as an outlier - a defect with this test.
Jindal’s brief comments at the reception tonight were somewhat electrifying, he might have some upside potential.
About half of the folks who want Walker 1st and only pick are demonstrated RINOs and deficients.
I don’t know a lot about Walker, I would need to know a lot more before I would consider voting for him. I want to know what he believes on a lot of issues, and I want to know what he believed on them last year too.
Too many politicians like to change their spots to run for a new office, which usually has the effect of getting liars nominated.
(see: Mitt Romney)
Too many “on our side” are far too quick to hop in bed with a flash-in-the-pan and declare themselves ready to make them President far too prematurely. (Ben Carson, Scott Brown)
Yes he will!
The MenSeekingMen especially FNC avoid Cruz’ name at all costs, while blabbing on incessantly about Walker. Romney throwing him his voter base is the only reason he is where he is now.
I heard that Hannity had a pic of all the possible candidates except Cruz.
figures.
Lol, Fiorina ahead of Bush, Huckabee, Santorum, and Christie.
I hope President Ted Cruz chooses Allen West for Vice-President.
Both men are great orators, and they have proven to bring American citizens to the edge of their seats as they listen with focused agreement to their inspiring speeches.
Definitely, both men are all-American heroes.
God blessed us with this rare opportunity to go down this providential path that returns America to its former glory and excellence!
I don’t see any sign of Alan West on this year’s CPAC agenda.
He is a noticeable absence.
Plus, West is a Texan now, so no go.
I imagine that Susana Martinez or Nikki Haley will occupy the Naval Observatory two years from now.
