U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, looks increasingly like he will enter the 2016 presidential contest, even as he gets ready to hit Florida, home state of two other likely Republican candidates: former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
Cruz appeared on ABC News This Week" on Sunday and said he was looking at running in 2016 and stressed his disagreement with Bush on immigration, even as he offered him some kind words.
Jeb Bush is a good man, Cruz said. He's a good governor. I respect him
If he chooses to run, it certainly looks like he's going to, he's going to have to make the case to Republican primary voters concerning his record, concerning certainly his support for Common Core, concerning his policies on immigration. And I think we'll have a debate on that, Cruz added. But at the end of the day, I think Republicans are looking for a leader. What I would urge every Republican thinking about running to do, and this is true of senators, of governors stand up and lead. Id be thrilled if six months from now we have a half-dozen Republicans standing and leading and making the case that there is a better way we can get back to the free-market principles and constitutional liberties that built this country and made this country a shining city on a hill.
During his appearance on This Week, Cruz stressed his opposition to President Barack Obamas relaxation of immigration laws and the administrations foreign policy in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Cruz will be hitting Florida later this month when he keynotes the Duval County GOPs Lincoln Day Dinner in Jacksonville on Feb. 20 and then will be at the Club for Growths meeting in the Sunshine State at the end of the month. In March, Cruz is set to hit Iowa, home of the first caucus, and New Hampshire which hosts the first primary.
I am sick and tired of politicians who have to look at the latest poll numbers before they take a stand...and then change position when a new poll comes out. Or, who try to be all things to all people.
Oops, maybe Cruz is NOT The One!
Look at my opening post.
Get ready to spend the day explaining the obvious to a bunch of FReepers : )
Jeb called Cruz the “Republican Obama”, so of course Cruz is going to smack him back
I’ve worked on several presidential campaigns (used to live in Iowa) so I know what he’s doing, but most people, of course, haven’t. If people here are not sure of Ted Cruz by now, I don’t know what I can say to convince you that he’s the real deal.
Even Juan McCain is Sen. Cruz’ “good friend”. It’s simply a rhetorical tactic which disarms the enemy. lol Bob
I thought Rick Perry said that, from what I’ve read. Which is ironic, since Cruz supported him in that political indictment.
was it Rick?
lol, I get some of the RINO’s confused
We know there are still a number of Karl Rove type FReepers posting here, so take it for what it is : )
Governor? Check. Clueless? Check. Wears glasses to appear smarter than he is? Check. Loves immigrants? Check.
MEMO TO JEB BUSH: Instead of getting that degree in Latin American affairs, you might have been wise to get a degree in AMERICAN HISTORY! Since you're obviously so fond of Latin America, perhaps there's an elective office waiting for you somewhere in Latin America? Oh wait, THEY have very rigid CITIZENSHIP and RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS down there.
In fact, your wife's home country (that'd be MEXICO) has a heavily defended FENCE across its SOUTHERN BORDER!
never mind
And I suggest that you other alleged Republicans read the thoughts of several of the Founding Fathers before the next election.
Cruz is a man who has learned to do all things decently and in order.
What would you have him say Bush is bad man; would anyone who would contend to be President be so foolish...if you read what Cruz said it is obvious he thinks Bush is not good enough to be President; he is acknowledging Bush is the opposition; believe it or not when Cruz wins the Primary, he will need Bush to work against whoever the Dem’s put up. have you ever heard of keeping your friends close; and your enemies closer.
Among the many positive traits Cruz exhibits; Wisdom is at the top.
