Columnist Pat Buchanan predicted that either Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) or Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) would be in the "finals" for the GOP nomination in 2016 on Friday's "McLaughlin Group."
"If you want to get the nomination, you don't worry about independents in a general election, you excite the base, the Tea Party, the conservatives, the activists, the libertarians, and this is exactly what Cruz is doing. And I think it's a correct strategy as a nomination strategy, it's risky in a general election" he stated....

But unless a candidate meets those criteria, I won't vote for them. 4 election cycles now that I have used that list.

Let’s all hope that you (we) find the guy you describe.

CRUZ with conservatives like Mike Lee, Allen West, Louie Gohmert in his cabinet. And there are several others.
A choice between Cruz and Paul for a conservative voter is like a choice between an M16 and a pellet gun for a soldier in battle.
Kasich? How much to you know about this jerk?
He expanded Medicaid in Ohio by pulling a sneaky Pete that over rode the State Legislature...and just last week he announced his support for Amnesty.
Kasich is an opportunist pure and simple. He’s no Conservative.
We are so blessed to have a man like Ted Cruz alive at this time in American history on our side!
Go Ted Go
Rand can stay home
Sarah Palin - White House Press Secretary.
She is too old. She either wins this time, or the next contest will be Granda of the Year for Westchester County.
Honest Question: what’s the deal with Kasich? I mean he won over Ohio in the last election. It wasn’t even a contest.
Why doesn’t he rank high on the lists? Is an Ohio republican akin to a Mass Republican?
Won’t matter. The eGOP will give all their financial and advertising support to Jeb Bush. The eGOP likes to anoint the winner and leave the rest as show, as though you actually had a choice.
If Cruz gets the GOP nod, I will vote (GOP) for him.
I’m not overly thrilled with Paul’s ideas on illegal immigrants: http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Rand_Paul_Immigration.htm
So he is discounting the elite wanting Jeb?
No more generic and almost meaningless Senator vs. Governor debates about who is more qualified.
We need an articulate, brave pro American and pro Constitution candidate. Right now, Cruz best qualifies.
Palin white house press secretary- Wouldn’t that be a HOOT!
I think the day is right around the corner when I fear someone like Cruz could be Litvinenko’d.
IRand?
apPAULing!
The establishment worries about the “extremism” of Cruz and the Tea Party elements that support him. Nonsense. Rand Paul being nominated would be a total disaster. The media is pushing hard for him because they will tear him to pieces. They will say he’s more liberal on foreign policy than Democrats are. They will morph him into his father and with all the outlandish things Ron Paul has said over the years that could be damaging. I’m seeing positive articles about Rand Paul in liberal sites and blogs so that should be a red flag to all of us. They know he’s very beatable in a race against Hillary or Lizzie.
