The polls this cycle have been cruel to Democrats. A number of surveys have given the presidents party undue hope that they could pull off the impossible on Election Day and retain control of the U.S. Senate. But, like Lucy van Pelt ripping the set football away from a rushing Charlie Brown at the very last minute, Democrats have been robbed of that intoxicating hope just as the buzz was getting good.
After abandoning the partys nominee as determined by the voters, Democrats were thrilled by the prospect that ruby red Kansas might elect a Democrat masquerading as an independent and unseat Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS). After enjoying a consistent 10-point lead over Roberts for nearly a month in the polls, the pro-GOP national environment has caught up to Greg Orman. Though he enjoys a modest lead over Roberts, the race is now statistically tied and voters in the Sunflower State have begun to show they will hold their nose and vote for the unpopular incumbent if only to oust Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) from his position as majority leader.
Democrats were viciously treated to another infusion of confidence when a handful of polls suggested that South Dakotas open Senate seat, long thought lost to Republicans, was becoming competitive. The party committed $1 million to buoy the chances of either of the two left-of-center candidates hoping to defeat former GOP Gov. Mike Rounds. But the Republican candidates apparent vulnerability was a mirage, and three of the last four polls released show him leading both his opponents by double digits.
The final callous tease which fate handed Democrats came in Georgia where the party recruited one of their best candidates this cycle. Michelle Nunn...

If John Barrow(Democrat) is forced into a runoff will that hurt or help Perdue?
Maybe it will help Perdue. Republicans turning out again to keep staunch anti-amnesty Barrow and other Republicans for the Republican candidate.
Tidal wave coming!
Voting erros are being reported almost evrywhere that dims have control. I will not be surprised if we wake up NOv. 5th, and the senate is still under dim control.
erros = errors (lol)
This being done by elections officials who calibrate the touch screens. They have figured out that if they touch the screen above where the calibration marker shows, the touch reaction will skew upwards. (for when the Democrat candidate is above the Republican). If the Republican candidate is above the Democrat, they just calibrate oppositely. In other words, elections officials in these places are committing fraud.
GOP control is predicated in part on holding KS and GA. If one or both of those is lost, pick ups would have to come from places like NC, LA, or NH which are toss ups at this point.
bing.com has a cool, interactive tool - “Bing Predicts”. They currently (as of yesterday a.m.) show Barrow at 45% chance of winning to Allen’s 55%
In the lame duck session, the Democratic Senate will pass new Senate rules that require only 30 Democrat votes to pass legislation, or prevent Republican measures from coming to the floor.
Or are we fooling ourselves once again?
I was wondering what they’d do if I asked to verify
the results on the chip?
That is, can it be checked before being entered/wiped for the next voter.
We don’t have a paper trail here in Ga.
The machine to keep an internally printed strip total I saw them when I worked the polls. A copy is put outside the precinct when it closes in my county
I suppose that is something but how can I verify MY
vote before it’s entered, the whole system makes me
uneasy.
There is a verification screen that should pop up at the end which allows you to see what it will record. At that point when you hit “cast ballot” it is supposed to record it and pop the card out.
That said, ALL of it is an uneasy process, paper, optical scan, punch card, old lever machines, computerized machines, etc. The fraud is in the people who run them and count the ballots - all those “found ballots” and stuff is just supplemental in case they get found out. My personal opinion is that this occurs in Democrat controlled precincts and states. You won’t find any cheating in my county, for sure.
Did we fool ourselves in 2010?
