Sarah Palin will campaign for incumbent Republican Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) in Independence, Kansas on Thursday. Roberts is in need of help from the Tea Party favorite, as recent polls show he trails independent Greg Orman in this fall's general election.
Last week, the Kansas State Supreme Court granted Democratic nominee Chad Taylor's request to be removed from the ballot, setting up a two-person race between Roberts and Orman.
Roberts defeated Tea Party challenger Dr. Milton Wolf in the August 5 Republican primary by a relatively narrow margin of 47% to 41% in a bitterly personal contest that left many grassroots activists in Kansas disgusted with the heavy handed tactics of the Republican establishment. Roberts was hurt by Wolf's attacks on his residency claims, a weakness that may have sparked the strange turn of events that led to the withdrawal of Taylor and the rise in the polls of Orman.
The question is how far Palin's appearance in Kansas on behalf of Roberts will go to bring the embittered grassroots back to the Republican side....

Sarah gets the dire necessity of recapturing the Senate.
Yes she does, but I’ll tell you, 25% of Republican voters are sickened by phonies like Roberts, who no longer represent his state. As the McDaniel race proved, most Senate Republicans are pukes. People can respect a fair fight, but not this. Bob
You’re right. It is that simple.
I just hope she grabs him by the b@!!$ just to remind him who brought him to the dance.
If she pulls Roberts fat out of the fire, the entire GOP-E will owe her a debt of gratitude!
Conservative Senators are gaining power.. we had our exercise in the primaries, now it’s time to jettison the RATS.
I still hold out hope for McDaniel.
I’d pay good money to push Turtle (and McLettuce) down the stairs, but my hunger for revenge isn’t the thing now: recapturing the Senate is. The RINOs can be stripped of power when Cruz is in control.
Unfortunately, Sarah has been doing more and more of this for the establishment. It concerns me greatly.
And maybe that’s what it’s all about
and hopefully never listen to carl rove again.
Steve Shute, for instance, a City Councilman in Gardner, Kansas and Tea Party activist, told The Hill on Tuesday "I don't think the conservative grassroots in Kansas can be any madder than it is now. I don't know if there's the possibility for a reconciliation."
Ironically, Roberts' voting record, which had been sliding to the center prior to the announcement of the Wolf challenge, has, for the past year, been very conservative. He has a 93% rating during this session of Congress with the Heritage Action Scorecard, placing him as one of the top three most conservative Senators in Washington.
That's certainly the opinion and likely behavior of many here on Free Republic. I don't think that it makes sense to do that, either personally or for the benefit of the conservative movement, but many are apparently going to do it in spite of the fact that it will help elect a very liberal phony Independent.
Sarah is a good soldier, doing what’s right for the party & conservatism. I doubt she has any other motivation. She knows she & her family would go through hell if she ever tried to run for office again.
Of course, she’d be great serving as Energy Secretary in a future Republican administration.
Exactly. The democrats are not bluffing about their desire to eliminate us as competition and Sarah Palin is not going to help them do it.
She knows there are serious problems with the GOP but also know that destroying them without a viable replacement is suicide.
She probably wouldn’t be going in unless Roberts *really* needs the help: You know Steve Schmidt is breaking his Iphone in half right now, hahahahahahah.
The RINO lineup that the GOPe is bringing in isn’t moving the needle, so now THEY have to avoid cutting off their noses to spite their face by inviting Sarah in.
Their tears taste sweet.
Because she’s not a small thinker!!! She KNOWS what’s at stake.
And they will put a knife in her back just as soon as the experienced B. Hussein Obama (uniter in chief) picks the spot to put it.
That aside, shows Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment class and loyalty every day.
Sarah shows Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment class and loyalty every day.
It concerns me greatly.
Go ahead, GOPe / NRSC.
Ride your old sub-50% RINO to victory without conservatives.
Let the Chamber of Commerce buy this election if they can.
78 year old Pat Roberts will be 84 at the end of his next term. Way to groom the young blood, GOPe! Wrinkles ain’t just for elephants, ya know.
This is pretty funny. A lot of freepers despise RINOS and worship Sarah. So now what?
