Influential Republicans in early presidential primary states believe New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is poised to once again become a frontrunner for the partys 2016 nomination, following a news report that federal scrutiny of a bridge-closing scandal has not implicated him.
If he had been found in the wrong, he would have been irreparably damaged, said Matt Moore, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. This is hugely helpful.

Where did you get the idea I want you to help Christie get elected?
This country is falling behind Asia rapidly. We need someone with a backbone to have the guts to change directions and ignore the howls from MSM & democrats. I see only 2 or 3 who fit that bill. Christy is not one of them. Neither is Jeb or Mitt.
But do not blame any republican elected politicians for Obamacare. Not a single one of them voted for Obamacare. Let us not distort facts.
2A stance is a non-starter.
Kissing Zero’s ass is the deal breaker.
By the time primaries come to my state (Washington) the nominee is usually already decided.
However my contributions will NOT go to Christy, Jeb, Mitt or Ryan. I will support either of Pence, Perry, Jindal, Rand Paul, Cruz, Kasich or Walker.
The most critical factor is only one on my list should be running after Iowa, NH & SC primaries are over. Whoever has the highest delegates and votes at that point should stay in the race, with the rest dropping out.
If we get a repeat of 2012 with 1 RINO versus 2 or more conservatives, the RINO wins again. It is not complicated.
You can bet any money either ONE of Jeb, Christy, Romney will be running in 2016. The GOPe is shrewd. They will run ONLY 1 of them.
Conservative candidates might repeat 2012 mistake by many staying in the race till the bitter end. That is the problem. GOPe is not the problem because their candidate can not win one of one against any 1 conservative. Problem is lack of unity among conservatives.
I have been saying we need a Conservative Convention or something to nominate our own unified candidate *cough* Ted Cruz *cough* before the primaries ever get started.
I like that idea.
I like the ex-gov of Alaska. But unless she throws her hat in the ring, do not waste your vote. Work hard for the conservative candidate of your choice during primaries. Try to unify the conservative voters behind ONE candidate. Splitting votes is suicide.
I thought you seemed to be saying it was worth voting for Christie to prevent Hillary from getting into office. I wouldn't even bother voting.
As far as the 'pubs not voting for Obamacare goes, that's not exactly true. Rubio gave them the path to not fund it, yet they did. And that argument of 'pubs choosing judges on our side? We wouldn't have Obamacare if Roberts, a GWB choice, didn't traitor us!
I'm saying that if it's a RINO who's nominated, I wouldn't vote for that person, and would be tempted to vote against that person.
That is true
RINO will win again in 2016 if 2 or more conservative candidates stay in the race and split the votes. Like Newt & Rick did in 2012.
Santortum? He's anti-death penalty, he's against "libertarianish" Republicans ""libertarianish right," saying "they have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn't get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn't get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can't go it alone.
He's a bleeding heart liberal who wants to save Africa from itself - with our tax dollars, like the current occupant and like Bush.
On the positive side he's against amnesty and other plans to legalize the invaders. He's pro guns, and anti-climate change.
I would say he is probably more conservative than Mitt.
The better candidate in 2012 was Cain. He was the only one who could have broken Obummer’s stranglehold on black voters. Besides he has actually run a corporation as opposed to Santorum or Newt. I also liked his 999 proposal. That would have stimulated growth like crazy IMO.
My point is NOT that Newt or Santorum were great candidates.
My point is that one on one either one defeats Mitt.
When conservatives divide votes, the lone RINO will always win. There are not enough conservative voters to place 2 conservative candidates over a single RINO.
Right, I totally agree with your main point. Is it going to happen again? Is Mitt running? Seems like it. Is Christie? Seems like it. Is Jeb? Probably not. Paul Ryan? Wobbler. (Ryan should got for a Senate seat or Governorship next IMHO if he is really serious about being POTUS someday).
Meanwhile I only see Cruz and Rand Paul so far on the Conservative side.
One subtle thing the media do is bloat the GOP field by having low thresholds, while doing the opposite for the Donks. When was the last time you saw a back-bencher from the House on stage with the major candidates? Yet being in the House will get you invited to all the GOP debates.
It seems like Cruz is setting himself up to be the standard bearer of the Conservative wing of the GOP this time.
Let us hope it will be Mitt, Christy & Cruz as the only 3 candidates. Or Mitt, Christy & Rand. Then all this complaining on this forum of GOPe having the power to foist their RINO on us might stop.
Like I said many times, we can’t split the votes and hope to win.
