After due research, this is my voting list. I came back special to Midland for this vote, so want to make sure I am correct:
Would appreciate comments and concerns:
1. Senate --- Stovall (close second, Stockman) The Great Cornholio is a disgrace with what he said and has done to Cruz. He's got to go.
2. Governor --- Greg Abbot
3. Lt. Governor -- Dan Patrick (Do worst has to go)
4. Attorney General ---- Gen Paxton
5. Comptroller --- Harvey Hildebran, hands down (Met Glenn Hegar -- VERY unimpressed.)
6. Commisioner GLO --- David Watts. George P Bush is a nice kid, but I am sick to death of Bushes. Knocking him out will potentially keep Jeb from running for President, as it demonstrates Bush-fatigue.
7. Railroad Commissioner -- Ryan Sitton. He's an engineer, very pro-business, smart guy. I've met him and am impressed.
8. Supreme Court --- Hecht, Brown, and Johnson
9. State Senator -- reluctantly voting for Mike Cannon. I know Mike; don't particularly care for him, but the voting record of Kel Seligar is marginal, at best.
Also voting against my Congressman, Mike Conaway. He's marginally OK, but was a big Myth Romney supporter, so I am going for Brown.
Jerry Patterson is pro illegals staying around if they are working. I really like Todd Staples. I have met him a couple of times and he is a great person. Look for him to be Gov. I am voting for Dan Patrick, not because I think he is a wonderful dude, but because I think he will hit the ground running and gets lots done.
No Bushes for me. At a Conservative Straw Poll in Tarrant County this aristocrat was too good to hang around and meet voters in his booth. Screw this elitest. Dan Patrick, Todd Staples, and the others were there meeting and greeting voters all day.
I am also voting for Stovall.
I am also voting for Stovall.
“Its the guest worker thing that made me not like Patterson.
But hes certainly OK!”
I agree with you. Until he took the position on increasing guest workers I was all in for him. Some of the others are staying away from the issue except to stress that they want to strengthen border security. Talking point that everyone would agree with. At least Patterson is more honest when talking about this issue.
I’m willing to be talked into Sitton. I’m ALL FOR OIL & GAS!!! :)
on another note. I have been holding signs standing outside the one poll open in my county for early voting. I have my list printed 2 per page and cut to hand out.
So many times people go to vote for one person and don’t give a thought to the judges. They are very important!!!
You know the democrats take off on election day to get people to the polls, do phone banking and most important work the polls.
How about ya’ll? Are you taking off Tues March 4th? A person standing with a sign and talking to people can affect a bunch of people. A clean election depends on good people manning the polls and especially counting the votes.
If you will do that now, you will be trained for the important race in Nov. Please, please think about volunteering to work the election now and in Nov.
If anyone is interested the Texas SOS puts out a list of the largest 15 counties and
their early voting totals. The info is by date, party, in person or mail ballot.

Windflier has the Texas ping list.
All you Todd Staples voters have apparently forgotten that Todd was a BIG TTC proponent!

It's been a crazy busy day, so I'm just getting to this thread. I posted a similar thread here today:
Who Do I Vote For? [Texas races]
I'll ping the Texas list to this thread, too.
bttt
That's the kiss of death, as far as I'm concerned. If he's already promoting a guest worker program before the election, he'll be an illegal's best friend if he's elected.
Patterson is off my list!
Hang on. Did you see this at post 59?
"I disagree on your selection of Dan Patrick. Hes a fraud. As soon as he got to Austin he joined the gopE and was fully behind Dewhurst against Cruz. He was on the radio constantly explaining to us idiots why we should vote for Dewhurst. And Ill bet hes also for Cornyn."
Thanks, Mom. I've pinged the list to this thread now.
Jane I value your perspective, but tell me what is wrong with voting for Patterson?
I heard him interviewed on the Mark Davis program. He said he was for “Legal” guest workers program (who paid taxes), WITH NO PATH TO AMNESTY.
Not quite the same. On all other counts he has a reputation of being a level headed Conservative.
I value the opinion of many TX FReepers, and to me...it seems like the consensus is that Patterson is the weaker candidate...between he and Paxton. (That’s not a slam on Patterson, just kudos for Paxton.)
I definitely like the fact that Paxton comes highly recommended by Sen Ted Cruz, too.
I like it; the message is blunt and gets straight to the point. All the signs have been well-placed, too - mostly on busy thoroughfares where the rush-hour traffic slows. Everyone is getting a real good look.
Grassroots + brass knuckles = pain for the incumbent. Good.
I've posted on other threads that I have a bit of experience with Ken Paxton. When the Tea Parties first formed, he was one of the first politicians to unabashedly align himself with the movement. He used to attend our Allen Tea Party meetings and was a frequent guest speaker about Collin County politics and races. I've spent time with him, and in my view, he's the real deal.
