After due research, this is my voting list. I came back special to Midland for this vote, so want to make sure I am correct:
Would appreciate comments and concerns:
1. Senate --- Stovall (close second, Stockman) The Great Cornholio is a disgrace with what he said and has done to Cruz. He's got to go.
2. Governor --- Greg Abbot
3. Lt. Governor -- Dan Patrick (Do worst has to go)
4. Attorney General ---- Gen Paxton
5. Comptroller --- Harvey Hildebran, hands down (Met Glenn Hegar -- VERY unimpressed.)
6. Commisioner GLO --- David Watts. George P Bush is a nice kid, but I am sick to death of Bushes. Knocking him out will potentially keep Jeb from running for President, as it demonstrates Bush-fatigue.
7. Railroad Commissioner -- Ryan Sitton. He's an engineer, very pro-business, smart guy. I've met him and am impressed.
8. Supreme Court --- Hecht, Brown, and Johnson
9. State Senator -- reluctantly voting for Mike Cannon. I know Mike; don't particularly care for him, but the voting record of Kel Seligar is marginal, at best.
Also voting against my Congressman, Mike Conaway. He's marginally OK, but was a big Myth Romney supporter, so I am going for Brown.
I do believe Cruz supports Paxton over Branch and gave him a shout out at one of his town hall meetings.
Yes, I think I am switching to Staples.
(((ping))) to Windflier if he has not seen this....
Wait! See the post right below my first one!
Tarrant County’s website is two years out of date.
You are correct.
Yes they do. I will look again later and post to this thread if I can find one.
LoL! Not always as easy as it seems.
Here is my list:
United States Senator Dwayne Stovall (R) NO MORE CORNYN!!!
United States Representative, District 6 Frank Kuchar (R) knows The Constitution better than I do and that is saying something!
Governor — Greg Abbott (R) good man
Lieutentant Governor Jerry Patterson my friend.
Attorney General Ken Paxton(R)
Comptroller of Public Accounts Harvey Hilderbran(R)
Commissioner of the General Land Office David Watts (R)
Commissioner of Agriculture — Eric Opiela (R) 5th generation rancher, I want someone close to the land for Ag commissioner.
Railroad commissioner - Malachi Boyuls
Chief Justice, Supreme Court — Nathan Hecht (R)
Justice, Supreme Court, Place 6, Unexpired Term — Jeff Brown (R)
Justice, Supreme Court, Place 7 — Jeffrey Boyd (R)
Justice, Supreme Court, Place 8 — Phil Johnson (R)
Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 2 W.C. Bud Kirkendall.
Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3 Bert Richardson
Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4 — Kevin Yeary (R)
State Representative, District 8 Bobby Vickery. my current rep Bryon Cook won’t answer phone calls, won’t answer emails. If you attend a meeting that he is at, he will be OUT THE DOOR before you can go shake his hand. He won’t press the flesh, kiss the babies or attend a debate put together in his honor. If he won’t meet when he is asking for votes, he will NEVER be around when you need him for your representative.
Cook was chair of the State affairs committee who didn’t let out one single prolife bill out of committee. I checked this fact with 3 prolife groups. They say he is the worst. If we can get rid of this rep. and 2 others the TX state house will improve immensely.
Several of the State wide offices have candidates being backed by Joe Straus. Harvey Hildebrand is one of those candidates. The reason why Empower Texans endorsed Hegar with a mediocre scorecard from them of 58 is BECAUSE they wanted to make sure there was a dog in the fight against Straus’ choice being elected.
Smitherman as another good conservative...”
Smitherman signed a $13.9M contract with CGI - the company that gave us the Obamacare website - to do the info tech and website redesign for the Texas Railroad Commissioner. Phase 1 is to begin May 2014. Sent letter in January asking why CGI of all companies in light of their disastrous performance in other areas including having some contracts cancelled. Never received any response from him. He should have pulled out of the race and be banished from Texas for such a stunt.
I just know too much about Glenn.
The only one on your list I actually disagree with is RRC.
I want Sitton.
But then, I am an oil and gas guy.
Patterson wants to greatly expand the guest worker program and is quite vocal about his position on the issue. Heard him speak at a dinner and he stated this is something he would actively pursue and anyone who votes for him needs to understand that will happen if he is elected.
Best of the bunch is Todd Staples.
WHOAAAAAAA! that is good enough for me, I will change my vote. One guy we need to get rid of is Straus!
I had Debra Medina on my list w/ Hildebrand and wondered why Hegar got an endorsement from prolife groups after his bad scorecard and then I found he had given them money. (pay for play?) so I had crossed him off my list.
But if it is a choice of defeating any person who is a Straus guy then I will go Hegar.
Do you have a source for this? I still won’t vote for Glenn, but I might vote for one of the others.
The Young Conservatives of Texas endorsed Hegar over Hildebran even though Hildebran is a former member of the YCT. Hildebran is Straus’ Ways and Means Chair.

To me, it’s telling that Empower Texans would quickly (he was one of their first endorsements) endorse Hegar even though Hegar has a mediocre score from their scorecard.
I’m not endorsing Hegar, mind you. I’m just pointing out that there are conservative groups backing him and I think the main reason they are doing so is in opposition to a Straus-backed candidate.
Yeah for you. I agree with all your other choices. Can’t vote until Friday but will take my list with me. Too many names and too short a memory!
It’s the guest worker thing that made me not like Patterson.
But he’s certainly OK!
Too bad. That's it for him, then. Staples, it is.
btw, I just got my copy of American Rifleman with their TX voter guide. They give a full page endorsement to Cornyn. Also endorsed RINO Pete Sessions.
I disagree on your selection of Dan Patrick. He’s a fraud. As soon as he got to Austin he joined the gopE and was fully behind Dewhurst against Cruz. He was on the radio constantly “explaining” to us idiots why we should vote for Dewhurst. And I’ll bet he’s also for Cornyn.
