Convention speeches: Ann Romney vs. Chris Christie
Vanity | 8/28/2012 | The Rhinelander

The buzz is that Ann Romney's speech was off the charts and that Chris Christie's speech was moderately good but didn't have the red meat people wanted. I tend to disagree. Christie's speech was fantastic but in a much more subtle way. He showed the stark differences. Thoughts?

Both good, Ann better, scripted Christie took some brightness off his appeal.

I thought that Gov. Christie’s speech was one of his best speeches. He sounded like his is on fire.

Ann Romney, I missed her speech.

I saw it the same way you did: Ann was fine but I thought Chris Christie was great. To me, he outlined the challenges we face as a country. I don’t know what she could have said that would change my impression. They are both preaching to the choir. BTW, I am a woman and didn’t necessarily feel any connection with her. Not that I didn’t like her, it just didn’t move the needle for me.

I think Christie’s speech was written by GOPe consultants and he just read if off the page.

My sister in law said Ann Romney’s speech brought tears to her eyes, then she added she was on her feet clapping and cheering over Christie’s speech.
I don’t know either way, I was watching reruns of Big Bang Theory.

I liked the subtle attacks, but we need to ramp it up. Christie sounded like he was running. ‘stand up with ME’

Chris Christie believes in man-made global warming.
he is not against illegal immigration.
he is not against Obamacare.
he is pro-Islam.
...
how is he different from Obama ?
the only good thing about him,
is he makes Romney look like a true conservative...

Juan Williams is a jackwagon.

That may sound tangential, but it's not if you watched Fox News.

Christie set the stage for the nominees to tackle the big issues.

He reassured the audience it can be done, and asked all of us to get behind the tem.

Goal accomplished.

Ann was very natural and effective. She revealed their humble roots, and very importantly that part of the mitt mystique is his humbleness.

Have seen examples of this in another post on the forum. Example, he paid for the education of a deceased friends children.

Mitt could use Christie’s advice about being yourself so you don’t have to remember who you pretended to be the day before.

I thought both speeches very good in their own way. Mrs Romney's obviously was aimed at the woman's vote. And she did it with out a teleprompter

I held my breath at the thought of how Gov Christie would speak, knowing he can be a bomb thrower thereby opening himself up to ridicule not from the Dems but the Lame Stream Media. But he threw bombs in a very Reagan like way that indeed framed what needs to be done (IMHO): It is time for us, as a new greatest generation, to save America as our parents/grand parents did from the Axis and the USSR. The challenge is as great.

I agree with "the buzz."

Christie is better when he is talking off the cuff when agitated, IMO.

I thought Ann delivered hers like a pro!

You men remember she was talking to women!

Ann showed herself to be a gracious, intelligent and loving mother and wife.

IMHO Christy was self-serving

Christie praised the G.I. bill and Ann praised free scholarships for a quarter of high school students. So they have the meme of getting your college education paid for by someone else in common.

I liked them both. Ann Romney is a classy lady, who would bring a little proper back to the position of FLOTUS. Christie did a good job of laying out philosophical differences in the dominant ideologies of the day. I LOVE that Obama was persona non grata.
