Influence of Palin and Tea Party Wanes in Early Contests (I hope they actually believe that!)
The New York Times ^ | February 2, 2012 | Michael D. Shear

In October, Sarah Palin announced that she would not run for president in 2012, ending the media frenzy around her potential candidacy even as she vowed to remain politically active and influential.

“I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets,” she wrote in an e-mail to her supporters.

Just over three months later, her attempts to wield influence in the presidential campaign the way she did during the 2010 midterm elections have largely fizzled.

And the Tea Party movement that she helped to turn into a powerful political force in 2010 has so far displayed little impact on the course of the 2012 Republican presidential campaign.

Over the last two weeks, Ms. Palin has urged voters in South Carolina and Florida to vote for Newt Gingrich as a way of striking back against the Republican establishment in Washington and against liberals.

“If for no other reason, rage against the machine, vote for Newt. Annoy a liberal. Vote Newt. Keep this vetting process going, keep the debate going,” Ms. Palin said on Fox News two days before Tuesday’s primary in Florida.

Ms. Palin, who pointedly said she was not endorsing anyone in the Republican contest, draped her remarks in the anti-establishment rhetoric of the Tea Party, saying that Washington Republicans who oppose Mr. Gingrich were fighting against the cause of freedom....

“due to HRP”

I lost two good friends over that. They both were life long Republicans and conservatives, that decided they wanted to, “send a message to Washington.” Thanks to that jug eared idiot and gullible people like them, what we actually sent to Washington was an ultra liberal pervert and his communist wife. Some message. If somebody from the right jumps in as a third party, I fear we could easily see the same thing happening this year.

You’re still wet behind the ears and don’t have a clue or proof to back up that stupid post.

You need to sit on the sidelines and learn a little while longer before making an ass out of yourself.

Anybody ever stop to think that there might have been a last minute family reason to not run? I still believe something happened to block a run, whether a personal reason or some shennanigins by the GOP , we may never know. Somebody on one of the blogs with a contact in DC - said that the rumor was going around that campaign people were warned not to join a Palin campaign- or else. Myself, my mind keeps going back to the interview with Greta a few weeks before she announced her desision. She seemed shaken up, and not herself. It was right after the Bristol/ bar incident. I will always wonder if the guy accosting Bristol didn’t bring home to her how dangerous a run could be for her kids and family.

Unfortunately the situation is that Romney is headed to victory—and then a likely loss. Neither the Tea Party nor Palin has had much influence (or even attempted much influence) down ticket either.

Further, for all the Tea Party victories in 2008, they weren’t able to make the GOP in Congress budge on spending or Obamacare.

Palin and her family have made a lot of money, but the people’s rebellion against Obama and his politics has fizzled a slow death.

At the risk of being royally raked over the coals, I seriously thing Gov Palin should consider a independent run for the WH.

I have no idea what deadlines may or may not be for such a run, to be on all 57 States, but I think she should consider this, assuming Romney is the guy.

Who knows how the vote could be split, maybe fat Rosanne could take a few votes away from Obuma, maybe Ron Paul will run and get Obuma`s youngsters?

Perhaps she would only need 30% or thereabouts to pull off a win?
