Let me start out by saying that I like Herman Cain. I think his story is inspiring, I think he is a great orator, and I like (in some ways) that he isn't a career politician. However, the more I learn about Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 plan the less I want him to be the President of the United States.
Although, I like the "idea" of having a non-politician as our leader, in many ways it bothers me that he has no elected official record. Politics is a nasty business and if someone has never experienced it and we have no record of how that person would react under pressure, it is more than a little disconcerting. Washington and politics changes people. How many times have you seen a freshman congressman or senator go into his first year with high ideals and great ideas only to come out exactly the same as every other politician? There are politicians who have been able to stick to their principles but many times we don't know what will happen with these politicians until they have been in office for several years and here we are wanting to give the highest office in the land to a man who has NO record. Not a local record, not a state record, and certainly not a national record. All we have are his words and as we already know talk is cheap.

Why do we have to do that? Do you have copyright issues with yourself that you can't just post the whole thing here?
You are being a classic blog-pimp. Just post your whole blog entry and everything would be cool, nobody would be complaining about your attempt to steer hits to your website.
I'm disappointed you managed to play the race card in less than 20 posts into the blog-pimp's thread. Especially disappointed you could spend a decade on FR and not grasp this. For shame. Peddle your race war elsewhere.
Welcome to FR, Newbie. Who’s your candidate? And did you know that FreeRepublic is a conservative forum? We believe in the US Constitution and the Constitution makes no requirement that a candidate for the presidency be an experienced politician. None. In fact, kids in this country have grown up since its inception with the idea that they could aspire to the presidency and someday attain it. I see nowhere in the Constitution that requires one to become a career politician in order to attain that office. Do you?
So, are you saying that having career, inside-the-beltway, politicians is fine, and that our crop of potential candidates for the presidency should come through them? Or if not solely them, then perhaps our governorships? Is that where this idea against Herman Cain is leading? Bad, bad bad.
Oh, and thanks for pimping your blog...
(Oh, ~~~Please!~~~ Read-Share-Love my blog with me! I do ~so~ love it when you read-share-love my blog.....)
Thank you for the defense. This is actually my first post here and nowhere does it say that information about posting to your blog - at least that you can find easily. Don’t worry the same mistake will not happen twice - I don’t feel like dealing with the so called Pimp Busters - who apparently ignore the rule about personal attacks. :o) Thanks again.
That comment was aimed squarely at a small group of so-called FReepers, especially one who made an audaciously racist comment regarding Cain the other day.
Those guys are jerks.
Thanks for understanding about excerpting and welcome to Free Republic.
I agree with you about the PimpBusters.
What a bunch o’ maroons!
Nothin’ but nin-cow-poops.
They should be punished by having cookies put on their hard drives and stuff like that.
Imagine! Making fun of such a bright (and lovely) new FReeper without even giving her the chance to learn the ropes.
Ashamed! That’s what they should be! Ashamed!
OK. Sorry, I should have known you better.
I look forward to reading your blogs in the future, Mom. You sound like one of the good ones, so welcome to FR.
Let me start out by saying how little I respect blog pimps.
Thank you so much for your vile language, hateful personal attacks, and pathetic ignorance. Apparently I am a blog pimp. That might hold more water if I had actually done it more than ONCE. Nowhere that is easily found does it say anything about posting to your own blog. I didn’t know this until after I was attacked over and over and over and over and over again. Only ignorant people resort to personal attacks to get their message across. If I could have figured out how to take my blog down and fix it I would have but so far I haven’t been able to figure that out. From now on I will make sure that I do it correctly. Thank you to all of the people who came to my defense and actually understood that this was not an intentional disregard for the rules. To all the others - God bless you.
Unfortunately, there isn't a clear warning to blog owners that some members of FR may view their posting excerpts of their own material as 'pimping' their own blog site for hits.
Jim Robinson, the owner of Free Republic, set up a separate folder just for blog postings, yet some people are very sensitive to the idea that some bloggers may be trying to raise revenues to their sites by posting excerpts here. It's a concern that has merit, as some bloggers have actually misused Free Republic that way.
Anyway, welcome to the site. If you post your articles in full, you'll avoid attacks from the blogger police, and probably gain a following from Freepers.
I was not suggesting they should be running for POTUS!...but they would be equal to or better qualified yo do so.
Alan Keyes is another...he is and did and didn't get far.
Some of whom aren’t Conservative. I went down the list and commented on each. None are running for President. Cain is. He’s the best and most viable Conservative candidate we have. That’s why I and countless others support him.
Truth is, you have no clue what he would do if elected. You have assumptions but no facts.
The only thing he has done that I was witness to was the video with Bill Clinton about HillaryCare. I liked that.
Other than that, he is a blank slate. Talk is cheap.
Now I'm off to a Repub meeting with my State Rep who happens to be a black man named White!
And that's the truth!
Not guilty, but my chiropractor wants her to call and make an appointment for her cervical vertebral subluxation.
Look at the field in 2008. It was execrable. I disagreed with his endorsement. Jim DeMint endorsed Slick Willard, too, and it was just as wrong. But look at Perry’s endorsements for President... Gore, Giuliani... Those are terrible.
Problem is, YOU have no idea what Perry would do as President, either, but there’s enough out there currently to see what he might be. He’s already been exposed as a useful idiot for the cause of keeping a Tea Party Conservative away from the White House and that he’d be a puppet for the corrupted big-government RINO establishment. There’s enough circumstantial evidence to believe he’ll be business as usual, another Dubya. We can’t afford that.
