New Sarah Palin tell-all biography tells us more about ourselves
The Washington Post ^ | September 16, 2011 | Colbert I. King

Sarah Palin doesn’t deserve this. Neither does any other similarly situated public figure, whether on the political right, left or in the middle. But worthiness has nothing to do with this, not when there’s a chance of driving up book sales and bringing down the celebrity you despise at the same time.

Enter Joe McGinniss.

His new book, “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,” claims that the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate had a tryst in 1987 with basketball star Glen Rice when he was in Alaska to play in a tournament with his University of Michigan team. Whether it’s true or false, the story is making the rounds. It’s a shame.

If the book was supposed to be about Sarah Palin, then it should have been about Palin.

This episode isn’t. There was no Sarah Palin in 1987. At the time of the Thanksgiving Great Alaska Shootout basketball tournament at the University of Alaska in Anchorage nearly 25 years ago, the 23-year-old woman who allegedly hooked up with Rice was an unmarried TV sports reporter named Sarah Heath.

This has nothing to do with today’s Sarah Palin. It’s irrelevant and none of our business.

To justify McGinniss’s prying eyes, my Post colleague Erik Wemple, who blogs on the media, noted that Palin had indicated in a 2006 Eagle Forum questionnaire that she supported funding abstinence-only education programs instead of teaching sex-education programs. “Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support,” Palin reportedly wrote in the conservative group’s questionnaire.....

So we are just supposed to sit back and allow her to be “Destroyed” if she gets destroyed what does that say for the rest of us..why even have an election if they are going to destroy every single person on our side. Mark Levin was right when he said yesterday we have to stand up for ourselves and not allow this to occur..we have to defend our own

You mean it wouldn’t matter if we keep electing people who will clean the bastards out of D.C.??? And how can she be destroyed if we keep supporting her?

How can you say that?

Personally I think any run for POTUS is over. A person can only stand so much but that doesn’t mean she can’t be a huge part of changing this country from what it’s become.

This “level” of attack against Palin from both Parties is beyond anything in a long, long, long time. (the sexualized attacks raises the bar pretty far.)

It’s almost demonic to me if one believes in such things - this goes far beyond typical left vs right, i hate you vs you hate me stuff.

You’re right SB. This country is becoming unrecognizable. It’s beginning to remind me of those disaster scenes that always came at the end of a James Bond movie. Worst of all - during all this our kids are being indoctrinated.

Next November is too far away.

I don’t know whether or not the Rice story is true (It probably isn’t considering the source. Little Joey needs to sell some books.) but it does appear that the liberal ‘RATS might have a problem with black men and white women. And then they call Gov. Palin the racist. It’s a ****ed up world out there Charlie Brown.

Yes she is and I believe you hit the nail on the head. She did that in Alaska and went after both sides that were corrupt.I believe the entrenched bureaucracy see her as ending their gravy train and they are in an all out war to keep her from DC.I honestly think she would “shake things up” as in an earthquake that just may land all of the guilty parties in handcuffs and restore DC to the people.

Even if she doesn’t run for President, she would be a GREAT energy secretary..she would play a huge role in any Republican Administration..and in 2016(God willing we take back the White House in 2012) she could run..but its all up to Sarah, whatever she decides I am fine with and totally support. After all the hell she has been through(And continues to go through) whatever decision she makes is fine with me

We’ve become a sick angry country and I blame much on Hollywood and the entertainment media that have dumbed down society, the political pundits whose job it is to incite the masses, and corrupt politicians who have sold us out as a nation but still retain an incumbency lock on their cushy well paid job, because they’ve taken care of their lobbyists and those with the money who keep them in power.

Everyone hates everyone else and enjoys the act of tearing everyone else down. United States - what’s that? You need to wonder how it will all end.

If our society is truly sick, the media has been a major carrier of the virus.

These are the same media jackals who defended Bill Clinton's sexual escapades as just sex and none if our business.

definition of demagoguery:......... impassioned appeals to the prejudices and emotions of the populace.......

Sarah Barracuda......you took care of King’s blather about Sarah being a narcissist and opportunist so well I will restrict my comment to his assertion that somehow she is practicing demagoguery.......I took the time to post the definition of the word above.

In making this assertion, Mr. King once again exposes the hypocrisy of the left. The several hundred dims in Congress “daily” play the class warfare card to buy votes and buy personal power for themselves thereby “appealing to the emotions and prejudices of the populace”.

Mr. King, a learned black man, is also aware that anytime anyone seriously goes after Mr. Obama, who is half black, it’s not 5 minutes before the race card is played.....................once again in an “appeal to the emotions and prejudice of the populace”.

I could go on and on with a long list of such hypocrisies utilized by the left every minute of every day in the written press and every talk show on TV but I will stop with these two.

Clearly, Mr. King is either a vacant minded naught and unaware; OR, he is simply practicing “normal” FAR LEFT Dimocratic politics. As we all witnessed in the Wiener replacement election in NY the other night, the public at large clearly demonstrated it is sick of the freakin FAR LEFT democrats and their hypocricy!!! That that seat has been won by a democrat in the past 44 elections seems only noticed, among lefties, by proud lefty Carville who correctly advises his fellow marxists that it is time to “Panic”.

“Demonic” is completely accurate. We battle in the spirit.

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians outlines this....

It’s not that SP can win; she will win. She knows this, but it is a difficult mantle to take up.

We will all rejoice on the other side someday.

You know, I’m starting to think that’s why some of the more decent liberal members of the media are starting to be a tad more decent toward Palin.

It has struck them that she may well be our country’s first president—and come to be known as the smart and effective leader that she is. They don’t want to be on the wrong side of history as particularly, blatantly sexist, unfair and nasty toward her.

(Yes, I know it’s way too late to undo three years of nastiness.)

This is another leftist media trick. They can keep parroting the slander while at the same time condemning it. They want to make SURE you’ve heard the story even as they pretend to shame the messenger.

Tomorrow, a different columnist will run another piece that will tsk McGinnis for reporting that Sarah Palin had sex with a black guy and while it’s none of our business whether SARAH PALIN HAD SEX WITH A BLACK GUY, we want to assure our readers that we have higher journalistic standards than report that SARAH PALIN HAD SEX WITH A BLACK GUY even though it makes SARAH PALIN LOOK LIKE A HYPOCRITE, we at the Washington Post condemn such trashy journalism.

The following day, Eugene Robinson will publish a column in the Post condemning the report that SARAH PALIN HAD SEX WITH A BLACK GUY, inferring that the black guy was exploited by a white woman for black men’s superior sexual prowess and note that all white society is racist or they wouldn’t care that SARAH PALIN HAD SEX WITH A BLACK GUY.

Yada, yada, yada.

The point is that they want to continue to echo the story even as they condemn it just to make sure you’ve heard the story.

This is similar to the “Dick Cheney’s daughter is gay” story from the 2004 elections. If they truly believed it was none of our business, they wouldn’t report it at all.

I do believe in demonic warfare...like Paul said: its’ not flesh and blood that we are fighting.

The WAR has already been won, its just that the battles in between MUST still be carried out. We have to endure to the end and Sarah knows that.

This isn't vetting. It is the ugliest kind of slander.

Nobody deserves this, but because Sarah dared to question the status quo, she became public enemy number one.

Why do I keep thinking she is ultimately going to be the one with the last laugh when all is said and done?
