During Perry's Tenure in Texas, Spending in Texas grew from about 49 Billion a year, to over 90 Billion a year. Texas budgets every 2 years, to the following show the budgets for both Bi-annums. Divide by two for average yearly spending.
Texas 2010-2011 Budget 182 Billion

Texas 2000-2001 Budget was ~98 Billion and is available at
http://www.lbb.state.tx.us/Bill_76/Bill-76-4_Conference_Summary_0599.pdf
In other words CLOSE to 100% Growth in spending. (from 49 B to 91 B)
During this time, the Census says Texas grew from 20 Million (2000 Census) to 25 Million (2010 Census). Thats a growth of 25 Percent.
So much for Perry's Fiscal Conservative Credentials.
I also know Palin has no experience dealing with a real budget when most of Alaska's money comes from taxing oil companies and federal welfare.
I also know Palin has no experience dealing with a real budget issues when her state has no sales tax or income tax and the only way it generates revenue is from taxing it's great supply of natural resources and from other states giving it money
If you expect a person to vote for Palin (of course your too gutless to say who you support) you need to promote her accomplishments and why she would do better than Perry and then show how she did it because taxes and welfare do not stimulate the economy.
You are so right. People have lost their minds.
I’ll tell you one place where Texas spends a ton of money, and that is on the highways. I don’t know where they get all the money, but they are constantly doing highway maintenance and construction. On the other hand, I can drive 90 miles into LA, and the road conditions deteriorate immediately, especially if you get off the interstate. Texas’ secondary highways are pretty darn good. At least in TX you can see where some of the money goes.
Nope, did not want money from ancestors.
Nor did I inhierit a single acre.
I worked my way through college, and have been employed 25+ years paying my taxes.
How can you accuse someone of something when you don’t even know the facts?
In fact, I am on the “other” side of the state from the petitioners you mentioned. But you probably don’t know that’s a full days drive at 70+ MPH.
Excellent post.....and not at all boring. ;-)
Yep, we need to fix that. We have a couple but we need more!
This is not intended as an insult. There is a lot of bad information out there right now. Here are the unemployment rates of all 50 states and DC.

this is why “professional” politicians should be banned.
People should run for office.
Pretty mild growth of spending. How much did income grow?
The federal interstate act is where they get the money.
Here is an article with Texas spending adjusted for population growth and inflation: http://blogs.star-telegram.com/politex/2011/07/texas-spending-under-bush-and-perry-in-one-graph.html
Perry just announced and hasn't spent much time or money running. He hasn't been plastered all over and isn't in the forefront of peoples mind as a candidate.

For him to be where he is without really having been center stage in the national media or as a contender for this office is actually quite impressive.
Income grew less than spending.
Its not a mild growth, it’s higher than the federal growth rate, both of which are higher than inflation rates by 2-3x.
there is no hope for this country if people are not against spending no matter who is spending it.
Just because it’s your pork, does not mean it’s not port-barrel spending.
This is ruining this country, and yet people want to play politics.
We can no longer afford big spending democrats OR republicans.
BTW, there is a 40 Billion deficit in texas this year (that’ about 40% of the size of the budget).

UH huh, that’s approxamately 4.6 billion per year. Considering the increased security.(9-11) Federally mandated programs as well as natural disasters. The increases in Food Stamp and Medicaid benes mandated. Sounds pretty low to me. And we STILL didn’t have to institute a State personal income tax. HUMMM.
That does it then! I'm never gonna vote for him! Don't people realise that there's no way that Ronald Reagan would ever want us to vote for someone who used to be a Democrat? We gotta be true to the Gipper, donchaknow!
Hutchinson made Dole look like a conservative.
That’s why he won the Primary.
The democratic joke from Houston is why he won the General.
There is no other conclusion that can be drawn from a lot of the posting in the past 24, than that a number of "conservatives" are just fine with that.
To quote a great American who has a radio show... "It's unbelievable."
later
Yes but Ronald Reagan changed his ways.
Rick endorsed Rudy Guiianni as recently as the last election cycle.
He could have endorsed ANYBODY but instead he endorsed the most liberal (the RINO from NY)
