This afternoon Sarah Palin issued a vague threat to freshman Republicans just ahead of the House vote on a bill to reduce the deficit and raise the debt ceiling. Does Palin want Republicans to vote it down? She wouldn't say precisely. On her Facebook page, Palin cited quotations from a 2010 letter she issued to Republicans reminding them that they "campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending... promises that you must keep." She punctuated her reminder with an ominous post script: "P.S. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries."
So does that mean she's threatening to run hard-right candidates against Republicans who vote for the bill supported by House Speaker Boehner in the next election? A number of conservative Republicans were upset that the GOP's Cut Cap and Balance bill was abandoned. But those left puzzling over her Facebook postings were just as confused as we are.
Sheila Marikar at ABC News writes:
"That could be a threat -- suggesting that she wont support members of Congress who vote to raise the debt ceiling or a reference to her 2012 aspirations."
CNN's political unit:
"Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it." She has also been a proponent of the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" pledge passed through the Republican-controlled House and failed in the Senate."
But Jim Geraghty at National Review has it all figured out:
"If she were any clearer, they would have woken up with horses heads in their beds this morning."
For Geraghty, it's clear she's asking them to vote against the Boehner bill. Giving Boehner a little support, he justifies the speaker's position.
Of course, in the eyes of John Boehner and his allies, his plan is the best remaining option to stick to the principles that propelled their campaigns, rein in out-of-control government spending, and so on. And its not like Boehners plan is generating much pats on the back from the Left in the media.
For someone who supposed doesn't matter anymore, Sarah Palin sure has the LSM and the GOP-E shaking in their boots with this post. They're scared of her.
It IS the right plan.
And to this day, J.D. fiercely defends her against lib attacks in the media. I heard him not too long ago on WMAL DC Talk Radio putting a couple of snarky libs in their place after they took shots at Sarah.
And in that one appearance, she campaigned for McCain but never said one word against J.D. She threaded that needle perfectly.
So what’s AIP’s plan?
...like Kremlinologists used to try and figure out ‘Who’s Who’ based on where certain people are standing at the May Day parade?

Love the analogy! And you are so right.
For someone who supposed doesn’t matter anymore....

Yeah, I wonder why they pay so much attention to someone who is so dumb, can’t get elected, etc. /s
The Senate can guffaw all they want, but if the pubbie House refuses to increase the debt ceiling, then it cannot be increased. There is NOTHING the Senate or Obama can do about it but moan & complain. That sir, is “not one penny more”.
Now, you can speculate about who gets the blame when gov’t grinds to a partial halt, & who loses in 2012 as a result, but what I said above is not speculation, it is fact.
I will speculate about one thing. If the TEA Party conservatives stop an increase of the debt ceiling, they will be easily reelected in 2012 by the very same people who sent them to WDC in 2010 - PO’ed Americans who believe enough is enough & not one penny more.
Without any skin in the game, you're just playing fantasy football.
Prefect description of you and your party!
Phenomenal PDS in the spin presented in this article. The left and the RINOS are pishing themselves, Sarah is beginning a roll out.Sarah will have no problem defeating the dems, they are defeating themselves.
The real battle will be for the Republican Party, or whether there will be a 3rd party. Once that is clear, then there will be quite a campaign season either way.
Either way the Dems are goners. This last week put paid to that. Thats why the bluebloods are digging their heels in.
ROFL
They should be.
Mrs. Palin tells it like it is and has a really, large and powerful megaphone.
YES SHE CAN! YES SHE CAN! YES SHE CAN!
Doesn’t “Madame President” or “Mrs. President” have a nice ring to it ?
Maybe you didn’t unerstand my pont Yes, The House says what can and can’t be spent. But with that, no matter what they pass, they are NOT in control. Real control will not happen UNTIL WE control both houses and the presidency. THAT was my point. The government could shut now and chaos would reign but at what price? Riots in the streets? An opportunity for obama to order martial law? THEN what?
You seem tto think that the democrats would not absolutely welcome such a scenario. They are already planning for it.
There is evil going on in DC and we have to figure out HOW to stop it.
At this point, I honestly believe in my heart, and I have some pretty good company, that if we do NOT find at least a short term solution to this, a stall tactic to appease a CRAZY and vindictive obama until the next election, we will not HAVE another election.
No real solution is possible unless we win in 2012. But we have to get there. The damage the dems could do with the help of the thug unions and obama’s black constituency between now and then is too terrible to contemplate. And don’t think for one second that he would not rile them up because he would and it would be bloody. He doesn’t care what happens to this country. He doesn’t care about them, or you, or me.
These are not normal times. We have a full blown enemy in the White House.
He spells it Boehner and pronounces it “bay-ner”. I spell it boner and pronounce it “bay-ner”
I guess you missed my last correction to you? She said she is not for the debt limit being raised, but that she believes they will raise it anyway! With that as the drop back, she says CCB is the best there is :)
Here is a lady (brilliant, savy, conservative, and moral) heavily influencing an entire party - as a completely unannounced candidate - from her Facebook page.
Not only that, but she has both sides of the isle, most of the msm (both right and left) wondering, reporting, and generally guessing about who, what, where, when, how, etc.!
What an incredible person she is!!
No more borrowing. We've borrowed beyond what this generation can repay, and spending posterity's money is immoral. It robs them of their God-given, unalienable right to government by consent.
Cut every program and agency that isn't explicitly allowed by the Enumerated Powers.
The budget will balance.
