With a lot of media attention, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited the nations capital over the weekend to kick off a bus tour, in which she will visit various national landmarks. But some see the trip as a campaign stunt for a possible 2012 presidential campaign.
On Mondays Special Report, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer offered his thoughts on the bus tour, but admitted he wasnt clear on what was motivating it.
I dont know its more eccentric than usual, this event, Krauthammer said. She says she is going around to highlight the foundation of the country. I dont want to be picky but generally we say the founding of the country. I know Ill get e-mail on that.
Regardless of the motivation for the tour, Krauthammer suggested it would keep Palins brand fresh. He also noted that it would be problematic if both Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Palin ran for president, citing an unscientific Fox News poll.
But does the country need reminding about the Constitution and the Gettysburg Concord, which is not in New Hampshire, its in Massachusetts? Im not sure what she is doing except to say Im with Juan [Williams]. I think if she is still here with Fox, she is not running. She is not running. What I think she is doing to trying to keep the brand vibrant. During the next 18 months when all the attention will be to other candidates, and she showed what she can do. At Rolling Thunder she came, she saw, she sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There is nobody who can do that as she can. But as we saw in the poll, it looks as if she and Bachmann would be splitting this constituency that they have. And Bachmann, you know, this is unscientific poll but she clearly can represent that position and draw as Palin does, equally well.
Later during segment, Krauthammer clarified his remarks, saying he confused a Palin gaffe with a Bachmann gaffe.
Let me just say, it was Bachmann who slipped up on Concord, not Palin, Krauthammer said. I didnt mean to imply otherwise. But Bachmann is a stronger and more organized candidate for that constituency.

Shows she will manage the country’s resources and issues wisely.
I have a question: Where is all of the expert’s talk about a Representative not being able to get elected as Pres when it comes to Bachmann? They really pounded that home with Mike Pence.
You need to hand out a bag of ice if you're gonna kick that hard.
Now Kraut’s saying Bachmann could beat the Gov.
The last Congressman to get elected was I think James A. Garfield in 18-somthing. Not a good election history for Congress members.
Two words -- Hell! Yes!
What a condescending snob.
Chuck is a bit... eccentric... himself.
Not many people more eccentric than Charles.
If we listened to the Country Clubbers we would have never won any seats in Nov. Have they said one positive thing about the TEa Party?
The Krauthead has his position as the holier than thou pundit on the 5pm Central Fox News show. He’s obviously a shill for Romney and/or Pawlenty so you should not expect any favorable comments about Palin. As a matter of fact, he despises her so much he was actually complimentary of Bachmann over her. Of course he had no use for Bachmann either, he just wants to trash Palin. His remarks on that show were absolutely disgusting. He is already aware that he is getting a lot of flak for his idiot remarks, as he so alluded in his commentary. Fox needs to dump him and the Weekly Standardless clowns that are on that show.
Another useless Faux News tool.
Maybe Krauthammer should walk these statements back... Oh... right.
What an absolutely delicious scenario!
I noticed that too.
However, they just think Palin supporters are Palinbots.
you betcha!
Like a man thirsting in the desert, conservatives thirst for media that will truly represent the truth and when FOX exhibited the tiniest bit of that, they were crowned as the “conservative” network and fully embraced. I do think that FOX at one time tried to live up to their ‘fair and balanced’ mantra, but have pretty much embraced the true nature of most of the media today and do not report, rather they try to ‘make’ the news in their own image.
And Sarah is the only one I trust.
