How Donald Trump Can Become President
Business Insider ^ | April 2, 2011 | David Seaman

Posted on 04/02/2011 2:28:51 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Donald Trump recently did a rather classy and unexpected thing: he printed out a Business Insider piece I had written about him, wrote some comments on top of it, and sent it to me -- via one of his assistants, of course, but still very cool for a writer to get a handwritten note from The Donald in response to a blog post.

Reminds me of a reporter who told me many years ago she used to get handwritten comments and little "corrections" from Michael Eisner when she wrote articles about Disney for The Wall Street Journal back in the day. (I have no idea if that's true, but either way, it's neat to imagine the busy chief executive of one of the nation's most powerful media companies sitting down with a pen and line-editing a reporter's piece. Deliciously old school.)

Anyway, because Trump did a seriously cool thing, here's some FREE* advice for him on how he can win the presidency, if he really even wants that encumbered position. (Why does advice always have to be monetized, by the way? Overpaid Ivy League political "consultants" who have never set foot in a Wal-Mart, nor flown coach even once, nor enjoyed Bill Maher's favorite substance, even in college -- these cretins should only get to cash those fat paychecks if their guy wins.)

1. You've done a lot of business deals over the years... er, decades. Business can get messy. Everyone in America gets that.

Rather than apologize for past deals, which you would never do anyway, just say what resonates with everyone: "I did what I had to do to get to where I am today." No one except for perhaps some self-righteous MoveOn.org newsletter editor would object to that statement....

I actually don’t see it as “American Idolism”.
Certainly, there will be some of that.

But Trump talks about ISSUES that resound with Americans. China. Jobs. Losing our manufacturing base.

These issues resonate more with your average American than “Some sheep herder in Afghanistan is gonna kill us all, so we have to go to war”

I read that in 1999

Well, a lot has changed since 1999. Ask yourself: "Did Reagan wait 12 years after leaving the DNC before he started his first run for office?"

I'm not here trying to stump for Trump. I am here merely to set the record straight so we all have our blinders OFF before going to the polls to vote. Palin, Bachmann, Cain, the Schmuckmeister, Grin-and-cringe, McRomney, Trump, none of them is perfect. What we have to ask ourselves is which one is the most forthright & honest. Which one is not willing to back down on any given point. Which one is giving us real solutions, not just political rhetoric such as "this is broken so we must fix it", then not tell us specifically how they will fix it.

So far Trump is the only one that has willing to encompass them all. All the others either take a hard stage right & evade it or they outright dismiss it. Even Cain isn't calling for Obama to release his bc. He merely said he would release his if he was asked to. I'm more than disappointed that WND spun that one with a bogus headline. But I digress, getting back to the point...

I am not just talking about the birth certificate. As important as it is, everything along with it is equally important. Every issue is equally important when it involves the Constitution & following the rule of law for the sake of out national & economic security for future generations. We need a president who will leave the nation in better shape than when it was placed in his hands.

Thanks for replying. The link about supporting partial-birth abortion doesn't offer much. Not even a quote. As for the tax that certainly isn't purely conservative but it is interesting. It could have been worse.

Trump, toying with a bid for the Reform Party nomination, yesterday announced the highly unorthodox plan, which would slap fat cats such as The Donald himself with a one- time 14.25 percent tax on their entire net worth. Trump's personal contribution: $725 million.

Trump, describing the first proposal of his exploratory presidential campaign, said the tax would raise $5.7 trillion, enough to pay off the national debt in a single year. And eliminating the debt, Trump explained, would save the nation $200 billion in annual interest payments, money that he said could be used for tax cuts and ensuring the future stability of the Social Security system.

Besides, the wealthy few it would target -- people and trusts worth more than $10 million -- "could afford it," Stone said.

The O’Reilly interview last week, Trump was granted 3 weeks to return a decision on the abortion issue. I’m sure you can find O’Reilly on your own

So far Trump is the only one that has willing to encompass them all.

He is also the biggest clown and buffoon among them all.

His spat with Rosie was probably the most unpresidential thing he could have on a resume.

What I am trying to say is I want a candidate with solid conservative instincts, not someone who has to think about it.

Listening to Trump on Obama’s origins, China/middle east and other economic issues, our muslim problem, and American prestige around the world makes me wonder what Republicans plan to do to get elected, if not the status quo wrapped in a few token words about lowering spending a few billion dollars.

I’m quite happy to hear these and any other issues Trump will speak about.

Mostly, I think that hearing him do what he’s done the past couple weeks makes me realize how inadequate every single GOP candidate or prospective candidate really is. They are all afraid to confront obama, or the democrats because they might get negative vibes from the media. They are all afraid. Trump doesn’t sound afraid.

Trump needs to keep doing his thing. At this point, he’s the only one doing what should be done. He gets credit for that, and he gets consideration as a candidate, as he’s actually earned it.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I love it when Trump calls Obama a disaster and then gives ten detailed examples why. It is refreshing after years of MSM propaganda.

OK, for the record:

Trump: “I'm pro-life, I didn't used to be”

O’Reilly: “Would you outlaw abortion”

Trump: “I'm still forming an opinion on that, let me get back to you in a few weeks”

O’Reilly: “Alright”

Hardly what you claim he said. Trump is smart on this. He obviously is researching the history & rulings from the Supreme Court on the subject. So now point me in the direction of a video or article where I can find any other candidate who has publicly announced that, if elected president, they would abolish abortion nationwide. As far as I know, all they all have ever said is that they too are pro-life.

This hardly reflects badly on Trump

Actualy, I suggest he go to the Food Emporium in his building on 68th street. Americans will be shocked to see how expensive food is there. He should not, however, talk about the gourmet chocolate shop there or of the tea shop.

I do not disagree with Trump saying this, but he does not use it a every turn of the topic like every other candidate does. He says it once then moves on to spell out how he plans to address the disaster Obama as well as the current Congressional leaders have made. He specifically calls out Congress as having a big role in the disaster that Obama has made. Trump calls them all out on the carpet. He takes charge of the debate instead of letting others take charge of what they think he should say. He knows exactly what he is doing and he is doing it well.

You know, I could really get behind Palin if she would just step up and be more forthright like Trump instead of always talking from a political talking points memo. She needs to dump whoever is writing those & always speak from the heart and not a piece of paper like she did during the 2008 campaign. But until she does, she simply doesn't have what it take to lead this nation. A leader can not always be consulting talking point notes. A leader must be able to buck the establishment like she did in 2008 and "GO ROGUE"! BTW, I loved the book.

As I said, please point me directly to the video or to the article that quotes Palin or Bachmann, word for word that, if elected, they would abolish abortion.

We made great stride in SD this year when the Gov signed the new abortion bill that requires a waiting period before any abortion can take place. Of course the libs have already filed for an injunction until they have their day in court but no worries. We won the last one & we'll win this one also. We are smart & we know that Rome wasn't built in a day & we know that baby steps taken to impede the abortion process is better than losing the battle all in one fell swoop. If you were truly with the program, you would have known this was the smart way to proceed. So, what are you doing in your state on this issue? Did you get a stronger mandatory waiting period passed yet? Ummm...NOPE! 24 hrs is hardly a deterrent to the process.

I think it would have been paired with a permanent elimination of the death tax.

I’m a Bachmann, Cain fan but if it gets down to Mitt, Huck and The Donald I’d vote Trump.
