Sarah Palin may be a media phenom, but disgruntled New Hampshire Republican leaders are still waiting to learn when the top GOP contender will visit the key primary state.
Several groups have asked her to come, but shes playing it cool, said Diane Bitter, chairwoman of the Rye Republican Town Committee. Last year we were told that she wouldnt come, and recently people have gotten the same response.
The first state in the nation to hold a presidential primary, New Hampshire is already seeing GOP presidential hopefuls canvass the state. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, U.S. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty all have visited in recent months, and Mitt Romney who owns a vacation home in Wolfeboro is a frequent glad-hander and fund-raiser in the state.
Palin, meanwhile, has repeatedly ignored requests for appearances, according to town committee leaders.
A lot of people are surprised Palin hasnt made a visit or contact, said Manchester GOP chairman Cliff Hurst. Maybe shes getting enough press as it is.
If shes running for president, shes doing it in a different way, that we know, said Dennis Hogan, Nashua GOP chairman, adding, but different sometimes works.
As the Herald reported yesterday, the former Alaska governor has overshadowed Romney with a bestselling book, a hit reality show, and regular appearances on Fox News.
But analysts warn if Palin intends to skip Main Street meet-and-greets in favor of TV and Twitter, she may miss out on Granite State votes.
I get the impression that (Palin) is generally more interested in running a media-based campaign, rather than a grassroots campaign, said Jennifer Lucas, assistant professor of politics at St. Anselm College in Manchester. Here in New Hampshire, theres no evidence that works.
If Palin is our nominee, then its four more with Obama.
We need a genuine leader that MOST can stand behind.
are you joking around ?
Serious !
The stakes are too high to blow this
I knew you were a 2010 sign-up before I even looked. Tell me: Do you guys still get free pizza? Are you paid by the word, by the blog or some other way? Do they pay in dollars or Euros? How were you recruited? ACORN? LaRaza? SEIU? Nutroots Convention? DU/Kos poster? Mental patient?
Mike Pence voted against TARP
Im a conservative, giving $100 to ODonnell because Rove and the elites shut her off.
I also donate to this site.
Interesting point.
You should lobby your state legislators to move your primary date up, so that it occurs prior to NH's.
I'd love to watch the lefty MSM whining about having to camp out for days on end in North Dakota in January! Wouldn't that be fun?
I'll take you at your word for now. Just understand that this site is under attack from many who sign on simply to trash conservatives, primarily Sarah Palin at this point but not exclusively her by any means. We can tell them by the fact that they trash but offer no positives about anybody else.
You have mentioned Pence. Please tell me more about why you like him. Please discuss the positive, helpful ways candidates other than Palin could make a better POTUS. If you are constructive and actually HELP the Constitutional conservative movement you will have NO problem here at FR.
Again, we are under attack and are gun shy. Be positive and no problems. Attack conservatives and you will find great resistance.
And I thank you for your service
We’ll see.
>>What political positions should a candidate have in order to attract blue dogs and independents?<<
You are sort of misunderstanding the dynamics: like it or not, Mrs. Palin is damaged goods. Her grandchild out of wedlock when she calls for Family Values, her abandonment of the Governorship when she cold have fought the fight, her early complete misanalyses of the world situation (which gave rise to the tina fay “I can see Russia from My Porch” meme.
It isn’t about the reality — it is about the perception. And the perception of Mrs. Palin is not good.
The evils of the left are easy to see if ones eyes are open.
I’m not sold on Palin. Been called lots of names from a “troll” to a “liberal” if I even hint that I’d like to see someone else as the GOP candidate.
There are new faces, it’s aways out, IMO, to make my mind up about one candidate (especially since no candidate has actually announced they’re running, at least to my knowledge.)
However, I like Haley Barbour; others in my family like Christie. I’m not a Romney or Huckabee supporter, but it is automatically assumed if somebody is anti-Palin that they’re for Romney (you mentioned Newt, I don’t know anybody who’s for Newt.)
The name calling is over the top and not helpful to a constructive discussion. They do that over at DU, hopefully FR doesn’t go in that direction just because someone isn’t for Palin.
>>The actors who played Sgt. Schultz, SS Major Hochstetter, Colonel Klink and General Burchalder were all Jewish.<<
I think (and hope) they got satisfaction from portraying the Germans as idiots.
And I am of German heritage so I can say thusly.
>>Im not sold on Palin. Been called lots of names from a troll to a liberal if I even hint that Id like to see someone else as the GOP candidate.<<
You have that one correctly! I have yet to see how Mrs. Palin has made herself more electable since we last looked at her.
But pointing out political facts gets you notting but teeth-kicking-in.
I know one person that is for Newt, and that is Newt. I was able to get one of my son’s from being a Newt fan...It was easy, just emailed him everything Newty has said...it took a year, but finally succeeded...:O) He agree’s Newt is a nut...
I like Newt.. he would be a Great President !
That scene was stolen from a P.J. O’Rourke book. I think it was “Parliament of Whores.”
