Sarah Palin may be a media phenom, but disgruntled New Hampshire Republican leaders are still waiting to learn when the top GOP contender will visit the key primary state.
Several groups have asked her to come, but shes playing it cool, said Diane Bitter, chairwoman of the Rye Republican Town Committee. Last year we were told that she wouldnt come, and recently people have gotten the same response.
The first state in the nation to hold a presidential primary, New Hampshire is already seeing GOP presidential hopefuls canvass the state. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, U.S. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty all have visited in recent months, and Mitt Romney who owns a vacation home in Wolfeboro is a frequent glad-hander and fund-raiser in the state.
Palin, meanwhile, has repeatedly ignored requests for appearances, according to town committee leaders.
A lot of people are surprised Palin hasnt made a visit or contact, said Manchester GOP chairman Cliff Hurst. Maybe shes getting enough press as it is.
If shes running for president, shes doing it in a different way, that we know, said Dennis Hogan, Nashua GOP chairman, adding, but different sometimes works.
As the Herald reported yesterday, the former Alaska governor has overshadowed Romney with a bestselling book, a hit reality show, and regular appearances on Fox News.
But analysts warn if Palin intends to skip Main Street meet-and-greets in favor of TV and Twitter, she may miss out on Granite State votes.
I get the impression that (Palin) is generally more interested in running a media-based campaign, rather than a grassroots campaign, said Jennifer Lucas, assistant professor of politics at St. Anselm College in Manchester. Here in New Hampshire, theres no evidence that works.
Another witty sophisticate! Hospice Nurse = murderer, wonderfully intelligent political debate tactic. I would try to compete, but a Dancing with the Stars rerun is coming on.
It’s amazing how states like NH can’t make a decision on who to vote for unless a candidate takes up resident and holds their hands for two years. Living here in ND, we seldom see a candidate and yet, we vote more wisely than those other baby sat states.
Funny, I’d take you for an Ed Schultz viewer. You got the Palin-bashing part down pat. PDS trolls don’t last long on FR.
HospiceNurse’s FR life seems to begin and end with attacking Palin, her family, her intelligence, her anything.
“Well, you havent quit being a Palin thread troll. Remind me not to die in your hospice.”
ZANG! Nice one 2DV.
Should we alert the boss for zotting action ?
Interesting possibility.
I haven't decided who to vote for. I like Haley Barbour. I like DeMint. I may end up liking Palin if her supporters on FR would explain their positions rather than anointing her. We had “the One”; We can't afford the TWO.
BTW, I bought the complete series of “the Man from UNCLE” for my brother for Christmas. Do you think he will like it?
[I have never supported Romney, but that is the common pejorative on pro-palin posts. Never refute, just name call. Very progressive. ]
On the other hand, the anti-Palinistas seem quite shy about saying who they will support, and why that person beats Palin as a rallying point.
Go Newt! Just doesn’t get my blood moving. Who is your alternative???????????
should be a “?” after butter knife.
See below.
I respectfully submit that you will never like her. If you don’t like her now after she has been virtually the only potential candidate to call out Obama and the media then you never will. Just my humble opinion.
“Never refute, just name call. Very progressive.”
“When the goin’ gets tough——quit.”
With this post, you invited the replies you’ve received, sweetie.
Why don’t you try a different tack...?
Who the he** is Ed Schultz?"
All you do is go from thread to threat attacking Palin and her supporters. When called out on your trollish behavior, you play the victim.
>>I want to be polite but you’re really not living in any kind of reality.<<
I assume you mean Mrs. Plain can win as a POTUS candidate.
My FRiend, it is you who is not living in reality. You need to cast your gaze beyond the lions of excitement to see the horizon of the independents and blue dogs.
The calculus is pretty clear: Mrs. Palin is a distraction that could sink potential Tea Party friendly candidates.
And thank you for your respectful entry to the discussion. many at FR could and should use your approach as standard.
I am in accord with what she says. I question her competency based on her history.
I have skipped many more Palin threads than I have participated in. I objected to the poster's premise that not fighting Mitt for NH was somehow appropriate.
She doesn’t need New Hampshire. Take Iowa and South Carolina and let the snowball roll from Fairbanks to Des Moines and then through Dixie right on the way to the district of Columbia.
