So, we follow the dim rules and throw experience out the window as a qualification....yep, that worked in '08.
question wasn’t about experience or qualification, it was about Dem angst.
Both Brown and Palin have rabid support among the two largest voter groups in the US
Brown = so-called “independents” disenchanted dems and conservatives
Palin = conservative base
They are both genuine people, not pole tested pols, they are from two distinct areas of the country - Northeast & West
They would be a formidable force able to cut through directly to the American people and like teflon when it comes to media attacks (people aren’t buying it anymore).
Hunter/Palin - Palin/Hunter
with a little Cheney thrown in there someplace - just because...
Palin/Bachmann

Even then, a no for me.
My 85 yo mother (raised nine kids and has two masters) hit it on the head...Prior to being selected by McCain Palin lived her life without showing any apparant interest in the workings of the world outside her own backyard. She sought or acquired no knowledge of geo-politics or recent history. She did nothing to place herself in contention for national office or prepare herself for being there but found herself there by chance.
Mom's opinion is that SP will never seek an office that she never considered on her own but will pursue whatever fortune she can secure for herself and her family by using her notoriety. There is nothing wrong with that at all.
Beyond this, the way SP quit as governor is a deal killer for a woman who grew up in the depression, lived as a teen through WW2, raised nine kids through the troubled years of the sixties and seventies (with all the problems and hardships that brings) and never once even thought about quitting anything. There are a lot more voters out there like her than the SP acolytes here realize.
Maybe it’s because I’m from MA, but I think Brown is going to be the flavor of the da—though he’s taught a good lesson to Dems and Pubbies alike.
He actually doesn’t give the Dems heartburn for two reasons: 1) he’s actually quite moderate, and 2) he’s not that strong as a national-level candidate. Democrat angina comes from someone who’s outside their imagination of acceptable—and who’s tough to beat.
Palin/Brown
Ditto
David Petraeus & Anybody
Anyone with Palin at the top.
I would like to see more of Jindal. I know he blew it in the respnse to last years State of the Union address. But, maybe he has improved. There are two swing groups subaurbanites and nordic voters in the mid west. Maybe Thune could appeal to the latter since he is one.
Brown isnt pro-life. I dont see how he could win the primary.
McConnell/Brown
Governor of Virginia and the new Senator from Mass.
game over for the Dems.
Oops, I meant Bob McDonnell, who did a great job with the SOTU response last night.
You could be right. I’m basing on the current circumstances.
I’ve followed Brown a little and he is NO staunch conservatives and if he turns into a typical go-along-get-along type, it’ll be Scott who? by June.
Not a good start that he’s already back-peddled on fighting to get seated immediately.
And he took a meeting with Deval - Sheesh!
McDonnell was very good. And his team that set up the environment did a good job as well.
Jindal? What, because they’ve had a president who wasn’t a natural born citixzen, now we get one too?
Now that’s a ticket I could love!!!
But I dont think McDonnell would leave office before his term is over (2013). Maybe 2016.
I thought his parents weren’t American citizens when he was born?
