As the war for the partys soul is waged, pragmatism will compete with principle, and the old guard of the GOP will be demanded by reformists to ignore their dearly held beliefs in exchange for the prospects of future political victories. But to sacrifice the partys integrity so cheaply would be a tragic mistake.
John Quincy Adams, our sixth president, once famously declared, Always stand on principle, even if you stand alone.
Its time to heed his advice.

Liberal, progressive, reformer. They all mean the same thing.
Understand this. There is no longer a republican party. It is dead and gone. It committed suicide when it decided to stand for nothing larger than power and getting re-elected.
Stop thinking in terms of republicans and democrats. The democrats are about to commit suicide just as the republicans did, and in much the same manner. The entire concept of the republican and democrat parties is no longer valid or worthy of debate. The republican party is gone and the democrat party soon will be too.
The only question that remains is can America survive for long enough to reach the same conclusion and shake off the repubs vs demos mentality and return to a system of limited self-government, or will it morph into a soviet style socialist paradise with “them” at the top and everyone else at the bottom.
Looking at the history of man, I will sadly place my bet on the latter. The whole idea of a democratic republic in America was an experiment. The experiment has run it’s course and we already have an answer. The American people, out of all the potential presidents in the just finished election, chose two leftists, neither of whom represents the ideals of liberty.
I think that concludes the experiment and answers the question, can any people long remain free. The answer is NO, because the work involved in being free and self-sufficient is too troubling for the vast majority. Those of us who would be free are just chips on a millrace now, swept along in the foaming rushing waters of the vast majority who are determined to wear the chains of servitude.
Chapter 11 for the GOP
its hard to tell. Marriage is still alive, and Prop 8 passed in the most Democrat state west of Illinois. People still believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I think we need to go back to Reagan’s foreign policy, peace thru strength, not thru neo-conism.
We lack leadership and drive. Newt was a great leader until he developed feet of clay. Can he be redeemed much as Richard Nixon was?
JC Watts and John Kasich got out of the rat race because they looked around and saw that the rats were winning.
If you look at individual states or the national scene, is there anyone out there who will pick up the banners of lower taxes, lower government spending/smaller government, strong defense, LESS interference with your personal and business lives? I don't see them.
Moses and the nation of Israel wandered the desert for 40 years before God decided that they had been punished enough. Will my grandchildren see the return of principled Republicans to power, and the start of the reverse of Obamanation? Will it be too late then?

Freedom is a constant fight. It’s always good to know who the quitters are.
My entire family considered me a hopelessly untreatable pessimist.....
My predictions on the Housing Market collapse, followed by the foreclosures due to insane loaning practices, followed by accelerating unemployment and business bankruptcy, closures and massive layoff - all leading to a market collapse.....
Well it's all come true in less than 2 years..
The gloom became apparent starting with the Democrats regaining control of congress and the media whoring itself out to the Leftists.
Finally — Certainty arrived with the election of Obama..
That proved the Republic reached a point where the electorate was too damned stupid to survive in a competitive and violent world...
Conservatism 101
1. Is IT a conservative principle to put moratoriums on immigration and foreign worker levels during a recession or depression?
a. What is wrong with a Hire a US Citizen First policy? Taking care of your own people first should be a conservative principle dont you think?
b. How can we justify as a NATION any legal immigration or foreign workers when Black unemployment is nearly double the white rate and Hispanic unemployment levels are 8.9% to 5.4% for whites:
i. http://blackpoliticsontheweb.com/2008/11/08/black-unemployment-nearly-double-white-rate/
ii. http://www.bepress.com/jbvela/vol3/iss1/art11/
c. Shouldnt Black and Hispanic unemployment levels be less than or equal to white unemployment levels before the United States of America allows any new immigrant OR foreign worker IN?
2. United States Citizenship is Nonpartisan!
3. Is IT a conservative principle to demand that States within our Republic perform their US Constitutional duty and validate US Citizenship when people register to vote and vote?
a. Article IV The States:
Section 4 - Republican government. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
b. Republic:
i. A government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and is usually a president; also: a nation or other political unit having such a government.
ii. A government in which supreme power is held by the citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives governing according to law.
How can we as Conservatives come together and stop the advancement of Liberalism and Socialism if we can not agree on these three BASIC points before we CAN move on to the other issues that befalls our beloved Republic.
I got my Senate voting data at http://www.SenateReports.com.
One of these days Brooks will realize that he is a lightweight and affirmative action case, whose position is designed to look foolish and discredit real conservatives. He is the equivalent of the East German Christian Democrat Party, except that he has internalized his role without any threat of actual violence.
As for his actual piece, I wonder if he has any concept what a traditionalist is. Half the time he sounds more like a third-generation communist ranting at counter-revolutionaries with no concept of the ancienne regime.
No it’s not reformer’s vs. traditonalists, it’s the RINOmoderates vs. Traditional Conservatives.
It is NOT between “reformers” and “traditionalists”.
It is between CONSERVATIVES and limp wristed RINOS
While conservatism and honesty are essential for the GOP to succeed, the 2008 national election was lost from the top down.... starting with the shaky, oldster, sickly looking McCain who astonishly was nominated as the FACE of the Republican Party.
For heaven's sake, McCain was proud that HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO EMAIL!!!
That little tidbit goes right to the fact that many voters, including me, a very conservative Republican committeeman, couldn't stand the thought of having a 72-year-old unable-to-speak-with inspiration frump representing America.
I was embarrassed at having to defend his pandering, no-drill, no-borders, campaign finance baloney.
I love McCain and his story... his heroism and integrity as a POW.
I get red-faced mad whenever the Dems slam him.
But the fact remains that the GOP in 2008 (just like with Dole) was seen as the party stuck in the 1950s era of Korea/Vietnam --- and the Democrats were seen as able to lead and understand the 21st century.
Talk show hosts focus entirely too much on conservative vs liberal candidates when the most essential component of winning is having a LIKABLE candidate, younger and virile, enthusiastic and inspiring, and who has the STATURE of a US President.
McCain, and thus the GOP, had none of those.
>>conservatism and honesty are essential for the GOP to succeed, the 2008 national election was lost from the top down>>
I agree. That’s why conservative activists all over the U.S. are now initiating a grassroots movement to reclaim, rehabilitate and revitalize the GOP. The folks intend to take back the party beginning at the local level, then though the state level, and finally the RNC. Here’s a link to a great new site for one such group in Washington State. http://skagitrepublican.typepad.com Check out the page “Republican Ideology” and the article “GOP Reform: From the Grassroots Up.”
The GOP isn’t dead, it just needs CPR from grassroots conservatives.
The GOP must support candidates that will fight for the basic principles I have already stated and reject Globalist principles such as Free Trade, Free Markets because they do not exist my friends.
Globalist Republicans do not believe in the US Consitution because if they did we would not be in this mess.
The longer the GOP Globalist control the Republican Party the swifter the loss of our beloved Republic.
