I've been scanning the news in the last few months about who the Republican party should key in on as far as a viable candidate for the upcoming presidential election. And it's not as far in the future as we might think.

Did it come up smooth or chunky?
Yes, I vomit after every Romney thread, troll.
Then I shall pray for you.
What's this "we" stuff? Who are you?
These guys are just annoyed because it looks like you are a Romney activist that just showed up to give cheap promotions for your candidate.
I on the other hand totally accept that you are a conservative that has great respect for freerepublic.com and all it's varied discussions of conservative politics, in all it's variations.
"Mitt Romney had ordered up the National Guard in Massachusetts to cover Logan Airport. He was the first to do it. This shows me that he's a man with a singular mission: to do what's right. And after reading the article at the Townhall blog, I'm convinced that Mitt's our man."
It may take a little more than that to make us all to (show pleasure in our pants), but at least we trust your sincerity.
``I think it shows a complete lack of understanding of the kind of enemy that we're facing," said Romney, a Republican. ``This is not a small group of wackos in the hills that all we have to do is go find one person and it suddenly goes away."
Well I am not a Romny fan but I will give him big credit for taking out Kerry. Unlike the other 2008 hopefuls (for example Tancredo and Gingrich) Romny seems to remember who the REAL enemies are rathern then continually pandering to the Junk media by bad mouthing their own side all the time.
I checked on Romney today, joined a Romney for Pres site. He is AGAINST AMNESTY! That's the way i read it. The person i vote for HAS to be against illegal amnesty. I like that he tore back into kerry the other day too.
I'm someone who loves my country, who believes in in our greatness, and who wants the best man -- Read: MAN -- in the White House.
Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.
You know, it's tough enough going to head to head with liberals, but (as you can see from the first response to my comments) it's even tougher when vitrole explodes from someone within my own own party. I think we all want what is best for our country, and as far as I can tell--from all my research--, Mr. Romney is, so far, the best choice for candidate. Who else is there? "Incoming!" McCain? Rudy Giuliani who openly cheated on his wife during his term as Mayor of New York? Ditto New Gingrich?
The Republican party is supposed to be the party of moral values. In that light, we need to seek out a leader with those types of morals. He also needs to be tough out of the gate, a man of his own mind, and, as far as I'm concerned, opposed to the invasion of illegal immigrants who are being pushed to the head of the line in the name of amnesty.
Thanks for your response.
This is precisely why I'm looking at Mitt. Heck, I didn't know he was alive until late last year when a very enthusiastic friend of mine brought the Governor to my attention.
I started to look hard, listen harder at Romney, and after these many months arrived at the conclusion that he has the potential to be the strongest Republican candidate. And you're right: he sees the war against terrorists as just that: a war against a brutal regime that is dedicated to wiping out not just Israel, but you and me and the rest of humanity. Do we want a former mayor in the White House? Not I, thank you very much. We need a no-holds-barred guy who isn't fearful of reprisals when he slams the likes of Flip-Flop Kerry with the truth.
Thanks again.
Good for you, LibbyLu! That's one of the issues that has stuck in my craw - illegals being given amnesty and escorted to the front of the line, ahead of people who have been waiting for years for their U.S. citizenship.
I believe Mr. Romney has the "stones" to address the problem and make it right.
Take care, and thanks for your response.
It's funny, my post (7) was meant to be dripping with sarcasm.
I should have done a better job of making that clear.
When I joined FR, I was hoping that sarcasm and bitchiness would be left out of the picture. I was wrong.
"Pleasure in our pants" you say? You call that sarcastic? I call it insulting.
"Thanks for your response. I appreciate it. "
That was your response last week.
It looked to me like you registered only to promote Mitt Romney, your post
"one of the first stories reported after this revelation was that Mitt Romney had ordered up the National Guard in Massachusetts to cover Logan Airport. He was the first to do it. This shows me that he's a man with a singular mission: to do what's right. And after reading the article at the Townhall blog, I'm convinced that Mitt's our man."
sounded phony, your follow up posts sounded phony, it is a week later and you still look like you only registered to promote Romney.
And who will YOU support besides your self-admitted sarcasm?
You forgot George 'Macaca' Allen. I expect many here support him, but I don't think he'll win in 2008 and I'm not an ideological purist. I prefer a winner who agrees with me 50% instead of a loser who agrees with me 80%.
I didn't forget Allen - I ignore him, because he is his own worst enemy. He needs no one but himself to undermine any effort towards the White House. Same with Brownback, Frist and Huckabee.
I don't understand your last sentence. Who is the winner agreeing with you 50%? and the loser agreeing with you 80%?
Don't hold me to specific numbers. I might agree with Romney on 50 percent of the issues, though it may be more since I still don't know that much about him. I haven't heard anything about him I don't like so much I wouldn't vote for him and many things I do like. Allen I might agree with more on the issues (or not), but the main thing is to win the election. We've got justices retiring and I do not want the Democrat nominee choosing their replacements. I like Romney's demeanor. He comes across as more 'presidential', which is very important nowadays.
