We all know Nurse Ratchet, otherwise known as Billy Jean "Hillary" Clinton wants to run for the DEMS in 2008 (assuming we can't knock her out of the Senate Daschle style in 2006.)
We also all know AlGore has been eating cheeseburgers George Forman style while watching documentaries on the 1960 Nixon/Kennedy race and Nixon's later rise from the dead to prepare his comeback in 2008.
The question is, who is being discussed to step up on our side?
Condi Rice - She would be a strong candidate, but she should really hold another elected position first...I would put her up against Feinstein in CA in 2006!
Tom Ridge - He was great as PA Gov, but less than impressive since...besides, he did not deliver PA in 2000.
Rudy - Just mighty doubtful....he is the next Gov of NYC!
McCain - LOL
Colin Powell - He had his opportunities if he wanted to run.
Jeb Bush - Dare we hope for Jeb, who's term is up in 2006, to spend 2 years gearing up to settle all family business and slap back Hillary, thus bringing balance back to the force???

Bill Frist is a viable candidate and he would be my personal preference.
Condi Rice
She will be the stake through Hillary's heart. I just hope she is not a liberal in domestic policy. Does any one know her leanings?

It's disheartening to see these lists of possible GOP candidates consist primarily (and sometimes exclusively) of RINOs, but these days that's to be expected.
Jeb has stated that he will not run in 2008.
Condi seems to have no desire to give up her privacy for the Presidency.
Guiliani, Powell are pro-abortion as is Mitt Romney.
Who do we have out in the governorships right now?
You know, Ronald Reagans and George W. Bushes don't come along every year. We may have to pray hard for a good candidate to rise.
It's a short list-- Rudy, Condi, Jeb, & Ah-nold (unlikely given that it would take a constitutional amendment to make it legal for him to serve as Prez or VP)....
Well, I don't know, but it's not too early to be thinking about it.

I'm hopping that someplace outthere there is a true conservative who understands Reagan style politics.
If my memory is correct, Condi has never ran or been elected for a public office. This would be a huge hurdle for her to win the nomination.
The GOP is not ready to nominate a pro choice candidate (Rudy/Arnold)
I'm looking at Bill Frist, J.C. Watts, or George Pataki.
Arnold - no, McCain - getting too old, Jeb - not yet.
We, in the Wet Panty Party, demand Mitt Romney.

No offense to the mormons, but Romney is LDS. I dont know how well you will be able to the the Catholic or other Christian voters to go for him.
JC Watts? No. Pataki? Not electable. McCain might be the most electable one out there on "our" side of the aisle (and I've no illusions that he is on our side).

Fred Thompson was on the verge of running before Bush started gaining buzz. He very well still might.
I clearly stated everything that has been posted about Condi, Rudy, Ridge, Powell and McCain.
As for Jeb, I know it is a long shot, and I knw he said no for 2008...but I had to throw him out there.
I love Mitt, but he could never win.
I think that if things keep improving each year until 2008, the REPS will just need a B candidate to win. Beyond that I think that a conservetive Latino will need to rise in the party to maintain the Office of the pres.
Kennedy trashed him for that when he ran for the Senate. The second time no one paid any attention to it. He's an awfully good candidate from an awfully Catholic state.
Condi - Hmmm. Probably Secretary of state
Ridge - Doing good where he's at I would think. Who's FBI director?
Rudi - gotta be the front-runner in my book although I'm leary after seeing the OUTRIGHT REJECTION of a New Englander. However, Rudi doesn't come off as an elitist and is hugely popular. He's a fence bridger too, used to operating in hostile political environs (read dealing with conservatives and liberals I think he's moderate), and he can draw Democrat votes. I think he could handle Hillary with ease.
McCain - from a conservative viewpoint, yes LOL, but has the same Democrat vote drawing ability as Rudi. Question is can he draw Republican votes? LOL
Powell - just ain't interested. I think he wants to play golf or something.

Tommy Franks? - Untested and inexperienced in this field, Secretary of Defence?
Pataki, current gov of NY - Gotta wonder. He was showcased along with Guliani at the convention. Another moderate, libs won't be afraid. NY governors have a great track record gaining the White House. Will he be viewed as another elitist New Englander?
Arnold - not gonna happen...:) Not eligible and they will not open that can of worms.
Hastert, too many problems, same with DeLay.
Frist - can carry the South BIGTIME, down home appeal as Bush, veryconservative, carry christian vote in big way. Only reservation is backlash effect from 8 years of conservative values. The country seems to wobble back and forth and that tells us 2008 we should run a moderate. Or will the conservative movement realize it's newfound power. I can't see the same vote out in force again in 2008. Another downside, senators have a horrible track record on gaining the White House as we just witnessed. Same knock on McCain.
Hmmm, who's under the radar here...should be a governor or a mayor....
Big Jim Thompson - former governor of Illinois, can handle his own against any Democrat (had to fight that Daley machine in Chicago) and did well on when he sat on the 9-11 commission! Seems to be getting groomed for another role. Never know.
Rick Perrry, gov of Texas - Texas is on a role lately eh? More electoral votes than NY. Don't know anything about him...hard to tell...
Maryland duo Governor Ehrlich and Lieutenant Governor Steele? Both sharp at the convention.
