Check NARTH - I can't remember exactly what the initals are, but it's therapists (I think psychiatrists) who practice reparative therapy to help homosexuals overcome their problem. It works for many, as long as they really want to become normal. Scripter has a list of organizations that help homosexuals who want to change.

Well, the original argument was "I don't understand why women could be lesbians and go after women when we have men". If there is any validity to that reasoning, it begs the question of why any men, when confronted with the men of the world, would want to go after women.

The person that wrote this is a lesbian. If that's the case, maybe she knows why she's a lesbian and feels it is too late for her. Maybe that's why she is touting psychological help for most of these kids.

Maybe she also understands the difference between a child and an adult.

Why not call it a school for troubled kids, and not label these kids gay?

Because the nature of these kids' troubles is such that the only way to get them to attend school at all is to call it a gay school.

The NYC public school system runs other alternative schools tailored to various types of needs -- some for kids who are troubled in other ways (e.g. violent, including some who are prone to beating up gay kids), some for kids who are severely learning disabled, etc.
