Guess I need to go out and buy some Charlie Chan movies; I'll file them along with my Amos 'n' Andy tapes.

They are stupid, and charming, and not very mysterious. But they are fun to watch. This is so thin skinned and stupid! I wonder if peta will have The Thin Man Mysteries" banished because Asta the wirehaired terrior is owned by the married sleuths. Or some such insane nonsense.

Asian activists strike me as a joke. Asians do very well and if segregated it appears it is so because of cultural wanting to be together rather than being dispersed. They certainly have the option to integrate. I believe their numbers in universities are disproportionately high compared to the population in general. Making their wild hoorays! for the SCOTUS decision for affirmative action seem unnecessarily silly and extremey myopic. The liberal war on class has worked very well.

Apparently they've gotten a little too much feedback on this:
"Contact Us" doesn't seem to work any more!

It's ironic that the black actors who played in Amos and Andy have been denied income because of the boycott of the show.

Even more ironic is that the descendants of some of the show's actors have set up a web site to proudly commemorate their work!

Charlie Chan, on the other hand, was played by several actors.

Warner Oland was the first notable Charlie Chan. He was born in Sweden in 1880 and by the time he assumed the role of Charlie Chan, he had many years of experience as an actor. He played the character Chan from 1931-1938.

In 1942 Sidney Toler acquired the rights to the character. After financing failed, Monogram then decided to produce the series with Toler as Chan.

Roland Winters played the character of Charlie Chan from 1947-1949. Winters lacked the charm that Oland and Toler gave to the part. He played Chan with very little make-up, squinting to give his face an Oriental cast.

Apparently, an Oriental was never cast in the role of Charlie Chan. Do you suppose it would have made a difference?

Also, we should ban the Three Stooges as well. The Stooges don't resemble any of my grandparents or any other of my ancesters. I am extremely offended and concerned that younger viewers may cast aspersions upon me and my fellow white Americans after watching them. Okay, I act a little bit like Curly sometimes but any resemblance is purely coincidental. Ban the Stooges! Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk.

This reminds me. Today is Chinese food for lunch day!

Rooking forward to my beef and brocorri with flied lice. Must eat with chopstick though.

(May have mixed up the accents with the Japanese but it's still fun to do. I work in an organization that celebrates Asian history month, black history month, women's history month, one-legged-blind-lesbian history month, etc (but never white european male history month!?) and I always use these celebrations to trot out my various ethnic jokes. The management hates it but what can I do, I have to follow the agenda right?)

Someone should tell Fox News about this. It's still running CC ads.

Should I be deeply offended I have heard of no such ban on The Three Stooges? They do, after all, depict three white stupid guys.

This makes me sad and angry. I grew up watching Charlie Chan on Channel 18 in Milwaukee as a kid. I always saw him has a good role model.

Smart, a good dad, a police man.

Intolerent liberals offend me, but I don't demand that Will and Grace be taken off the air. I just work nights to cut down on my chances of accidently watching it.

What's next? Ban Verdi because he promots Italian steriotypes? (I'm listening to MacBeth highlights as I write, my new current favorite, so I thought I would show off how cultured I am. Just like cottage cheese! Now we'll have to offend cottage cheese because it might ban people from Wisconsin).
