[history]
There's no way to make this sweet, so we'll keep it short.
On Nov. 5, Californians will choose either the Democratic incumbent or the Republican challenger to be governor for the next four years.
You don't like the choices. We don't like the choices. If only there were an even vaguely plausible third-party candidate -- but there isn't. So, like it or not, one of these men will be governor until 2007.

They wimped ... Yup fair-minded and impartial... and corrupted by their own power to persuade.
So Long, Old Friend. See you in 2004. Who will you endorse then? Hussein?

Simon and his supporters great fault has been the refusal to publically reveal his secret vice. If they would only do so and then issue an apology he would win hands down. People love vice addicts as we are a nation of vice addicts.
To: NormsRevenge
But for every good thing he has done, he has demeaned the office of governor many times over through his incessant fund-raising from those who do business with the state, those who work for it and those who are regulated by it Lets face it, the guy is as corrupt as a Clinton Secretary of the Interior.
e He generally ignores the questions of character and conduct that he has brought down on himself. When he does take notice, he blithely asserts that he has not put state government up for sale.
Of course state government is not for sale, it is for lease. You must renew your lease every four years.

The Republican, Bill Simon, is simply out of the question. He won the primary only because the Democratic governor helped beat the best Republican candidate in the field. Like Al Gore's legacy, the SacBee needs to get over it. Riordan was no Republican.

I see.
These editorial writers would rather have an incompetent crook Democrat than a competent, but somewhat politically inexperienced, Republican businessmann.
To: Nachum
Only the corrupt and tainted LA Times. They said Davis was 8 points ahead - but it turns out when the RNC ran the numbers - low and behold, Davis was only 2 POINTS ahead.
Sooooo, we'll see who's shucking and jivein' on election day!!!

If Jesus Christ came back, registered as a Republican and ran for office, the Bee would not support him.
To: CyberAnt
I don't know. That is why I asked. After all Simon is an office seeker in America 2002 A.D. This fact alone raises a presumption of vice addiction against the would be office holder.

Well ... you are assuming a great deal here aren't you?? I mean just because a man is running for office - there is no guarantee he's got vice to hide!
You're way toooooo cynical for me.

Good editorial. It reflects my sentiments, except for the bit about paid leave, which sucks (another one of those programs where the worker bees subsidize the malingerers). I voted my absentee ballot today. I voted for one Democrat.

Well the Bee and Jerkury News have shown the terrible effects of decades of being infected by chronic STD's that infect the central nervous systems of the maggots who own and control these fish wraps. Throw in decades of drug abuse from the 1960/70's you have some real mentally ill maggots in charge of these two newspapers. That can be the only reason why they are still for Davis.
They are in bed with Herr Davis and have been since he was Moon Beam Brown's controller during Moon Beam's terms as the fairy governor.
They are nothing but farm league team fishwraps trying to be like their role models, the NY Slimes and Washington Compost!

While I admit to being a Cynic-as far as my view of Office Seekers goes-at least it appears to have resonated, however briefly, with you. Admit it! It looks real bad for the res publica. Lord! What a mess. The publicly religious and the office seeker two of the most important functions in our society totally bankrupt!
To: AEMILIUS PAULUS
You're entitled to your opinion!
I, for one, totally disagree with you.

You voted for Davis?!? Amazing. I mean, even a Libertarian protest vote isn't as bad...the way you did it, Simon is net -2 instead of -1. Sheesh. Thanks for helping us out.
