Then click on TOBACCO. Scroll down and see just how much money your state is getting in BLOOD MONEY to further ban, control, restrict and raise taxes on people who choose to smoke a legal product.
Why is YOUR hospitals going smoke free? For The MONEY!
Why is YOUR Doctor after you to Quit Smoking? For the MONEY!
Think about it: the states are in dire financial need for health care. In steps old Easy Money Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. If the state signs up to chop off the heads of their smokers, the state will be a recipient to big grant money. For renovation, brand new MRI machines, you name it, the health facility will get it. All because they are doing away with the smokers and the smoking. Sound fair to you?
The higher the bans, control, restrictions imposed on a smoker in each state, the more grant BLOOD money the state will receive from the RWJ Foundation and the American Medical Association. Think about it.

If they want to ban the smoker, why don't they just ban tobacco and be done with it?Actually, they dont even need to do that. If they want to crush out butts in this country, all they need to do is ban the Chemical Additive that keeps tobacco burning when it is not being actively smoked. Put it down for a second, and it goes right out. that Chemical is a public safety concern and is directly responsible for the deaths of many smokers that fall asleep with a cigarette. So I say, lets keep tobacco. Natural and safe. My Prediction, sales drop off by 50% in 5 years.

The state is recieving NO MONEY.
The Money is going to Private Organizations in various states. I don't care WHERE it's going, it's coming into Maine and 43 OTHER states to take away our rights as smokers!
That money is being used to trample my rights and the rights of the other 55 million in America who choose to smoke a legal product.

The state is not receiving money directly, just the non-profit it started and that it funds to promote a single health payer program for the state and various other socialist programs. It's an arm of the DHS to do its dirty work that it can't do itself legally. So technically you are correct.

Sales drop off where? To the state coffers? It's already fallen well below what they had anticipated.
Internet sales are booming! The Reservations can't keep cigarettes in stock. People are also rolling their own like crazy! If sales drop, it's into the state coffers because the product has been taxed way out of site. And it's the American Way to shop cheap!

Sorry folks, but the AMA, and the ACS, are not arms of DHS.
Look, your agitation, while understandable is misplaced. Private money, private Orgs, complaining about that does no good. It only distracts from the real battles to be fought, which are directly, and appropriately at the State Government. If you can find State Government expenditures being illegaly spent, that is a problem.....

Oh, by the way, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is not a respected non profit, it is under the control of left wing extremists who fund programs that further their social causes. Single payer health, anti evil tobacco companies. The AMA has been under the control of the same philosophical wackos for a while now. Read their journal, its gone down the tubes promoting junk science to justify their cause.

Perjhaps, but that is still not the same as being a state owned subsidiary. One could point to the lack of Ethics involved, but that is another matter entirely.

It's going to take years for the Fed HHS to clean up all the grants they have awarded to fund all these non-profits.
Just hope W gets re-elected and we take back the senate.

I dont see anywhere the advocacy of a Single payer system.
For starters that hasnt worked anywhere it has been tried, and RWJ is a pretty good business man, good eough to understand the fact, that single payer, means controlled payouts, equals less human resources in the field due to the renmoved capital incentive.
And here is how the money was spent last year
2001 Funds Distribution
17% |
$93.17 million for programs that assure that all Americans have access to basic health care at reasonable cost. |
17% |
$98.02 million for programs that improve care and support for people with chronic health conditions. |
20% |
$112.42 million for programs that promote healthy communities and lifestyles. |
28% |
$156.13 million for programs that reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs. |
10% |
$54.12 million for other health and health care programs, including our workforce training programs and grants that are consistent with our Program Management Teams. |
8% |
$47.37 million for general philanthropy purposes, primarily projects addressing the Foundation's mission in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where the Foundation originated. |
That looks pretty respectable to me.

Ummmmm, I hate to disillusion you, but RWJ IS a republican, though of the skirt wearing NE variety, and he is a QUITE well respected philanthropist, donating large chunks of his time, and considerable resources to hospitals and what not....This may be a disagreable position, but on the whole, he does a lot of good things that would otherwise go undone.

28% $156.13 million for programs that reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs. That's all well and good, but it's just a Talking Head. Speaking out of both sides of their mouths. Promote is not the same thing as RESTRICT and BAN.
The way they are using the word Promote is to CONTROL. I am against any means of control for American people. We are grown-ups. We can educate ourselves and make our own choices in how we wish to live our lives. It's legal.
Tobacco is legal and we choose to smoke a legal commodity.

Have you seen the latest "stand" infomercials your tax dollars are paying for? Kinda underhanded to make us pay for the anti smokers propaganda campaign.

17% $93.17 million for programs that assure that all Americans have access to basic health care at reasonable cost. This is to promote single payer financing.
17% $98.02 million for programs that improve care and support for people with chronic health conditions. This is to promote medicare/medicaid coverage of home visits
20% $112.42 million for programs that promote healthy communities and lifestyles. This is health nazi's
28% $156.13 million for programs that reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs. Again mostly health nazi's
10% $54.12 million for other health and health care programs, including our workforce training programs and grants that are consistent with our Program Management Teams. This is to teach how to get grants for liberal causes.
8% $47.37 million for general philanthropy purposes, primarily projects addressing the Foundation's mission in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where the Foundation originated. Again more grants to promote the left wing agenda (night time basketball?)

He's dead as a doornail and his foundation has been taken over by the left wing. Their goals are:
to assure that all Americans have access to basic health care at reasonable cost;
to improve care and support for people with chronic health conditions;
to promote healthy communities and lifestyles; and
to reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs.
Interpretation: Health Nazi's
