LOS ANGELES - Bill Simon, the Republican candidate for governor, is facing new demands to release sensitive financial information -- this time because of an investor fraud suit his firm lost this week.
Attorneys for Edward Hindelang, the former pay phone company executive who won a $78 million judgment against William E. Simon & Sons, filed a motion Wednesday claiming the investment firm has failed to disclose adequate financial information.

This Hindelang is turning into such a freakin' pest, I'm now starting to think he's on Davis' payroll. If so, we can pray that Davis' greed for power will cause him to overplay his hand.

So how come the writers of the article failed to mention that Paul Edward Hindelang was a major drug trafficer out of Miami in the 70-80's, and surrendered $50 million in offshore assets to the US Customs in 1999? I think all this is to recover his ill-gotten fortune and to embarrass Simon for getting controlling interest of his pay phone empire. What a creep!!

Hindelang is going to be the "Hindenburg" of one of the candidates . The question IS, Which One? This could be real interesting, indeed.

Yeah, kind of catches your eye, doesn't it? They make the successful businessman out to be a crook, and the crook (drug runner) out to be a successful businessman.

Have you seen any data on the impact of this on his campaign? Like any of the quick polling the media is famous for.

Not a peep at this point..
If Simon drops 10 points, OK,, He has to work harder.
If he loses nothing, He has to work harder.
If he is still ahead which wouldn;t really surprise me, He has to work harder.

"Yeah, kind of catches your eye, doesn't it? They make the successful businessman out to be a crook, and the crook (drug runner) out to be a successful businessman."The pressholes are shameless. What an unfortunate development, and one that will have some legs, if only because of the delay of post-trial motions and the like. Do tell if some polls pop up on the radar. And yes Norm, "work harder" is going to have to be the rule, regardless of the impact of this story....

My prediction is that this news will give a bump to Davis (more accurately, a slump to Simon). But, if the next polls show little change, with the race a dead-heat or Simon ahead by one or two points, that would be a terrific sign that even a jury verdict of "fraud" will be overlooked by Californians in their desire to get the Gray out.

If Simon can emerge from this kind of stuff, he will win.

I found it interesting and a little sad that Debra Sanders, the S. F. Chronicle's token conservative columnist, had a column today calling for Simon to drop his campaign for Governor and throw his support to Bill Jones, the Republican Secretary of State, who Simon defeated in the primary. Sanders reasoning is that Simon is such an inept campaigner that he should bow out and let a real conservative and politian (Jones) run as a write in candidate. It is obvious Jones would have been a better candidate, but he did not have the resoures to challenge both Simon and Riordon. I tell you folks,if the republicans cannot beat Davis and Torrecelli they are in deep trouble.
