The campaign to stampede the federal government into drastic action to counter "global warming" has never let honesty cramp its style. The most recent ploy has been the release of a study from the Environmental Protection Agency which concluded that human actions were responsible for rising temperatures and that government restrictions on those actions were necessary to prevent various disastrous scenarios from unfolding.

P.C. problem of the day: 1. Assuming Moo-Gabby kills off 80% of his citizens % 2. Assuming that 207 million Paks. Arabs, and India citizens are killed off before this "war" is done: How much will CO² emissions drop world-wide? Come on now, figure it out. Accuracy is imprortant. 3 points extra for those who do the calculations with a slide-rule!

I have wondered a lot about the enviornmental radicals.

Why?

It seems to me that the they need to prove that man is all powerful. I don't think they want to live like cave men. You don't see the global warming advocates living in the boondocks. What they need to desperately do is prove that man is all powerful. If man can freeze or boil the planet, then man is his own god ... The must disprove the beliefs the old guys from Virginia used to refer too as "Natures God."

If one admits that man is without power to change the climate of the earth, then man is not the controlling power of the universe. If it is not man in control, then some other force controls the planet. Another force controling the planet is not a concept they wish to consider. So every scrap of fudged data that shows how powerful man is, must be believed.

Man's power over nature is this generation's Golden Calf. They must polish it and worship it or admit their own insignificance. If there is no global warming they will have to admit their sacred calf is just a hunk of yellow metal and that "Natures God just might be in charge." Couldn't have that...now.. could we.

Superb analogy, C.T. Kudos.

Actually, I know of no one arguing that man is the controlling power of the universe.

I believe the media is a bit more subtle than this. They do report every record and near record high then can find while generally ignoring low temps, however, they don't always make the explicit link to global worming. They know there are more than enough Chicken Littles out there to do that job for them. Allows them their illusion of independent nonpartianship.

Come on now, figure it out.

Easily done. All I have to do is run the computer model with the new data and see the results. If the model doesn't predict continued warming, the model must need adjustment. So, I modify the model a bit and run it again. Still no warming? No problem. Just tweak it some more. This process can continue until the model gives me the result I want. So, your scenario actually will increase the rate of warming.

Is what "YOU DON'T KNOW" supposed to impress me?

Most people try to convince with what they know. Not with what they don't know.

Actually the statement "I know of no -----" is predicated on creating an impression of superiority. The idea is the person that says it is knowledgable that they know everything. Thus anything they don't know does not exist or is a lie. It is a technique used to assume superiority without the downside of having to back it up. If they get proved wrong, they can assert that they said they did not know. They did not make an assertion. It is a way for those unsure of what they say to impress the unthinking.

Actually the global warming fools only claim that man has the power to destroy the earth and all that lives on it. They claim a power that once was believed to be possessed only by God. Enviormentalists do not claim that man is able to destory the universe. They just claim that man has the power of GOD and can destroy the earth.

But when they learn to look at the stars and planets as pool balls, and mans force as a cue stick, then some enviornmentalist will claim that man's technology can clear the table with one terrible shot.

One of the problems of the enviornmental religion is that it has a very large eight ball and its members tend to hide behind it.

Ok, how's this. I know a smug, self-derving reply when I see one. I know when someone is backpedaling when I see it. I know that when someone inflates their argument with hyperbole in place of fact, they are are more likely to inflame than illuminate.

In your own words, "Enviormentalists do not claim that man is able to destory the universe." This presumes an assertion that you are aware of all claims of environmentalists? Do you make such an assertion? Or do you really mean you know of no such claim made by environmentatists with which you are familiar.
