President Bush is the leading obstacle to controlling illegal immigration in this country and his "open door" border policy is a threat to national security, the Republican chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus said yesterday.

Rep. Tom Tancredo told editors and reporters in a luncheon meeting at The Washington Times that Mr. Bush is out of step with the majority of Americans who want immigration reform and that his "altruistic views" on the subject were an open invitation to new terrorist attacks.

"Mr. Tancredo said that during a recent meeting with top Mexican officials, he was told that Mexico does not view the Southwest United States and northern Mexico as two countries, but as "one region."...He said that kind of thinking was not unique to Mexico and had led to weak border control by the INS and other government agencies."

This is scary stuff.

It is especially scary when our president, Jorge Bush, knows that Mexico has such sentiments about the sovereignty of America's Southwest and choses to pursue his reckless open border policies anyway. Tancredo is right--Bush is THE PROBLEM.

This bears repeating. If Bush is conciously promoting a policy that is a threat to National Security than logically Bush himself is a threat to the Nation's security.

That means, by his own logic, that Bush is AGAINST us, and therefore a terrorist! I predict Bush will plan an invasion of the US to overthrow the pres.

Rep. Tom Tancredo is 100% right!

Sorry. Let's look at the FIRST sentence...

President Bush is the leading obstacle to controlling illegal immigration in this country...

False.
I suppose truth doesn't froth up the masses, eh Tom?

Buchcredo is a grandstanding fool.
Didn't he take credit for ending the "amnesty" problem a month ago?

False.

If he's not the leading obstacle then who is?

If he's not the leading obstacle then who is?Who? I guess the former leader of PRI (Zadilla?).
The real problem is a "what", economics and former Mexican socialism, not a "who".
The problem pre-dates Bush by a long shot.

RCW!!!!! Great post. Take the 6 billion from Israel and the Arab states. We could then afford the wall (or some kind of control over the border) and terrorists wouldn't have as much to hate us for because we wouldn't be funding their sworn enemy any longer!! Great!

Emphasis mine ...
""The breakup of the current INS would ensure that its law-enforcement duties are not pushed aside by the demands of special-interest groups and open-borders ideologues," he said. "Border defense needs to be closely coordinated, and overseen by responsible officials with both the resources and the commitment to do their jobs."

A clean slate might result in the possibility of being clear on the job description and getting the job done.

Open borders and an overly plush welfare state can't co-exist without bankrupting us. Can you say "license to steal"?

Take the $70 billion dollars that social services for illegal aliens cost us each year and you'd have $64 billion left over for military patrols.

Freedom and democracy are under attack by the Euroninnies and the Islamic fundamentalists. Since nationalism is the home of freedom and democracy, nationalism is under attack as well. A nation by definition cannot be a nation unless it has distinct and recognized borders. By not securing our borders we suffer much. Not only can terrorists exploit our laxity, we lose our precious national sovereignity.

A big patriotic bump to Rep. Tom Tancredo and all of you closed border Freepers!

I hope that Tancredo is reading this thread and will initiate legislation that urges Congress to implement all of your suggestions.

Everything, but Fitz's idea of legalizing drugs. I say we put all of the recreational narcotics on the south side of the border and hope that the pro-dopers follow the illegal aliens out the door. ;^)
