Open America's borders now!!!!
Me | Now | Me

Posted on 04/06/2002 10:29:59 PM PST by paul544

I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

Is that the same election many here on FR regret voting in? The same "I'll never vote for Bush again" crowd? Only here can you actually find people dumb enough who would rather let Hillary Clinton be President than vote for Bush. And these are conservatives?

No, I haven't seen either one of them, but I'll take a look. The difference between the Black Panthers and the Aryans, and the Aztlan extremists is that the Aztlan group intends to "relieve" the USA of part of its nation through interior infiltration.

You will not find me condoning that at all. But I think fear of that, is a ready-made and illogical excuse for not allowing Mexicans to come here.

The point is, we had a choice between Bush and Gore. I'm not going to speak for the "I'll never vote for Bush again" people. I am disappointed in Bush's recent actions, but I'm not going to spin off the planet just yet.

Whether or not I vote for Bush or not in 2002 is immaterial. In 2000, we had a clear choice: fight for the Constitution and against the attempted theft of the election. And that's what we did. We succeeded.

THAT's what I'm talking about ... please don't divert the point.

You asked if anyone here in FR had fought for what we believed in, and got involved. That's my point.

Before that, there was the weekly Freeping of the Xlinton White House. This is not an armchair crowd.

"Fine, but where is the outright bias towards Canadians that there is towards Mexicans?"

The problem is ... the numbers of mexicans that have come here and overtaxed our systems, i.e. schools, welfare, charity organizations, hospitals, emergency rooms used as doctors for all their ailments.

Go to your emergency room a few times and look around. There is upwards of 80% of the people seeking treatment ---who are mexican

This occurrence is located disproportionally in a few states ... California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia, Florida,Oregon, etc. Over taxing systems faster than it has been possible to keep up with expanding them . Budgets are set ahead for these programs.

In the town where I live over 50% of the children in elementary classes are mexican. Mostly their parents are at an income level that they do not pay school tax or city tax or county tax. This is a destructive process to the systems they overburden and it is increasing.

This is a diservice to all the children as it holds back and lowers the standards for the students that do speak english and are capable of doing their grade level of education now. And on and on ... A very real problem.

Canadians do not come in these numbers, have higher level of education and speak english, to name a couple of comparisons. Often they (canadians)(as does the rest of the world) come to take advantage of the better medical care in the U. S. They pay for these services and are free to avail themselves of the higher quality of medical treatments when needed.

America's poor has more difficulty getting welfare and medical services than immigrants do. Sign of the times... Who knows?

The resulting problems are real. And so it goes ...

I tend to agreee with your original post. Afterall, we already let every illegal in to America and then give benefits that citizens are denied. Your point is well taken, in fact, as it will remove some useless government overhead.

Whether you vote for Bush in 2002 is very material. Since you cannot state it as a fact, you are part of the problem.

"Besides when you're talking about Mexico ---it's in the Americas."

In my travels I've heard this complaint a lot. First, it is simply a nuance of the English language, not racism or nationalism. There is no way in English to express U.S. nationality as an adjective. Think 'United Statesian' [incorrect]. It is just an unfortunate fluke of the language. The only way to distinguish what someone is talking about is by context, something the English language makes heavy use of and that consequently confuses a lot of people who don't really understand the grammar very well.
