I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

No. Do you have a hang up regarding dark hispanics? She specifically said she didn't, and made no mention of it, but was recognizing that part of your dig on Canadians included the fact that they were "white." This suggests that you somehow have a problem with White people. Again, subtle comments flying right over your head and replies from you demonstrating that you don't get it.

But some came via Canada, just like the millenium bomber.

In post #147 you said, "No. Do you have a hang up regarding dark hispanics?"
Paul, first you mentioned "white Europeans" and now you are mentioning "dark hispanics." Knock it off. Focus on people --- not their skin colors. We are all God's children and he made us in a variety of colors --- and that's wonderful.

Right, and I have never once read any here on FR say, "Keep the Russians out". It only seems to apply to Mexicans. It's been said a million times here on FR, but I'll say it again. Anybody who comes to the United States legally is more than welcome, no matter what country they are from. Unfortunately, many Mexican nationals are not obeying the immigration laws and instead are crawling under the fence in the middle of the night. That's why we keep complaining about the Mexicans!

Rather than come to out percieved garden of paradise, they should work to turn their own country into a garden for themselves and future generations - rather than never improving their country's future.

Just your suggestion that most Mexicans live in mud huts is so outrageous. You know it is not true.

Mexico is more Americanized than you think. Not in the right way though ----sure they eat hamburgers and even enjoy Taco Bell and they dance to Madonna and Britney Spears music ---but what they need is our banking system, our type of Constitution. They need to study the Founding Fathers of the US and the type of government formed here (so do Americans for that matter). They need to reform their land laws and stop bowing down to the elites over there. They need to replace their oligarchy with something better.

In a perfect world, yes, but that restriction was not imposed on any other immigrant group.

Believe me. Mexico is more Americanized than you think. It is tough to see from here, but if you vacation there, you will see that many things are the same. In this one statement, you have generated several more contradictions. If this is the case with Mexico, why do we need to open the borders to provide opportunity? Sounds like the opportunity already exists. Of course, you know that is not the case. And you must know that it is the poor and disadvantaged that represents a much greater part of Mexico than your sheltered vacation spot that would be coming here to sap our strength.

But some came via Canada, just like the millenium bomberYes ---more came in through Canada which is why we need to enforce both borders. We can't leave our security up to the Canadians or Mexicans. That's why we have borders.

Even if Mexico was a utopia, we should not deny people the right to come here if they want.

Yes they can change ---and they should hold his feet to the fire ---and even more the Congress's feet to the fire and demand certain changes. If they do that, Mexico can be a middle class country and the people can be proud and won't have to leave. They also need to do something about the drug trade because the cartels are destroying certain areas of Mexico.
