Now That Bush Has Sold Us Out... What are we going to do about it? (vanity)

Posted on 03/13/2002 2:47:41 PM PST by Michael2001

Well I'm mad and I'm angry, and maybe that's why I can't think of an appropriate response. While all of us were prasing him for how he was dealing with the war on terror, Bush passes this Amnesty Bill, something that not even the sneaky Bill Clinton would do. This is one of the worse Bills to pass through Congress, it will hurt us in many ways, and ten years from now we will still be feeling it's effects.

Bush has, without a doubt in my mind, sold us out for the Hispanic vote. He sold us out because he can take our vote for granted (who will we vote for Al Gore?). Is he wrong? What do we do when the Republicans stop looking out for our interests? Is it time for a new party, or do we work within the party and try to root out the Republicans In Name Only (of which there are many)?

"What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul?" In follows even in politics..

LOL! No doubt many ideologues around here truly think of their ideology as a religion. More than likely that will be the unkind judgment of history, too.

Yes, and Reagan himself admitted that his Amnesty in 1986 was a mistake.

No he did not. You don't even know the reason for Reagan's amnesty nor the scope. If you want an example of a true blanket amnesty that was the gold standard. 3 million overnight, NO questions asked. Now for a cupie doll, why did Reagan push for that action?

People should be reminded that Bush was going ALL OUT for amnesty of illegals right before the 9/11 attacks. Not surprisingly, his numbers had dipped to their lowest point as he was losing support of conservatives. If he thinks Republicans will net votes from any group with this type of blatant pandering then it's a miracle he was ever elected...poll after poll shows it's a dud

I do not support amnesty for anyone BUT, 99.9% of this bill has absolutely NOTHING to do with the part that extends the So yes I will support a bill that I agree with 99% an day.

What you don't understand is that all of the NON-AMNESTY components of HR 1885 were already passed by the house in previous sessions. What the house leadership did under the direction of Bush was to bring up the same security measures that were previously passed and insert Amnesty (245I) into the bill for political cover. The bill in effect was a total sham to get Amnesty under the guise of already passed security legislation.

I am not accustomed to being called a liar on FR. Normally, folks just let me lie here in my drunken stupor or my drug crazed euphoria and don't respond to me because I am a Libertarian Party member.

But being called a 'liar', brings out a formidible characteristic. You are can't answer any questions! You are nothing more than the giant AM radio staff that you love buzzing around in that little skull you wear upon your shoulders.

You are mezzmerized by BS with no basis.

Some folks(like you) are so freakin' hypersensitive and so afraid that everything that doesn't go exactly your way is a "sellout".

GET REAL.

And take the long view.

This bill will flush out those who want to be legitimate residents, separate them from those who don't and make rounding up the those who don't simpler. Then Bush gets to look good for the Spanish speakering citizens in our population, (those to whom that matters)(SIDEBAR: I refuse to call speakers of Spanish "Hispanics", because plainly that nationality consists only of those from the island of Hispanola, e.g. Dominican Republic and Haiti and we aren't talking about those folks in this bill.)He next gets to crack down on those who don't take the amnesty and he will have the opportunity to tighten the border.

Give our President some credit for smarts. He has shown he knows how to run rings around the Demonrats. Give him the benefit of the doubt.

No he did not.

Yes, he did. Look it up.

You don't even know the reason for Reagan's amnesty nor the scope.

How do you know? The democrats totally gutted most of Reagan's original controls in the Amnesty proposal and made a mockery of it. What was supposed to be a very limited Amnesty turned out to be Amnesty for millions. Why do you think, given our government's horrendous track record of managing anything to do with immigration, that Bush's Amnesty will be any better?

If I were, Buckeroo, I would have agreed with you by now.

Hmmmm...let me see. Who knows more about this issue, Michael Medved, or "Buckeroo"? Michael Medved, or "Buckeroo"?

Where is that eye-rolling emoticon when I need it?

BS. Reagan got exactly what he wanted based on his reasons for wanting it. You have NO idea what you are talking about. If you don't know the reasons he did it you have no business talking about it.

You need to read something other than the daily Bush talking points and do some serious research. Everything I said was mark on. The Bush team went into spin overdrive with this Amnesty thing. Which is quite apparent in your remarks.

Why in the world are you attempting to equate me with Medved, an obvious liberal zionist that discusses movies for his children based upon Hollywood productions?

I don't go to movies. I am too busy working.

In the last election, many people at my Church refused to vote, saying that Bush would not look out for us. Not voting at all, doesn't help us much either.

Your statement here signifies nothing. There are sects which believe sitting on a jury and going to vote are all sinful things, period.

Yeah, sure. The Bush administration has no clue as to how many illegal aliens are in this country much less know who they are and this magic Amnesty bill which encourages more illegal immigration will have the opposite effect of flushing out the illegals. LOL. Where do you folks come up with this stuff?
