Anyone want to bet how many heads will roll over this?
I'm guessing ZERO.

Boy all those hours wasted on chucking a little cuban kid back to a dictatorship were REALLY well spent in retrospect.
THANKS DORIS MESINER!!
Would someone be so kind as to find that interview with that bubblehead where she says that finding illegal aliens in the US isn't a priority? Its quite enlightening.

If they had waited--in a few days, they could have been here as illegals...and got amnesty--as the House will vote on the amnesty bill this evening at 6:30 p.m. EST.

After something as ridiculous as this happened, I suggest the government do what they do at the airports when they find a security breach. Kick out all of the immigrants and don't allow them to come back in until this major hole in security (the INS) is fixed.

This isn't suprising as it takes a million dollars to deport an illegal. At least that's what the Clintonroids said about Elian.

Nothing to see here.
Move on.

If our nation had the sort of media for which the 1st Amendment was written instead of the megalithic, monolithic and "liberalithic" media we DO have we would see some major outrage in all media about this. Our Founding Fathers envisioned the press as a "watchdog" - speaking out and defending the citizens against the government. Instead we see today's media attacking the citizens on behalf of the government. If our nation's people ever rise in righteous rebellion against tyranny I hope we remember the role media played in establishing that tyranny. Heads should be rolling off shoulders at INS as well as the Dept. of Justice now - and the media should be demanding these heads as trophies.

Former INS District Director Tom Fischer told CNN that "the letters should never have been sent." Their delivery, he said, was "a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing."Yep I would say that describes the US Immigration and the remainder of the US government!

Maybe we should all print out this article, and send it to every one of members of Congress who votes FOR H.R. 1885 - amnesty to millions of illegals - as proof that our Government is just so behind the times, it is a threat to us.

Kind of funny in a tragically sad way, but not surprising in the least. The only thing the government seems to move consistently quickly on is taking our money, and coming after us if they think we didn't pay "our fair share".
A little over two years ago I sent a facility license renewal application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Their response letter arrived, at the wrong address, about a month ago. They took two years to get around to our application. And guess how long they gave us to respond to their demands for "more information"? Thirty days.
I'd be more sympathetic (but not that much more) to these bureaucrats' pleas for more tax dollars to be spent on them if they were doing even a halfway decent job on what they're supposed to be doing. But they don't even do that, so throwing more money at them seems to be like throwing good money after bad. Would you spend more on your neighborhood mechanic to fix your car if he spent hundreds or thousands and still wanted more to get the job done? I'd take my business elsewhere, but with the feds, for some things, they won't let us do that...

"I think it is certainly embarrassing that the letters show up at this late date," said INS spokesman Russ Bergeron. "It does serve to illustrate what we have been saying since 1995 -- that the current system for collecting information and tracking foreign students is antiquated, outdated, inaccurate and untimely."
Then you, Russ Bergeron, and all of your superiors should have been fired by 1996 at the latest.
Thats how a for-profit corporation would have gotten the problem fixed.

If the INS, congress, or the President wanted to fix this problem, it would have been fixed a long time ago.

Phil, You gotta see this. Classic example of "your tax dollars at work." Doesn't anyone at INS read the papers? Can't anyone there walk and chew gum at the same time? Is this any way to run a railroad?

In most businesses, a statement like this would get you canned. At the INS [or it seems any other Federal Agency under President Bush] , it is a solid argument to demand more money and more power.

I agree, but since they really are not interested in the rule of law and protecting this country post 9-11, maybe we should form our own Citizens Border Patrol or join RanchRescue.com

I know....:( I feel terrible, because I love this President on everything else. This breaks my heart, and there's like 1000+ posts on it somewhere here. They're voting on it today. I don't know what to do. It's like that song "clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right"....I think the thread that people are posting on is the Tancredo thread.
