OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS ASKED TO DROP SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS
The Catholic League is asking over 100 organizations to drop their support for the American Red Cross. Specifically, we are requesting the leaders of allied organizations to alert their members to the decision by the Red Cross Orange County Chapter in Santa Ana, California, to stop students from Orange County High School of the Arts from singing God Bless America and America the Beautiful at a Red Cross luncheon yesterday.
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross supports the censorship. In a news release on this subject, it exclaims our sensitivity to religious diversity noting its preference for a music program that would be inclusive and not offend different populations participating in this particular event.
Catholic League president William Donohue commented as follows:
If this were just a chapter of the Red Cross acting this way, we would be disturbed but would not call for drastic action. But since the headquarters of the American Red Cross is supporting the ban on God Bless America and America the Beautiful, we are left with little alternative. Sadly, it has become all too common for the high priests of religious diversity and inclusiveness to resort to gag rules.
The American Red Cross has every right to adopt the platform of political correctness by censoring the free speech of young men and women who want to honor God and country. And we have every right to ask our friends to send the Red Cross an unmistakable message by refusing to donate one more dime to the organization. Our request is being sent to our allies in virtually every faith community. The time to put an end to this anti-religious madness is now.
I just raided the kids game ... hehehe .. I'M IN THE MONEY!!!!
This is gonna be sooooooo much fun ... lol
I do believe him, since I do know for a fact he was wounded in WWII and his emotions were entirely genuine.
For some time now, I have been giving my time and money to the Salvation Army. They aren't afraid to give disaster victims and homeless and druggies and alcoholics some Christian hope along with the material things.
My dad was a WWII vet ... unfortunately he passed away when I was very young ... I'll ask my mother about it and let you know if she knows anything about this
Great idea about the monopoly money. But, would some Freeper just post a few reasonable facsimiles which we can print out, cut up and send?
I used the words "Red Cross" because they do not deserve nor have the right to use "American" in their title!
!!BOYCOTT!!BOYCOTT!!BOYCOTT!!BOYCOTT!!BOYCOTT!!
Something on this scale is OK when we send our own Monopoly money, because the manufacturer made their money on the sale of the trademarked product already. It's our business how we decide to "play with it." I'm not a lawyer, but if we copy it, we could catch heat.
The good news is, one pack of money can be split up NUMEROUS ways amongst many FReepers, since we don't need that many bills per envelope; we need lots of envelopes.
And I am so proud of you!
50 envelopes.
Wow!
I hope they have their paper-cut insurance premiums paid up to date.
The only thing my father would ever say about his experiences with the RC during WW2 in the Pacific was that enlisted folks were allowed to buy coffee and doughnuts while officers were given free food and entertainment.
My father-in-law WWII, Europe, also complained he had to pay 5 cents (script) for coffee and donuts, but didn't mention officers getting freebies. He died hating the Red Cross. I'm snail-mailing some *phoney money* tomorrow.
Bump!
On Sunday, March 10, the CBS News show 60 Minutes ran a ... story about the American Red Cross.
The 60 Minutes segment focused on 3 problems (San Diego, Loma Prieta and Red River)
[San Diego is where the Alpine and Viejas fires occurred in January 2001
Loma Prieta is the location of the San Francisco earthquake around 1990.
I don't remember what disaster happened at Red River.
60 Minutes did not report other examples of the ARC's problems, but others probably existed.]
National Red Cross is audited annually by ... KPMG.
When donors designate, their intentions are always honored.
[But, most donors don't.]
60 Minutes reported that the San Diego chapter has not provided a financial report to Supervisor Jacob and the fire victims. ...
$242,021 has been spent on immediate disaster relief and in direct support of the families affected by the fire of the $343,000 designated by donors for the Alpine/Viejas fires, more than two-thirds of the donations. [what about the other 1/3? and what about all the undirected money collected using this disaster?]
60 Minutes reported that the national audit of San Diego found that the chapter had misspent $112,000. .... National Red Cross and the chapter agreed that indirect costs associated with the Alpine Fire, such things as the cost of telephones to service this disaster, would not be counted
[I think 60 Minutes mentioned the spending of donations on phone service and chapter expansion.]
