OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS ASKED TO DROP SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS

OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS ASKED TO DROP SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS

The Catholic League is asking over 100 organizations to drop their support for the American Red Cross. Specifically, we are requesting the leaders of allied organizations to alert their members to the decision by the Red Cross Orange County Chapter in Santa Ana, California, to stop students from Orange County High School of the Arts from singing “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful” at a Red Cross luncheon yesterday.

The national headquarters of the American Red Cross supports the censorship. In a news release on this subject, it exclaims “our sensitivity to religious diversity” noting its “preference for a music program that would be inclusive and not offend different populations participating in this particular event.”

Catholic League president William Donohue commented as follows:

“If this were just a chapter of the Red Cross acting this way, we would be disturbed but would not call for drastic action. But since the headquarters of the American Red Cross is supporting the ban on ‘God Bless America’ and ‘America the Beautiful,’ we are left with little alternative. Sadly, it has become all too common for the high priests of ‘religious diversity’ and ‘inclusiveness’ to resort to gag rules.

“The American Red Cross has every right to adopt the platform of political correctness by censoring the free speech of young men and women who want to honor God and country. And we have every right to ask our friends to send the Red Cross an unmistakable message by refusing to donate one more dime to the organization. Our request is being sent to our allies in virtually every faith community. The time to put an end to this anti-religious madness is now.”

There is the American Red Cross and the International Commission (Committee?) of the Red Cross. The American RC has always been looked on as much more conservative and nationalist. No longer. As for Muslims. They have their own organization and it is called the Red Crescent. Thus the RC argument is specious, and the organization doesn't deserve a dime of Ameirican money.

This is all I found on the 60 minutes website:

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS: It took a public outcry to make the Red Cross funnel all the money it collected for 9/11 to those victims. But Mike Wallace finds out that wasn’t the first time the venerable charity has come under fire for how it spends donations raised after a major disaster.

I read here that the RC was fromed in 1908 and adopted the Greek Red Cross as its emblem...why? Beats the sh*t outta me.

Not all all. I was actually a defender of the ARC regarding the funds. But after this thing in Orange County, CA, I can't take it anymore.

I've always defended the RC concerning the charges of selling coffee and donuts to GI's. There have been rumors of that since WWII, Korea and Vietnam. My only coffee line with them had a can that was clearly marked Donations, and nobody was obligated to give. Nobody I ever met claimed that he (in the old days, soldiers were he's) had to give money for the coffee. I've always regarded the charge as urban legend.

Also, on the bright side, 2 men I knew in Vietnam received compassionate reassignments back to the States due in part to the RC's efforts.

That being said, my feelings now are: They used to be good and now they suck.

I don't know about you, but I thought that the 9-11 fund problem and taking blood they didn't need and destroying it was enough.

This "edict" puts it over the top for me.

I guess I am more forgiving than you. :) We've all seen how you take no guff from the libertines.

I am wondering if FR might participate in this drop of support (boycott) for the Red Cross. I am working on getting the details from Dr. Donohue.

I work for Southeastern Community Blood Bank. It is a private organization here in Florida. There are blood banks that are not with the Red Cross. Please don't let that discourage you to donate blood. It is so important to donate. Ask around your town as to where you can donate. It really saves lives. As for me I will not donate a single penny to the Red Cross.

The ARC's obstinate lack of consideration for decent American sensibilities is sending defintely sending us a message. Here's one way to read that message.

Disapproval needs to be demonstrated or nothing will change.

In future, when you look up "insular" in the Old Patriot's Dictionary and you find "leadership of the American Red Cross" it will mean we have failed to try hard enough to drive the vermin out of our institutions."

I used to defend them, too, because of a day care school they ran in Belize (Central America). But this is way over the top. I am more than furious! Those poor disappointed kids. It's inexcusable.
