PLEASE Urgent Prayers needed for child in car accident
self | 03/09/2002 | self

Posted on 03/09/2002 2:30:04 PM PST by PleaseNoMore

I have never posted an article. I have only replied. Please forgive me if this is not in the right place.

I am requesting URGENT prayers for my 12 yo niece and 4 of her friends. They were in a head on collision this afternoon coming back from a function. Apparently she, my niece, has severe internal injuries, including severe head trauma. Also, she was burnt as both vehicles apparently caught on fire at impact. She has been transported to a hospital in Greenville, NC. The other little girls were taken to UNC Chapel Hill.

From what we have heard so far it will take a miracle for her to survive. I do not know the conditions of the other 4 girls. Please pray for them as well.

Thanks so much and God's Blessings to you all.

I was unable to do a "self-search" yesterday so I'm just now reading this thread. I am sorry to hear of this horrific accident and I pray the Good Lord will send the miracle needed! From your update, it sounds as if that miracle may already be in progress for your niece. I will continue to pray for her speedy recovery. May God comfort and strengthen your family as you go through this ordeal.

Updated newsstory on the accident

Alcohol suspected in fatal crash

By SPAINE STEPHENS, Rocky Mount Telegram

A Nashville mother and son were killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collison on U.S. 64 West.,

Wanda Sue Sanders, 36, and her son, Nicholas Ray Sanders, 12, of Exum Road, Nashville, were killed around 2:45 p.m. when their 1986 Chevrolet Nova collided with a Jeep Cherokee on U.S. 64 West. Sanders was traveling east in the westbound lane when her vehicle struck the Jeep, which was traveling west.

"We suspect alcohol, but we cannot finalize that until the toxicology report comes in," said N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper J.E. Brewer.

Brewer said he still is trying to contact the driver of the Jeep Cherokee, whom he believes has been released from Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount. The names of the occupants of the Jeep have not been released.

"It is my understanding that there were five people in the Jeep, including the driver," he said.

The collision caused the Jeep to burst into flames, and traffic was halted while the blaze was put out and the injured were taken to the hospital. N.C. Highway Patrol officers spoke with eyewitnesses to get their accounts of the accident while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.

Brewer said as traffic began to back up, the westbound traffic was rerouted off the highway by the Red Oak exit.

He also said he thinks some of the passengers in the Jeep, including children, were taken to the Chapel Hill Burn Center, while others were transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Nash County EMS responded to the accident, which caused a traffic jam that extended several miles east for "at least a couple of hours," Brewer said.

He said that at least one subsequent accident occurred as a result of traffic delays.

"There was one other accident; I believe it happened right at the Old Carriage Road bridge near Nash (Community College)," Brewer said.

Another minor accident also occurred around the same time as the accident, but Brewer did not believe it was directly related to the traffic delays caused by the initial accident.

There were no injuries reported in the other accidents.

Update on one of the other children's condition:

One of the little girls ( I don't know her name but God does ) involved in the accident with Skye is in a coma at UNC Burn Center. The details on her injury is sketchy but it is reported that she has had a brain injury as well. Something to do with her brain "shifting". So, on top of the burns she has this to recover from.

Please keep these girls in your prayers.

Thank you for the update. I thought about Skye and the other little girls all day yesterday. I prayed and prayed. In all the years that I have been a Christian, and have seen the Lord perform His miracles in my life, I am still in awe of Him when I read a report like this one. God is great, and wonderful, and heals us. Praise the Lord!
