If there ever was a vast right wing conspiracy, this much is now clear: it certainly never included President Bush - whose Justice Department is now defending New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in a lawsuit brought by Clinton White House whistleblower Sheryll Hall and Judicial Watch.
Over their objections, "the Bush Justice Department represents Hillary Clinton in this lawsuit free of charge, saying that it is in its 'discretion' to represent private parties," the legal watchdog group said in a press release Wednesday.
Hall was the White House computer expert who alleged that Mrs. Clinton was part of a conspiracy to force her out of her job after she told investigators about a data base compiled on the former first lady's instructions that illegally used White House social lists for Democratic Party fund-raising.
Hall also exposed the White House e-mail scandal, where millions of subpoenaed e-mails on some of the most serious Clinton scandals were withheld from investigators.
But despite her heroic efforts to expose Clinton White House wrongdoing, Justice Department lawyers were arguing against Hall yesterday - and instead for Hillary Clinton, a sight that was nearly too much to take for Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.
"I had to shake my head in wonderment at the sight of the Bush Justice Department working hand in hand with the DNC to defend the Hillary Clinton-led conspiracy to use the White House computer systems for illegal fund-raising," he complained.
"Rather than improperly giving Hillary Clinton free legal representation in this private lawsuit, the Bush Justice Department ought to be prosecuting her for this illegal database and retaliation."

Bush didn't fool anybody. They fooled themselves.
Can't abide hearing that line from people I admire, bud.
We're just going to have to be very gentle with them. The last thing Free Republic needs is another convulsive rift, like we had over Buchanan. So how about :
*our side admits we prefer Bush to Gore;
*their side admits as soon as Bush won office, all pressure on the Clintons stopped;
then having acknowledged these realities, maybe we can find some common ground? This Administration is going to have to be dragged (kicking and screaming) towards supporting the values Freepers collectively hold dear; so where better to get the ball rolling, than from right here on FR?
I don't like it much, but I do see why.
Bubba-2 is on HIS side. HIS side is the side of the elites in power,and is the same side as Bubba-1 and Bubbette! is on. He can't afford to see a former president or any members of that president's family going on trial or to jail because his father is a former president,and he will be one himself in 2004. There is no doubt in my mind that Bubba-2 is doing this mostly out of self-defense and professional courtesy. He is hoping Bubbette! will show the same courtesy to him and his family when she is president. She won't,and that is probably the only good thing that will come out of this.
In short,Bubba-2 is playing "It's US against them!",and he defines "us" as presidents and their familes. WE are "them".
BTW,thanks for being one of the ones to bring this oldie back up to the surface. How quickly we forget!
This is especially true when you consider that Bubba Bush and Janet Ashcroft are going to make sure a grand jury never sees any charges filed against them.
Well, Buck, I would not argue against that, but there are a whole lot more people in the criminal corrupt bunch than the Clintons, as you know. That argument, posed many times, is bogus for that reason......or were the Clintons working alone?
Of course, if there is no investigation then there is no evidence, and no indictment. As that sanctimonious fraud, AG Ashcroft disbanded the campaign finance task force, there is no investigation there.
How about Loral? There shareholders were fined $millions, but Ashcroft let it end there, allowing the criminals to go free.
On and on it goes.....
There is no way to penetrate that kind of delusional thinking. Irrefutable facts make no impression. That's one of the reasons why the situation is pretty much hopeless.
Is their really any viable witnesses that are able to come forward and withstand the scrutiny that is needed for Clinton Indictments? It would be playing right into Dems hands to keep this political, and a waste of time/money, for a republican operative to come forward. It will take a strong Dem to come out against this brood of vipers to make a difference. And as we've seen they are truly in lockstep.
Or is it enough to whine and moan about how bad it is, or worse yet there is actually someone that is able to accomplish something other than be consumed with getting Clinton. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean the Clinton's day of reckoning will never happen. But that's just my view from being 1/2 full.
Collectively? COLLECTIVELY? Have you Bush haters now decided what is proper for Freepers to believe? You become more and more comical. Let Mr. Klayman or anyone else make a charge that you can hang your anti-Bush hats on and you start foaming at your "collective" mouths, despite what the facts and your own common sense should tell you. Whatever legitimate grievances you may have are buried by your willing acceptance of charges that are patently false.
So if I understand your views, you believe that William Jefferson Blythe Clinton of Hope Arkansas was an "elite?" That is so laughable it defies analysis. Then you go on to imply that Hillary will be the next "elite" but that she--unlike all the others you see involved in this conspiracy of "elites"--will refuse to offer George W. Bush the "professional courtesy" you see prevalent among the "elites." How long have you known these secrets?
Now don't be shy. Why stop at "millions" in this fiction you guys are writing? "Billions" sounds so much more substantial, doesn't it? Heck, you might as well go for "TRILLIONS" since it is no more accurate than the number you snatched out of the air.
Another reason is that the so-called "irrefutable facts" you folks dream up are neither irrefutable nor facts. You are entitled to your own opinions and to skillfully parade them as if they were enlightened. You are not, however, entitled to your own set of "irrefutable facts" which somehow never seem to be capable of verification.
Seems to be a lot of that self-deception going around. What were your symptoms?
No,I KNOW it. The skids were greased for him ever since high school. His step-father was connected or organized crime and the Dim Party (same thing,really) in Hot Springs. Ever heard of Senator William Fullbright? WHO do you think got Bubba-1 his Rhodes scholarship,his job as a intern for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,or his job as a professor at the U of A as a professor of Constitutional Law? WHO do you think his political rabbi was this whole time,his mother,the drunken whore? Or maybe you think Bubba-1 was so smart and perfect he managed to go straight from high school into politics all by himself?
