"ADULT CONTENT"
by Cindy Furnare

The term "adult content" should bring to mind an informative document of substance. Unfortunately, just like the word "gay" has been perverted; so has the term "adult content."

Truly it is disgusting to be bombarded by "adult content" e- mails which you would NEVER sign up for. There is nothing "adult" about these "adult content" e-mails. As a matter of fact, the term "sick and perverted" accurately describes these "adult content" e-mails.

Well, the internet search engines which include "adult content" are not any better. Perverts on the internet are not behaving like "adults" and their "content" is outright pornographic. Why "adult content" is included in any search engine is beyond me.

So, shut off your computer and turn on the TV. You have to search around a bit with the remote and finally you find a good program to watch. Unfortunately, as you channel surf; you realize that disgusting movies and "adult" channels are becoming more prominent as television enters the "adult" stage for at-home viewers.

Frankly speaking, our politically correct society has given the nod to the normalization of perversion. How much perversion will our society tolerate before we grow up, act like adults, protect our children and save our society?

Will all the men and women of high moral fiber stand up now and XXX out the obscenity in our society? You can start at home by tolerating only decency and honesty. Make this the normal standard in your household. Be an upright person filled with integrity. Carry your high moral standard with you at all times --- at home, at work, at church and in your community. Let your character shine as a beacon of light in this dark world filled with evil.

Maybe someday, we can gayly define the term "adult content" in a bright light that won't bring shame upon our society.

Maybe....

Great post, Cindy!

It is so frustrating to check e-mail and find all these disgusting messages (the titles alone. I never actually read them). It just does not seem enough to delete them, but I have read on this forum that to reply at all is a plus for the sender.

#42 - you are right. I've probably deleted some genuine messages because I was unsure of the sender or content.

Subjects like - "Here is the info you requested" or "I need some info".

I reason if it is a genuine message the sender will try the telephone or fax.

That's why your side gets so much hostility from libertarians. The key word is GOVERNMENT.

Well, to reduce the size of the government, you need to establish individual responsibility. You need to let people know they're in charge of their lives. If we let the Liberals get them addicted to drugs and pornography, they will not want to be in charge. They'll say: "You are bad because you 'force' me to work to make a living. Why can't you just give me my dole so I can buy my cocaine and watch my porn all day?" You see, Big Government advocates use drugs and pornography to get irrational and semi-rational people to support them.

Also, by letting people commit suicide and find substitues for marriage, we remove their motivation to reproduce. This would be absolutely fine with me if rationality were genetically determined: the irrational people would become extinct in just a couple of generations.

The fact that there are so many irrational people around today is proof that rationality is not genetically determined. Thus, rational parents may have irrational children, and vice versa. By removing the motivation to reproduce, we punish the future generation for the irrationality of their parents.

There is a huge difference between protest(even open and loud protest) and organizing boycotts, picketing businesses which sell porn, etc.... and calling for the government to censor. Free speech goes two ways.

Do you believe folks have a right under the guise of "free speech" to force their "private and consensual" sexual practices on others in the public square?

No, but what they do, watch, read ... in the privacy of their own home or on private property they own is their own business. Our laws should be reserved for restricing non-consensual harm (actual harm, not imagined) to people.

As I said, if you don't like porn, there are ample ways to protest it without calling for government censorship. Organizing a boycott is NOT censorship. Picketing a business is NOT censorship. Any free citizen has the right to determine who is responsible for creating, distributing or selling porn, and to protest in front of those persons' homes or businesses. Publicize their names, their home addresses, their place of employment, their car license tags... whatever. Picket their homes, business. Stand peacefully in front of their kid's school with signs saying Parent X sells pornography (as long as it is true). This is free speech countering free speech.

Anyone who is involved in porn could not be consistent if they complain about a person or group excercising their free speech to protest his/her own. Protesters need to learn to use free speech craftily to their advantage to make their opinions known, not rely on the "government" to do their dirty work for them.

Well well well, nice to see you'r consistent too. Nice to see that you support the right of someone to sexually enslave someone else. As long as they can get away with it.... no problem, right?

All well and good.

But when court's rule consistently IN FAVOR of the pornographer's "right" to display publicly his wares, the Government has indeed curtailed the rights of those who prefer they and their children not to be subject to the pornographer's conditioning.

You can't have it both ways.

How nice to see you sprinking a bit of Class Envy on your Man-hating

Speaking of logic..... I suggest you read the thread. Being opposed to sex slavery and human trafficking is NOT the same thing as class envy or man-hating. One poster claimed these evils are a result of contraception and widespread pornography, relatively recent events. I have a different opinion. These are not recent evils, they have been around for eons (slavery, trafficking, sex slavery, child sex slavery). Contraception and pornography didn't cause them. These evils only exist whenever people can get away with subjugating others. The only way people can get away with human rights abuses is if no one cares or if there is no one with the social/political/economic clout to put a stop to it.

Fortunately that is no longer the case. There are many human rights and/or feminists organizations working hard today to eliminate these human rights abuses in our world.

Do you support or oppose human rights abuses?

I'm not aware pornographers can "publically display" their wares. If you're speaking of the internet, you may have a point, however it is so new and no one is really in charge of "policing" the net if that were even possible, which I doubt. In any case, I'd put my efforts into protest and free speech countering their free speech rather than wasting time with censorship. There are a lot of highly effective means to protest things one doesn't like.

I'm of the opinion that not only do I have the "right" of free speech, I am obligated to use it, rather than take the lazy way out and expect the "government" to do it for me.

"How much perversion will our society tolerate before we grow up, act like adults, protect our children and save our society?"

It will take until the ones promoting it are whipped soundly and have their mouths washed out with soap, in a manner of speaking. They need to be treated the age they act until they act the age they are.

I have been innundated lately by Chinese language spam, more than the sex spam.

Spam? what is spam? I thought it was some meat look a like, or as we pilots say, spam is short for spamcan, or certificated aircraft. I get no spam, but I get a lot of ridicule for being on AOL. Go figure, and, I've got the same E-mail address I had oh, let's say last century! Sorry for the rant, but spam is just not a problem for me under Mother AOL's wing. Any other AOL people have spam problems?

There is not a single Feminist organization on the planet that has the slightest concern for HUMAN rights, and if you were honest, you would admit it. Your concern is for WOMEN's rights, period.

You are wrong on all counts. Do a little research. Feminists organization the world over are working hard on this very issue. You are being provincial. There are many organizitions throught the world. NOW is not the only feminist organization in the world. I will grant you that they are not expending their resources in the direction of human rights but many others are. Do some homework and you'll find that out.

Where you actually concerned for HUMAN rights, you would include the abuses of men in your screed.

Now I know you haven't read this thread. I mentioned several times that children of both sexes are trafficked and made into sex slaves. (Most of them are female but many young boys are abused in this way too). I didn't mention it yet, but I will now... for centureis right up until present day, men have been held as sex slaves. They were/are castrated as boys and held as sexual servants for other men's sexual use (for oral and anal sex).

And for your information, I was countering the ridiculous notion that all of these types of abuses have recently sprung up since the advent of contraception, widespread access to pornography (and the underlying unstated premis .....since feminism). I was refuting that point. What do you attribute these evils too? Do you have a different opinion, or just want to take one adversarial to any one that I take? Do you think pornography and contraception caused all these things?

There are many people working to make the world better for us all. Feminists certainly aren't the only ones, but they are certainly part of efforts to curb human rights abuses FOR EVERYONE throughout the world. The first part of the plan is to make everyone aware that these things still occur and to correctly identify the abusers as well as the reasons the abuse is allowed to go on. Why do you think these abuses occur and are allowed to go continue? Do you have an opinion? Do you care whether they occur or not? Or is it only important to shoot down people who do care and who are trying change things? Assuming you do care about the subject, what do YOU think should done about human rights abuses?
