Newfangled 'Fish Protection' Religion Debunked --"Greens" Motive To Bankrupt Oregon Farmers
Too Good reports ^ | February 11, 2002 | Vin Suprynowicz

Posted on 02/11/2002 5:12:35 AM PST by Stand Watch Listen

It comes too late to save the farms and livelihoods of hundreds of southern Oregon farmers left high and dry last summer, but the National Academy of Sciences released a report Feb. 5 bearing out what those farmers have been saying all along — the federal government did not have sufficient scientific evidence to cut off irrigation water to the farms below Oregon's Klamath Lake Dam.

Two hundred thousand acres of the Klamath Valley in southwest Oregon went without irrigation water last summer, with 1,500 affected farm families suffering losses that may total $250 million, dwarfing a $20 million emergency federal aid package.

But the problem wasn't drought — there's still plenty of water behind the dam which the federal government built in 1909, thereafter holding "land lotteries" for veterans of both the First and Second World Wars, encouraging the winners to settle the valley and set up farms by signing contracts which promised irrigation water would always be provided.

Rather, the farmers were effectively put out of business — 90 percent of farms in the area being left entirely without water and thus condemned to total crop loss — when the Bureau of Reclamation broke the irrigation contract, supposedly to save two species of "threatened" sucker fish living in the lakes above the dams and to avoid harming the Coho salmon in the river below.

The farmers have contended all along that populations of suckers (previously regarded as a "nuisance" or "trash" species) above the dams have actually been not diminishing but skyrocketing — from 5,000 in the lake when the species were listed as endangered more than a decade ago, to at least 100,000 today. And the NAS review now agrees there was not sufficient scientific evidence to justify the actions of the National Marine Fisheries Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service in withholding the water previously promised to the farmers.

The decision was made without even checking to see whether populations of suckers above the dam have risen, fallen, or stayed the same (a study which would take years), reports Peter Moyle, a professor of fish biology at the University of California, Davis (and one of the study's authors.)

As for the Klamath River coho salmon, the data available doesn't prove increased summer water flows would benefit the fish, Moyle said last week. In fact, he pointed out that water used to increase flows would come from reservoirs where the water is too warm for the fragile coho, anyway.

The Klamath Valley abomination has never been about saving fish — it's been about the antigrowth agenda of radical environmental groups like the Oregon Natural Resources Council, whose spokesmen hate the region's very lushness because it's artificial. Such groups forthrightly state their goal is to force farmers off the land. In this case, the Oregon "greens" drafted a plan which calls for the federal government to buy much of the basin's farmland, turning a lush and verdant valley which feeds hundreds of thousands of Americans back into as a "desert preserve."

"Rural Cleansing," the local farmers call it.

And it's working. Businesses were already closing — and school populations falling by as much as 30 percent — in towns like Klamath Falls, population 17,000, and Tulelake, Calif., population 1,000, as early as last June.

What an interesting new religion, this doctrine that man's proper role in the world is to be less fruitful, do less multiplying, and to turn the gardens of the earth into deserts. What ever shall we call it?

You are in a good spot to help us change things! Email and Fax your senators and congressmen today! Tell them this isn't right!

We as a silent majuority need to start hitting our elected officers up with the facts about the "Green Machine". That the environmental movement is just another UN invasion on America. Can't say what I'd like to say to do to them or my post would be pulled. Suffice to say - take action.

"The battle has never been about fish, or owls, or trees, for the enviro nutcakes it has always been about power and control. "

Exactly right. All else follows from the will to power of the Gramscian, Machiavellian totalists. Total power over every sphere of human thought, endeavor and spirit was, is, and remains their goal. Their very hubris, desperation and arrogance will force matters to a head.

Speed the Day...

What ever shall we call it?

The last refuge of the true believers in a failed political system. Communism in word and deed, but Green in name.

Just as the White Russians were starved, impoverished, driven from their productive lands, and slaughtered by the Reds - a scenario played out over and over as leftists gain control of a government - we in the West are just so much chafe to be disposed of in the quest for the new utopia.

DJ, I really think that the farmers and ranchers have standing under RICO statutes. This is DEFINETLY a conspiring criminal interprise that transcends borders. And, enabled by godgov to say the least. We KNOW the government funds them for the rural cleansing. Peace and love, George.

Could it get any more black and white? The farmers who live there and observe conditions every day, and who - if they weren't under siege by the protected class known as Enviro-Nazis - would be considered credible and reliable witnesses, are marginalized. Nonetheless:

The decision was made without even checking to see whether populations of suckers above the dam have risen, fallen, or stayed the same (a study which would take years), reports Peter Moyle, a professor of fish biology at the University of California, Davis (and one of the study's authors.)

In the absence of any evidence, this camp is what determined policy.

There's no other term for it than Rural Cleansing.

There are many at the breaking point everywhere. Maybe the explosion will be sparked in Massachusettes by a parent whose child is handed over to a pederast school priciple. Perhaps it will start in Idaho with a government land taking. Maybe it will be Illinois where a war hero forgot to renew his FOID. maybe kalifornia where some citizen will tire of some inane restriction. The list is beyond my megar capacity to enumerate.

For the leftists it is about power, raw naked power. Power is its own reward. It is almost a sexual fetish in its intensity. They demand domination in a way that is beyond the comprehension of most Americans. Auther Koestler understood this well and documented it in darkness at noon. Solzhenitsyn was a real life Rubishov and he understood it. I sometimes socialize with the mosters of the left and they are monsters. they do not seek just our bodies enslaved but they demand the abject subjagation of our minds and souls. Listen to them rant sometime on abortion or homosexuality. No one should have the right to oppose abortion. No one should have the right to decline to participate in an abortion. No one should ever have the right to question special rights for homosexuals. I am reminded that no one should have a right to shelter an enemy of the state like a Jew ( I study history and the Nazi period was one where the National Socialists had control of what had been the most intellectual and modern state in Europe).

My one possible disagreement is your comment Speed the day. I almost find myself wanting the conflagration to come. Then I remember the carnage I saw in Vietnam. I remember the orphaned children. I remember the burned bodies rotting. Perhaps such carnage is worth it to them for the satisfaction of their power lust. It is not something I rationally hope for but at times in the dead of night I realize that it may be better to get it over with now. then I drive down the streets of the New England small town where I reside and I think of what it would be like to see so many dead and maimed.

Yet the Leftists who move and shake the universe are not concerned with casualties. they think it will be merely a matter of the soldiers dealing with the rebels. when asked if they really think the US armed forces will actively engage in hostilities against the US population the answer they will do what they are ordwered to or they will be court martialed. When queried about miltary reistence to their orders they respond that other troops could if necessary be brought in to do the job. I can realize the day is coming soon but I refuse to be happy about it. I do not like the idea of rivers of bloodcoursing throughout the land. It is something that is out of my control and I can only warn of the impending twighlight of the Gods, Cache arms and ammunition, stockpile food water and medical supplies and go on with my daily life.

Stay well (a traditional wish for your good health - Stay safe (A reminder for prudence in a dsangerous world) - Stay armed ( A reminder of the neccessary condtion for a free human) - Yorktown (Where we shall share a victory toast for the restored Republic)

Nothin' much to say except that this stinks. Why can't these people be stopped?

Write a letter to the whitehouse and ask bush to let the water flow. He is the one who is helping the greens bankrupt these farmers.

Sun Tsu was correct in his advice to know one's enemy.

...they do not seek just our bodies enslaved but they demand the abject subjugation of our minds and souls. Listen to them rant sometime on abortion or homosexuality. No one should have the right to oppose abortion. No one should have the right to decline to participate in an abortion. No one should ever have the right to question special rights for homosexuals.

I forget who, but one writer described them as 'spiral-eyed fanatics'. What's so abjectly evil about these monsters is the sheer intensity of he hatred that lies behind their various and assorted fanaticisms. If the last century taught us anything, it's that particular mindset that lurks behind every real and potential mass-murderer. When these creatures of hatred gai ncontrol of the appratus of the state, genocide, thuggery and misery always follow. We're really dancing on the edge of he volcano now. Had the National Socialsit Democrats succedded in stealing the election last year, we'd be fighting it out now.

No, they are not concerned one whit about human life. It's all expendable when you're on the road to Utopia. These spiral-eyed fanatics would crack a thousand million skulls to make their particular utopian omelet, and crack still another thousand million more just to cover their backs - no remorse, no hesitation. By their lights, an ocean of blood and an entire mountain range of corpses is considered a fair price to pay for the achievement of the 'New Socialist Man'. Solzhenitsyn reminds us:

"But the fight for our planet, physical and spiritual, a fight of cosmic proportions, is not a vague matter of the future; it has already started. The forces of Evil have begun their decisive offensive, you can feel their pressure, and yet your screens and publications are full of prescribed smiles and raised glasses.

"Two hundred, or even fifty years ago, it would have seemed quite impossible, in America, that an individual could be granted boundless freedom simply for the satisfaction of his instincts or whims. Subsequently, however, all such limitations were discarded everywhere in the West; a total liberation occurred from the moral heritage of Christian centuries with their great reserves of mercy and sacrifice. State systems were becoming increasingly and totally materialistic."

"There is a disaster, however, which has already been under way for quite some time. I am referring to the calamity of a de-spiritualized and irreligious humanistic consciousness. It is not possible that assessment of the President's performance be reduced to the question of how much money one makes or of unlimited availability of gasoline. Only voluntary inspired self-restraint can raise man above the world stream of materialism."

"Even if we are spared destruction by war, our lives will have to change if we want to save life from self-destruction."

Excerpted from Solzhenitsyn's commencement address at Harvard University in 1978

That's why I say 'speed the Day' - while I can still run and shoot. Or carry a briefcase or a bag of groceries. Short of an asteriod striking the planet or a visit from alien intelligences, nothing's going to stop this.

"It will happen in its own time..."

True enough. Another poster on another thread said, "You cannot reason a person out of a position they did not reach through reason."

And when said persons gain control of the entire apparatus of a state, what then?

When reason, logic, truth and good will have been swept off the table to shatter like cheap crockery, what then?

History provides answers to these questions that none of us like to contemplate. As terrible as the slaughters of the previous century have been, I fear that they will pale in comparison to what this century will see. And we're off to a hell of a start, aren't we?

When playing the 'what if?' game, it's interesting to think about just how far the National Socialists would have gotten if they had been met at the door by a determined householder with a Mauser and twenty rounds of ammunition. How far would the Nazi's genocidal programs have proceeded if each and every potential victim had fought back? Bodies rotting in the streets? Terrible, to be sure - but better theirs than mine or my family's. The calculus here is easy to do. Not so easy, perhaps, to live with. I still prefer to have the choice.
